After a close inspection my iPad air 2 64gb space grey, I have determined that this is the most perfect panel I have seen on an iOS device. And I am pretty hard to please haha. DL serial if that matters to anyone :apple:

Perfect panel
here after five swaps serial number is DM.

Yes, I get sick of the perpetual deniers. No matter how valid the issue, there are those who don't even own the device who will say everything is just perfect.

Agree with your post die hard heart Apple fans even accept faulty products is crazy.
People forget at the end of the day we are all customers.

Mines quite nice, perfect? Certainly not.

It's unreasonable to expect that from a mass market high volume retailer like Apple, where gross margins and bottom line profit is their highest priority.

I finally went to an Apple store and I'm glad I did. The DM box iPad I opened looked yellow/grey in comparison to my DL iPad. My DL iPad doesn't look quite as "blue" has the store models, but white and almost a truer white. I'm sticking with the iPad with a dead pixel because I don't even notice it unless it's off and I'd rather have a white screen.

I had an iPad Air 2 DL and the screen was great! I upgraded to the 64GB model DM today and immediately upon the screen coming on, I could see a faint shadow along the left side of the screen. I was like what the ? Obviously not all DM's screens are good.

A few minutes later, I noticed I had to turn up the brightness nearly all the way up to get the screen really bright. On my first Air 2, getting the brightness to the middle was enough to brighten up the screen. The sound was all "tiny" too instead of real booming like my first Air 2. I returned it to Best Buy, the girl opened up another one also DM Model and I could tell right away, the screen was normal like my first one. No faint shadow along the left side! The sound is loud also.

I knew I would be annoyed by the screen, so I'm happy I returned it!

I'm satisfied with the screen I ended up with. Only a slight imperfection, the top end is slightly cool while the bottom end is slightly warm, it's only noticeable when the screen is all white, which is almost never. I just spotted it after five days of heavy usage, which included photo editing.

Can you take a screen shot of the white part of the screen like the calendar app or something?

----------

I've got a DL that is extremely cool, white, vibrant, and perfect - in fact it's going to be very very tough to beat this screen on my next iPad.

Can you take a screen shot of the white part? I'm really curious to compare how cool and white you got it.

Do you realize you can't judge it by a photo ??? I could easily take two photos of the same display in different conditions and they would appear to be totally different.

Does anyone else have a slight gradient colour change running down the left hand side of the screen???

Photo no, but a screen shot would help with the power and home button pressed at once.

Actually you can if you know how to take photos and then wathing those photos from a good screen (not from some ****** tn panel type displays).

You still need to take those photos in the same situation, for a comparison.
Three photos taken by three different users in three different situations are a waste of time.

I am just curious what everyone means by "perfect panel." It seems like the iPad screen rarely looks like the displayed device in the Apple store or even Best Buy. Always a little more red, yellow, or grey and less white.

I believe you are describing what is commonly referred to as the "book spine effect". I have minimal shading on the left of my Air 2 only noticeable on a white background when looking for it. I've noticed that a lot of the demos in the Apple store exhibit this to some degree. I'm picky about screens but of all the known screen issues out there, I find this one to be relatively minor and not worth exchanging my device for. Some are worse than others however and if it bothers you I would recommend replacing your device as it doesn't go away.

"Perfect panel" means one of two things:

1) I'm happy with my iPad as it is. It meets my needs. I enjoy using it more than running made up tests hoping to find defects.

2) I ran a bunch of subjective tests that I either made up or read about on the Internet, and in my opinion it passes them all.

Displayed device are the same devices you are buying in any store.

Perfect panel to me means an even screen, warm white to bluish white, not yellow, no color gradients, dead pixels, dust under screen, backlight bleed or book spine. The last perfect panel I had, as far as I could tell (I don't test for all of these things), was on my iPad 4. My Air 1 and current Air 2 have perfectly acceptable screens with minor flaws that I can live with. It's harder to see flaws on demos in the Apple store that are set on full brightness all day and are viewed under bright lights.

as i said "if you know how to take photos". it starts from using cards as a reference point. if you just point and shoot, yes, it is pointless...

How to I check if my display is ok? Turned on an black wallpaper to check for clouding. At least that seems ok.

Theirs nothing wrong with my iPad Air 2 picture but some will look for problems and these people must live a perfect life and supply perfect goods.

Give us a break
