Is your new iPad perfect?

My screen is perfect. Only problem I have, and this is kind of stupid, on the aluminum back, there is what appears to be two streaks like you would see from not getting windex off a mirror. It almost looks like the finish coating or something streaked in the factory. You can only see it if I hold it under the light. Doesn't seem like a good reason to return if the screen is so great.

Yes, it's like walking into a hospital and asking "who is sick here?" and 14% raise their hands....

For a Macrumors audience to claim 14% had a problem, that means that in the REAL world that percentage is probably less that 1%...

If 3 million were sold the first weekend, than 420,000 had defects.

how come no one who has a "perfect" screen/ipad puts a picture up? i would like to compare these perfect screens to my not so perfect screen.

I'm going to have to change my vote to NO.

My first iPad was OK for the most part. Exchanged it because I wanted larger capacity. Replacement had a dead pixel and bad back light bleed. Exchanged that for another and this one's screen has a pink hue. I might try another replacement, however, an extra $800 in my pocket until these issues are sorted out sounds pretty good right now to be honest.

Because we are happy about it and have better things to do with our iPads.

Here is mine.

You judge wheter its screen is a peach or not (16 GB WIFI).
F'me it's a pleasure to look at.

PS: had no chances to compare mine...

Enjoy.

1st pic: black screen (no bleeding)
last pic: white at 100%

Why should we waste our time taking a picture of our new iPads? .... If you're having a problem with your iPad just take it back and exchange it. Obviously from myself and others who posted here there are iPads that don't have any issues.

Frankly I'm too busy enjoying my New iPad to waste time taking pictures of it. :D

Ummmmm, no.

If 3 million were sold the first weekend, 800 of those people decided to log on to Macrumors and express their views, and of those, 664 said theirs was perfect.

The other 2,999,200 people we don't know, but a fair guess is that a lot less of them had issues and are happy using their new iPads right now....

Sure. If it was so few, why is apple calling owners to check on the issues and their satisfaction?

14% defect rate is probably a conservative estimate.

It's obvious that apple is concerned with the high defect rate if they are making personal calls to individuals.

Ummm, sure. Ok. If you say so.

I guess a company can't be committed to customer satisfaction unless it has at least a 10% failure rate...

I think mine is pretty neutral..this is my second iPad 3 first was pretty yellow.

Brightness barely half way. No screen bleeding no dead pixels no unbalanced colors thankfully . It's no where cool as my iPad 2 which now I see that's much too blue

Is that a screenshot? Screenshots don't show discolouration unless the one you're viewing it on has discolouration.

Quite the opposite IMO. Most of us are big fans of Apple, fanboys even, and would be more inclined to say that our brand new Apple product is perfect even if it isn't.

My first day with the new iPad and so far I'm totally satisfied with clean screen. It's a pleasing jump from iPad 1 to 3.

Oh please. You've been here long enough to know this place attracts not only fans but folks looking for help (because they have a problem). And some crazies too...

Oh please. They should change the name of this forum to MacWhiners. The complaints are off the charts. Do you really think someone who exchanges a product 8 times is demonstrating an issue with the product? Maybe it's more like unrealistic expectations or other problems.

These are just pieces of technology. None of them is "perfect" but the vast majority are "perfect enough". The yellow screen thread is a perfect example. There are some real problems in the thread and I'm not talking about the screens.

Sounds like you're whining. :p

Just because it has an apple logo doesn't mean people should lower their standards and accept defects.

There's a difference between defects and reality. I don't accept defects either. I've returned items out of the box with defects. But, for example, the astonishing defect that if you look at the screen off angle you get color shift and dimming! Heavens, call the defect police!

Please!

Depends on the angle of the view.
The iPad is capable of a 178 degree viewing angle, which it should retain color and brightness at least 70% through the view angle range.

May be apple took a step backwards on the retina panel?

Tonight the iPad died while plugged in. Playing Infinity Blade 2 and I ran it dead on the charger.

We really need better charging.

That is my only problem with the new iPad.

Newsflash. Just because one person sees something as a defect or problematic and another sees it as acceptable or normal doesn't mean it's neccessarily any of those things. One person chooses to care, the other does not, or perhaps can not.

But the fact is, not EVERY iPad 3 shifts in color drastically when viewed at an angle. I am on my 3rd one. The first two turned a horrible greenish/pink when angled slightly away from my face. The third one gets a bit warmer colored, but not pink.

Why are people so bent on insisting these things are higher quality than they are??? A screen this high-res in mass production is new territory for any LCD manufacturer...there are BOUND to be problems, and based on the posts slowly dominating this forum, at least SOME people are seeing them.

If you don't see them, great! Maybe you got a perfect screen. Or maybe you got a screen that the next person would call defective, but you either don't care, or aren't looking hard enough. But don't insist that I don't know what I'M looking at, because in fact, I do.
