i like the old one more. it looks more like the iMac and/or Pro ish. And the white looks so 2006 come on. Plus now when u put it down the phone will rock back and forth on the curved back :(

Yes the dock is just a stand that you sit the iphone in while charging. This came with the original now it is available at a cost. PLUS the plug that the new 3G comes with is super cheap looking not anything like what came with the original.
THIS 3G phone is BUDGET!

while I agree that they should include a dock, how can you complain about a new smaller power adapter. You can't really judge its cheapness by a picture

Dear,

I like the old one so much more (based on the pictures and my feeling). For more then a year I wanted one so badly, but the Iphones where never availible here in the Netherlands. And now when it is finally here, the first class design is gone replaced by a budget version :(

I don't mind to pay more for a premium design, but sadly the aluminium version will never be availlibe anymore :(

Any way at July 11 I will be the first one in front of the T-mobile store to buy one :D

With kind regards,
Bas

I like the aluminum better, and the slightly cheaper rates.

Waiting for the 3rd version of the iPhone.... ;)

You know, many of the old powerbooks lost their aluminum coating at the handrests after a couple years because the oil and sweat ate away at it. I wonder if plastic wouldn't actually be a better choice for a phone than aluminum since the thing is going to get a whole lot of sweat and oil rubbing on it and then would turn into a crappy looking POS.

The fact which I have been preaching since the keynote is that this new 3G is a serious disappointment. Wallstreet feels the same way. Just look at the stock. Seriously though when the updated version to one of last years best gadgets gets introduced the way it did at the keynote could you not see that Apple was just a little ashamed??

True.. Usually Apple "blows" our mind with a amazing new product. Especially after all thes rumors the keynote was a huge disappointment...

What would be a fair price for a old iPhone on eBay?

I read on Businessweek it wasn't the design that bothered them, but the delayed July 11th release. I don't think Wallstreet folks said "Plastic back??? Sell sell sell." The features were equal to expectations (except the front facing camera, but who believed that).

It seems to me folks who peruse these forums are more likely to be disappointed since it did only just meet expectations, and it didn't exceed them. If GPS was kept secret, I bet people would have liked the keynote a whole lot more.

Could not agree with you more!

YOU REALLY don't have to keep with the plastic back. I do think the material swap was a mistake. What I am referring too is the lackluster new version. The fact that users are even thinking that the old one is better is a problem. Anyway you either get it or you don't. Carry on.

1st gen iphone

Does anyone know where I can purchase 1st generation iphone (locked)?

New or refurbished.

Not ebay, because they are on crack asking $400~$600.

hi all-

this is my first post so bear with me... the aluminum back is so Power/Mac Pro sleek and sexy! But since i have an Agent18 case on it anyway i guess what's on the back really doesn't matter. But damn i wish the 2.0 update would just include 3g capabilities along with all the other upgrades! i just bought this one in April for my commute to work and thus i miss the cutoff for the free exchange! i'm sad!

Finables,

you shoulda waited. the 3G Rumors for WWDC have been flying since like March or April idk. That sucks. My friend got his like the day before the cut off and he's gonna talk to Apple. He got it really late at night too, like 3 hours before the actual cut off.

And that's for an 8 gb no less, lol. I found an 8 gb, new in box, for $150, but I think that was more of an exception than the rule on Craigslist. I have found the asking prices on that site to be much more in line with what I was willing to pay, which was no more than $200 for an 8 gb.

I highly recommend Craigslist to anyone in the market for a v1 iPhone.

I have to agree. The first gen is dead sexy while I'll probably need a few beers in me before the 3G starts to look hot. I just don't understand why Apple had to cheapen the new phone so much. They're still making their margins, and the carriers are going to be making even more in the long run than with the 1st gen, so why did they have to go so budget?

I may eventually upgrade, but definitely not right away. What I find to be a million times more exciting is the software update and mobile me. Those are what are truly worth being excited about.
