Wouldnt it be easier just buy CD versions of your old tapes?

Much easier, but also much more expensive.

I have everything I need to get the music onto CD (already done a few).

But, to repurchase every album at $10 a CD would cost me at $3000 or so. I have a ton of them.

Of course, it would be nice to save the time. But, in the end, I have more time than money.

It's not the size of the library.

It's how you use it.

You can have 40k songs, encoded lossless, only listen to them on Shure E9 headphones, or whatever. BUT! It's all ***** if you don't have good music.

What is are your best three albums, if you have to pick only three?

I'll go with:

1. Radiohead - The Bends
2. Roger Waters - The Pros and Cons of Hitchiking
3. Spoon - Gimme Fiction

I got my iPod in November of last year for my overseas trip.

I currently have: 704 songs : 2.97GB
These are just downloaded / bought songs.
I like the quality of my cds, so i havent ripped any of my 250+ albums. :)

Music: 4878 items, including 13 music videos (18.98 GB)

Short Movies: 3 items (149.5 MB)

Podcasts: 439 items (8.69 GB)

Audibooks: 1 item (23.3 MB)

Well, it is just not responsive if you go over.. say 20k songs. I have a 1.8 ghz iMac G5, and I get the spinning ball a lot. It was better for a while in iTunes 5, but now I don't know...

i know what ya mean, i have 73Kish songs and when im DJ'ing at partys it gets on the long side switching songs sometimes

I might have a run for the biggest library of TV Shows. I have 1258 Episodes of 38 different TV shows, totalling 30 days contanstly played or 332GB. Only a few are bought off of iTunes. The rest have been ripped off of DVDs using the h.264 setting in Handbrake. Then I use Lostify to tag every episode in detail.

I have way too much time on my hand.

108.5 days of music 15.78gb

I only have 3590 songs, but i got 108.5 days of music. I must have long songs or something. Cause a lot of people have way more songs, but less days of music.

thats nothing!

my music teacher has about 300 gigs and theyre all in like 5 different hardrives and ipods. he has so much that he use the skool comps hardrive for music.

itunes

23507 songs, 72.7 days, 120.47GB
which is a about 2/3 of entire collection, most entire discographies i have ripped to dvd 'cause statistically they clog up the shuffle mode (~60GB)

smart playlist

I have 9507 songs, 158.5 days, 51.64 GB.
Most everything done at 192 AAC.
99% legal, I borrowed about 10-15 CDs from my brother-in-law, the rest is mine and my wife's CDs or a few from iTMS.

BUT, to make sure I listen to them, I have a smart playlist that is built on anything that has a play count of less than 1.
Then I hit play and shuffle and get a non-stop mix of new stuff.

I like the ability to bring my iPod with me and have almost anything I want to listen to. Only the 30ig 3G, but it still works fine.

I was bored and just read the whole thread, I think there are about 5 libraries over 50k songs, and maybe 20-30 over 20k. The winner is still icorproadie with over a terabyte.
Maybe the ROADIE part of his name is a hint. ;)
But he posted 4 times last Feb and disappeared. Would have been nice to see a screen shot.

I just hit a few milestones. Picked up 2 cds today and am now over 4000 tracks. But possibly an even bigger milestone is I now have my first song with 100 playcounts. Strange that its taken this long as I have over 25,000 playcounts in a library that the first added track was in June 2003. Anyway the track is Hanging Marionette by The Appleseed Cast.

4020
13.5 days
21.05GB

some more stats:
a little over 18 playcounts a day average.
thats about 6 1/4 playcounts per track.

140,000 Songs, over 472 days, and 1.3 terabyte. Thas is just on my Music Server which is in the process of being redone, so its about 1/2 of what I really have as I am still importing music back into iTunes from my total of 3 terabytes of music I do own. (All Legal)

On my MBP i have 10,957 songs, 42.3 days and 83.92 GB of music.

I just conducted an interview with a man who has over 200,000 tracks (850GB). Check it out here.
