I used to rehab old Macs and sell them for up to $200. Don't do that anymore but I do have:
An Apple III with color screen
A Macintosh (runs system 6)
A Macintosh SE30 (runs system 7.5)
A Macintosh Quadra 840
2 Macintosh IIci runs 7.6
a macintosh LC 580 (pizza box) runs 7.5
An 8600 with Cd drive, zip drive and and floppy drive
A Bondi Blue Rev B with all Bondi Blue accessories
An iMac G5
A Mac Pro Quicksilver which has been upgraded an multiple number of times and runs Leopard

Notebooks:

a Powerbook 170
a Powerbook 190
A Ti Book
2 Mac book Pros

I LOVE them all.

They all work and I consider them a great history of design.
Would LOVE: a clamshell iBook
a G4 Cube

I guess you can tell that I "heart" Apple Computers and Apple, Inc.
don't get me started on iPods. :D

PS Gotta go, pizza's getting cold.

Well, a PPC Mac can use an ADC monitor, sometimes. Can an Intel Mac do that?

yea, an intel mac can connect to an ADC monitor; you just have to supply $99 for an adaptor

Yep.
The intro of the G5 (what a gr8 WWDC that was..!!!) seemed like the PPC had made a turn for the better.
A superb new Power Mac with excellent specs, and it looked like IBM had saved the PowerPC.
However, it never made the 3 GHz, and as it was impossible to get it into a laptop (or IBM wasn't bothered enough to really, really try... dunno...), and so we got another superb WWDC: Intel announcement.
I remember some "Threw up a bit in my mouth™" remarks back then, but man, hasn't it been a brilliant move! Alongside Boot Camp and Parallels, it just leaped us back into the lead really.

I do agree with Intel being more or less being a monopolist. Usually a bad thing in the long run...
I just wonder if Apple still are doing a secret dual binary of their OS...? You know, "Marklar", but then the other way around: Mac OS X 10.6 (and later) on PPC, but not officially, and certainly not released.... but deep down in the basements of 1 Infinite Loop....

I imagine Apple has OS X running on every architecture there is, even PPC, just in case.

I have a Powermac Dual G5 1.8ghz the one with 8 memory slots :D and a Powerbook G4 1.5ghz that i gave to my brother when i got my 2.4ghz Macbook Pro 15"

One thing i REALLY REALLY REALLY miss from the Powerbook is the ability to switch battery's without switching off the damn computer, just close lid and swap battery's and carry on.

The Powerbook could do that? Wouldn't it switch off as soon as the battery was disconnected?
Now I'm tempted to try this :D

sorry but what a pointless thread

Sadly, the only two computers in the house are PPC. One day I will upgrade...

And yes this is a pointless thread.

Actually, I think this thread has more of a "point" than many of the garbage threads that poison forums. PPC and before processors are an integral part of Apple's history and legacy. It's a pretty huge testament to those machines to see how many people still use them to this day as a daily computer.

I think often how much I wish I still had my old "all-in-one" Macintosh. That was the king of computers for me and I used that beauty for a very very long time. My Apple IIe & Macintosh probably lasted a combined 15 years. I miss those babies. :)

I own 2. Gigabit Ethernet PowerMac G4 and Dual 1 GHz Mirror Drive Door. The MDD is used every day.
