I will be going to the Apple store to switch my space gray for silver. I always wanted the silver but couldn’t get my hands on a 256 Silver launch day. My local store now has the silver in the 256. Anyone made the switch? I am switching because always liked the lighter color and the shiny band! The space gray is nice, but just came from 7 plus jet black. A little tired from the dark color.

I was thinking about switching to Silver but checked it out in store since they had stock. I prefer the SG version. Looks so nice with the blended PVD coating. Will wait for my pre-order or a SG to be available locally. Only the Silver versions are popping up locally.

I preordered the Space Grey October 27th...switched preorder to Silver on October 30th. Seeing more videos of the Silver, I could not resist the nod to the old iPhones and the beauty of it! I ordered through my carrier so they still had some Silver 256gb left for launch day by then (which is all they left, actually)

No regrets, the Silver is even more beautiful in person and in natural lighting.

Originally ordered the space gray, and seeing the phones in person has only served to validate my decision. It’s definitely the right color for me. Looks great against the saddle brown leather too!

I have the silver and saw Space Gray in store and want to return it so bad. However, I bought my phone from T-Mobile so I will just wait a year to upgrade the phone to a different color.

You have 14 days to return or exchange. You don’t have to wait a year

My father purchased the SG, but now loves the Silver. We have T-Mobile, but none in stock. There is an Apple store that has a Verizon. Can he simply do an exchange? T Mobile to VZ?

I never felt I had much of a choice, the silver one doesn’t look good imo, so SG it was. Not too into black phones, and I miss the white bezels, however the phone more than makes up for it by being fantastic.

Space Grey, no question. I handled both this weekend and the "dirty light grey" and chrome band just looks, well, too showy. It's like a lot of people on here are buying their iPhones for other peoples aesthetic benefit, not their own. Me? I like my phones to be a bit less showy, more classy, and better suited to every day and business life. Same with cases. Black leather please.

Tons of people have wanted an all black front with lighter color back for years. Me being one. Doesn’t mean I’m doing it for other people.
The original iPhone was like this and I’ve always Hated white color front glass. I love this color combo on the new phone. I’ve has black phones since 3g. And tried one white phone for iPhone 5 and hated it because of the front glass.
If your phone is in a case why do you care? You can barely tell a different in cases.

I switched this morning.
I wanted Silver all along, but they only had Space Grey at my store on Nov 3rd... got lucky with a reservation this morning for a 256 Silver and I jumped on it.

I have to say, the Space Grey was nicer than I thought and the camera cluster is less noticeable than on the Silver. Both are nice colours, personally speaking I had dark variations for my last two iPhones so I wanted to switch it up this time around.

I ordered space gray, decided to cancel the order and get the X on launch from the store.

Got in the store and handled both and it was amazing how insanely dirty the space gray phones were, lol it was crazy I should have taken a pic. Anyway I went with the Silver because honestly it just looked so nice and well put together.

However after a few days and using my Apple silicone cases and seeing that chrome peeking out from the bottom has me missing the black against the red product red case like I had for the 7plus. To be honest I don’t know if i’ll Exchange because Apple makes it really difficult to exchange an iPhone that’s on the Apple upgrade program where you have to return the phone and go through the whole entire process all over again with citizens one and all.

I may just keep it and roll with the newness that the phone brings and if I could for the life of me find an Apple midnight blue silicone case (sold out) it would match my watch perfectly which has a blue & black bezel together with the polished stainless steel

You don’t think people might like the Silver because it suits their own aesthetic? I like the Silver because the stainless steel reminds me of the early iPhones, and I like the back, because, well, I always liked the lighter iPhone models and the shifting white to gray of the silver and glass reminds me of my old 4. I like a bright phone and even when I have tried to go with the darker model I have always ended up with the lighter iPhone models. They just appeal to me. I am sure my professional life will not suffer due to my Silver X.

Also, aren’t your own subjective opinions about the SG being “better suited” to business life in some way about appealing to other peoples perceptions? Otherwise why would it matter?

Space Black looks like it will not scratch over time (remains to be seen) so probably would be the best choice for caseless but I still prefer the look of silver overall.

For sure, each unto their own. There's a difference in appealing to other peoples perceptions and wanting show off that you have the latest and greatest. I don't need a flashy chrome band and silver back to show off that I have an iPhone X, but a lot of people do.

My wife and I have one of each between the two of us, I have the SG she has the silver, but I am thinking about returning mine for a silver. From the keynote, I thought the silver SS band was on both models. I have had a apple watch since the series 0 launched. I have always had a SS version and like the look of the black screen with the SS band. Most likely going to get the silver if one happens to be in stock locally.
