Pretty sure I had a half yellow screen on my iPad 3 when I first got it, and it definitely went away over a period of a couple weeks.

Picked up an absolutely perfect Air in space grey on Thursday. Wish I could have said the same about my iPhone 5 when I first got it.

That always happens on forums though. You tend to get a large number of problem posts because those are the posts that get attention. I'm sure the users are having trouble, not doubting that. But, the forums get boring quickly if every thread just keeps saying how wonderful their new iPad is.

I suspect of the millions and millions of iPad airs sold are just fine and the percentage of truly bad ones is small. If that weren't true and there really was some major epidemic of a problem, it'd be headline news everywhere.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Now I did. :D Had an unquestionably yellowed screen on my first but Apple exchanged it for a clean one.

I finally got home and gave it a full inspection under my bright lamps looking for damage or dings. I ran a series of color pattern tests checking for lint, abnormal light bleed, dead pixels, or banding along the left side some folks have said they had. It checked out perfectly fine. Same for the gyroscope.

I can finally enjoy it in peace really happy w/ my purchase. Good luck guys!!

OCD much? :)

If I found a dead pixel I'd exchange it immediately.

It's not a big deal. There's always going to be *something* that's not perfect. Besides, it's in the corner, so it doesn't detract from anything. Now if it were a BUNCH of dead pixels, or the thing were beat to hell, then of course I would exchange it. But not for 1 pixel. That, to me, is absurd.

I commend your lack of OCD but I'd have exchanged it already lol.

Ordered from Apple on Tuesday night, 32gb wifi space gray arrived Friday. There was a sticky glue like substance on the chamfered edge. Came right off. There is a TINY bit of backlight bleed at the bottom that was only noticed with a pure black background. I slightly flexed the iPad body and it pretty much went away. Not worth a trip to Indy to return an otherwise flawless iPad. Man things thing is light and I can pretty much palm it with one hand. Sweet.

I got mine today. But I probably haven't inspected it as thoroughly as I should. It looks perfectly fine, but I won't know for sure until I have examined the internals with a magnifying glass.
