11510 items, 34:19:16:25 total time, 145.76GB

It's getting bigger - about 3/8 is lossless and I'm busy re-ripping

It lives on a 1.5TB Infrant Raid 5 server, with a mini to look after it...

Almost 20,000

I've had iTunes for a bit over a year and have loaded almost 20,000 songs into it. I've got everything at 192kbs Mp3. I just got my first iPod, a 4g 60gig which as just over 11,000 songs on it now (with a gig to spare). I got the 4g because my Mac is a G3 and I need to use Firewire. All the songs are from my CD collections including those that I've converted from LP (it's reassuring to hear surface noise over the iPod.

9980 Songs/28:19:29:19 Total Time/53.46GB.

Almost at 10,000...and trying to stay away from 128 now...

it's hard to listen to all this

I have 99% encoded at 320 AAC format using itunes. I Just recently downloaded (purchased) the ITUNES complete box sets of depeche mode, U2, bob dylan, stevie wonder, smashing pumpkins bsides rarities, and the doors perception. I personally encoded my whole collection from the actual CD using Itunes except ITMS purchases. I love box sets, and also remastered greatest hits of my favorite artists.

I know who has the biggest! (Interesting Read)

I read through the last year's postings . . .

The Winner:

Some guy with 140,000 songs on one 1.3 Terabyte drive. Claims this is only half of his collection! Seemed legit. Some documentation. Was a music industry professional?

#2 A claim of a "friend's Uncle" who had (over 80,000)
#3 A verified by screenshot (76,000)
#4 A verified by screenshot (64,000)
#5 A verified by screenshot (57,000)

I am an itunes newbie (unbelievably) . . just got a new high end mac and have uploaded in (from CD) 4000 songs 22 Gig. All AAC 192 kbps.

This whole "new" mac craze is really amusing.

I used mac products . . BEFORE they were mac products.

I got an apple II (no plus) in 1980 with no hard drive (didnt exist). We used to clip the 3.5" floppies so we could use both sides and double their storage from 363K to 726K . . (for the larger games)

The big deal back then was having an 80 inch column card and knowing how to dial into BBSs (Bulletin Board Systems).

Or having a . .get this . . .48K . . yes . . K . . .or 64K internal ram expansion card . .because the original models only came with 16K

16K of Ram . . . and now I have a Gig. What a trip. Approacing a million times the amount of RAM as was available 27 years ago . . .

At least it was a step up from the Radio Shack TI-99s and TI-4as of the late 70s . .which only had 4K and 8K of on board memory . .

Ahh . . .the days of manually programming moving low rez objects . . . hahahaha. GR or HGR anyone? lol.

In the late 80s we were using Macs to design college newspapers . . .and run little graphic design companies

At least i can now tell my younger brother to " _______ it up his _______".

This is sweet revenge for 20 years of being told how lame macs were (which they never were)

I simply cannot wait for the new iphone. Digitally viewable voice mail? Wow . .might actually get voice mail for my cell phone again!!!!!!!

Enjoy

Michael

p.s. My friend . .who has a $15,000 beyond custom stereo set up says AAC 192 kbps is the best combination of quality/size. He says that The "end equipment" has way more of an effect on sound (having the right speakers for high end, low end, "separation" and low tone bass) . . . . then whether the file is AAC or lossless . .or whether it is 192 kbps or 320 kbps

He should know . .he was one of the 1st 8000 subscribers to AOL!

Mines a humble collection:

4038 songs
16.38 GB
10.6 days of music

But, that currently has only my CD's in it. I still have a bunch of records LP's, 45's, and 78's that I plan on getting recorded into the computer and onto CD's. Then, I'll get the resulting CD's into iTunes as MP3's.

And, then of course, I have to get all the cassette tapes through the same process. So, when I get that done, I'll probably end-up tripling or quadrupling my iTunes collection.

Of course, now all I need is the time ;)

Wouldnt it be easier just buy CD versions of your old tapes?
