I'm still happy with mind and I have no regrets. The only thing I would do differently is to purchase the 512 gb flash instead of the 768 gb flash and saved myself a few bucks. The reason being is I am storing data, etc., to externals. :)

Just eyeballing it my Samsung is in between your two displays in terms of white balance. Definitely less yellow, but not as cool as a retina iPad for sure in either case.

There is a definite variance in displays, though, and I would suggest as others have to see if you can exchange it for a cooler display.
You know what mine seems like that too.

I run my display with a way warmer profile than is normal. For real photography work accuracy might be important but for everyday normal work I think warmer color are so much easier on the eyes. Much more in sync with lighting and real colors in work environments.
The profile I used i got from this forum when I bought it by a guy who calibrated his. I tried to calibrate myself with built in tools and subjective measuring and the results were terrible.
I cannot stand my default color settings. Directly switching back it looks horribly blueish and way too cold and switching back to worm looks very yellow. Whites don't really matter though once you get used to them and when you sit on your desk the warmer one works soo much better for long hours. I also much like my flux tool which automatically warms the colors when it gets dark outside.
A perfect screen should tune right in with the lighting around your work place IMO.

Anyone with an LG screen and happy. I have an LG but no problems so far. Worried about the future if I keep it. It is a great machine.

We've got a pair of rMBPs at home (wife and I). One (mine) is LG...hers is Samsung. Love them both...and the LG is the older of the two--purchased in mid July. No IR. No lag. No issues.

I've said it before...in 25 years of buying computer gear, it's my favorite purchase I've made. Mine has the 768GB SSD option--hers, the 256. I'll be ordering her a 1TB drive in the future (from OWC) when they're available. We love them. No regrets.

I almost bought a third...last week, in Best Buy--they had an open box sale. They had a 2.6/8/512 open box @ 2300 (and change). The extra 10% brought down to just over $2k. An amazing deal...but I don't need it. I don't mind spending a bit more at 'launch' for these rMBPs....as they're worth every penny!

I'm with whoever mentioned trying to sell the mini instead. Is that an option for ya?

My lg screen was replaced with a Samsung and I love it.

^ This is disturbing: Reading how many people have had to have their screens replaced because they were defective the first go around (or many go arounds). Apple's been great in addressing the problem but still...

As for me, I've been through 4 retinas all with warm displays. I've also seen 2 anti-glare models with a yellower screen.

It makes me hesitant to keep trying because I keep getting the same result.

If this color temperature were a new standard that Apple adopted, everyone's screen would been universally the same white point. But at the Apple Store the majority of the retina MacBook Pros on display had a far whiter white than the models I have been opening up from Apple.

What to do, what to do?

I'm content with it.

Not being able to watch youtube full screen without frame skips is just ridiculous. Sure, I can switch to 2880, but I thought this was the best laptop they ever made?

My mild backlight bleeding did go away, but now I noticed pressure marks near the bottom of the screen that reaches towards the center of the screen. Only noticeable when there's 50% gray on the screen, like in Photoshop. Deciding to live with it, or having them replace and having a chance of a lesser screen/further problems through disassembling. :(

Here's a pic I took that illustrates my conundrum. The retina is on the left. My old MacBook Pro is on the right.

Am I being too picky? It seems that all Apple laptops come with this color temperature now...

This post reminds me how much I miss my 17" Antiglare. It's such a shame that they killed them off.

I'm still really happy with it, no buyers remorse. :)
The screen is awesome, had no single issue with it.
I had luck, it came with the Samsung screen.
Although I live on a very sunny island, almost no glare that bothers me!
I've worked with anti-glare screens that hindered much more when sunlight was in the background.

The speed is great, boot-time is still the same as when it was new, 14 sec.
Video-editing is a joy on this machine, and I only have the base model!

It is my best Mac experience in years. (I was happy with all the Macs I had)

Love that it is very silent, I live in the Caribbean and it gets hot here.
Many Macs and computers get very hot here and the fans start kicking in, but this machine stays pretty cool and silent!

Short said: Still LOVE it! :D:apple:

Ultimately I would love a 27 inch iMac retina and a retina 13 inch air. I am happy with my pro but am considering buying a new imac when they update to haswell,

I'm kind of low on funds and was considering to sell my 2.3 15" MBPr with 16GB. I love it but since I upgraded my mini to 8GB I'm having a hard time justifying it. Just curious how many people still have their ORIGINAL purchase MBPr 15" and are still happy with it and have no ghosting issues etc.

I still have mine since July 2012... But, if it's a redundant product for you, sell it! It's only a piece of electronic that can be re-bought at any time!

I've had it just over a week. I'm actually debating returning my it! The design is impeccable. The retina screen is smooth and crisp. It's just that — to me — the white balance of the display is too warm. My photography teacher friend, who has an eye for this kind of thing, noticed it seems off too. At first I thought it was a bit yellowish. She thinks — and I now agree — it's more of a red push. .....

Mine [ July 2012 Build ] is milky white, just like my iPad 3. The iPad 4 is a bit warmer, but more pleasing when reading at night.

I was near the Apple Store tonight & had my MacBook Pro retina with me. I couldn't stay that long for a genius appointment but long enough to compare my screen against those on the floor. Of all the Macs on display mine only came close to the LG screen 15-inch retina MBP. The new iMacs & classic MacBook Pros looked neutral white by comparison.

I've got a stuck pixel and I still love this computer to death. It's the only type of computer i'll ever buy from now on.

Just bought mine in December and I love it. Luckily got a Samsung screen so no IR issues. I did however have a problem with the screen flashing whenever I woke it up from sleep but a full restore fixed that.

Why dont you take it in for repair?

At first I thought it was a bit yellowish. She thinks — and I now agree — it's more of a red push. I even noticed the Apple logo glows a little pink. I've tried Apple's built-in calibration tool. I can't make a profile that looks neutral to me. I don't have a radio spectrometer to calibrate it. And I'm not going to go out and buy one. It's a such a let down considering my iPad retina has what I consider neutral whites. Otherwise I really love the computer! Argh, what should I do?!

By the way, this one's got an LG screen. I can't see any image retention. I haven't done any tests — but I have not been looking for it either.

I actually had a rMBP for about a week (LG screen). It also had the red/magenta hue to it that I could not calibrate out even with an X-rite i1 Pro and two different software packages. It was always more red than my cinema display calibrated with the same hardware/software. And the logo on the back was pink, leading me to believe it was something about the backlight itself being more red.

Due to this and the fear of the image retention, the machine went back. Waiting for the next gen hoping the screen issues get sorted out by then.

No complaints at all, absolutely perfect for almost everything! I use it everyday for video editing and 3D modeling, beside the EFI bug...is frustrated!

I love mine. :) I've had to go through 3 total but this one is perfect and I won't upgrade to anything else but rMBPs if the future ones rock as much as these.

The only problem with this I have is they probably won't have it sorted out in the next gen unless they use a completely different panel design. Looking at the classic 15-inch in the store it has the same 9CA4 panel that's been used in that model for many generations. Not to implicate there's a problem with it (it looked good).

Closest Apple Store is two hours away, it's just not a big enough problem for me to be worth that hassle.

Question: if my girlfriend was to drive my computer down would she be able to get it fixed for me? Or can only I do it? She's heading to the city tomorrow.

YMMV, but AFAIK anyone can take it in... I've had my best friend's iPhone serviced/replaced a couple of times and it was no hassle!

I am. Ordered in August and have 0 issues. No IR/Ghosting/Lag/etc.

Love it, spent too much, but love it and have 0 regrets.

I've had mine for about 6 weeks. It is still awesome!

What amazes me is that I don't even turn on my gaming desktop anymore because it's more convenient to play on my laptop and the rMBP is definitely up for the task. Skyrim and GW2 both play beautifully.

I'm happy I opted for the 2.6 as I think I get a 5-10% frame boost but wish I had also opted for 512GB SSD.. Living with 2 OSs within 256 GB is harder than I thought.
