Based on the few leaks we have seen I am not terribly excited. It's all but certain that we lose the headphone jack, which I use daily to this day. I'll have to gain something great to make that sacrifice.

You'll get an extra speaker and minimal battery life improvement.

Seems like there might be slightly more to it than just that.
Don't get me wrong - I'm sure the iphone 7 will contain lots of improvements, but the question was "what will I get for loosing the headphone jack" and it looks like that space will be taken by he extra speaker and a slightly larger battery.

So excited for the 7. Well the 7 plus or whatever. I'm really hoping for a design change, they are good at surprises sometimes.. Don't really care about the headphone jack if they give bluetooth ones or a solution.

Wanting a bigger battery, better screen (oled would be amazing) and new camera sensor.

6 months guys!

If you buy it on the payment plan, then even if there is a 4" 7, you can just upgrade without missing a beat with no negative financial impact. I think it's the least likely scenario that there will be a new 4" 7 in 6 months, but there likely will be in a year. It will also probably cost $599, not $399.

I'm not trying to start a debate, but you do lose money upgrading constantly. As someone that has been suckered in many times, I have first hand knowledge! You lose the payments that you have already paid for your old phone and restart new payment all over again. That's a financial loss, which is fine if one finds it worth it to them. Financing anything has pros and cons. Apple and the carriers are all loving the trend of so many trading in their phones every year for a new one. They get the money you've already paid, your old phone (which they'll sell) and they get your new payments on your new phone. It's a win win win for them.

I wait for iPhone 7 even iPhone 17 in order to see if APPLE could be the leader in smartphones.

Yep, big smiles all around I'm sure. For years the general thought was US fans would never want to pay the actual cost of an iPhone and subsidies were the only way to go. They managed to create a system that pretty much keeps people upgrading and generates revenue on used phones. Brilliant.

It's a fair system for the consumers as well. When you're phone is paid off, your bill drops significantly. And you have the flexibility to sell your phone at any time. In the old world you just paid that monthly cost forever, even when the phone was paid off. That also helps fuel the market for BYOD....which the carriers are happy to fill with those used iPhones they get back from NEXT/EDGE.

There's nothing to debate. You don't understand how the new payment plans work. You don't have to trade in your phone if you don't want to. You only have to pay for the phone in full which you are financing interest free. You can opt out at any time, no penalties or hidden fees. There's no loss for the customer.

I'll be paying off my 6s (on Next 12), upgrading to whatever the 7 is, selling my 6s, like I do every year.

Ok. You are correct about not losing value from your previous phone, should you pay it off and keep it. My point is that you are "losing" money, in the sense that you are spending more money than just keeping the phone that you have currently. It's not an even trade. People have this misconception with cars, too. Sure, maybe they offer you a lower interest rate and your monthly payment slightly decreases, but you lost your previous payments and start the payment clock all over again.

People who do that don't care about value. They just want what's new.

Exactly. To them, it's worth it. If you can afford to do it, no problem. I think a good many people can't really afford it, but they are deceived into it by upgrade programs. Credit has become so easy to get in our society, and it's not always for the better.

This enough already. Too thin and it will dig into one's hand. Too thin and thinner battery which we need more of not less. Get rid of the 3Dtouch and gives us more battery life. To thin and more protruding camera lens. Got it ?

So what?
I could care less about the protruding camera.

I want a thinner iPhone and with higher ppi display, and no pentile matrix display.

Apple will appease one of us. Hope it's me. ;)

Definitely getting the 7. I had the 5S and currently have the 6S so I'm looking forward to getting the new hardware first for a change. Not had my 6S that long though so I may wait a few months unless the improvements are crazy.

Just ordered an SE the other day, it'll be replacing my 6. If the SE never came into existence, I would have upgraded to the 7 in September. But now I'll be sticking with the SE no matter what the 7 has, and I'd like to stick with the 4" form factor in the future.

It'll be interesting to see what they do going forward. Can anyone really see Apple releasing new hardware for a 4" phone?

It won't be you. Thinner ? No way. Slightly thicker as the 6s and 6s+ is over the 6 and 6Plus, yes. Slightly thicker for the better battery, good chance. Goodness, how much thinner do you want anyway ?

Follow the money. If the SE sells a lot, they'll release another one. It's no different than any other product made by any company. They make what sells, and they sell what makes the most money.

Time will tell.
Ideally between 6.5 mm and 7.0 mm

I loved how thin the iPhone 6 was. Just couldn't bear the display.

iPhone 7 may be the first phone I don't buy right away, or outright skip.

I'm on a two year cycle. My first iPhone was a 4, so I disregard the "S" cycles.

The 5 brought a dual-core CPU, slightly bigger screen and LTE, which made it a REALLY worthwhile upgrade over the 4.

The 6 brought touchID and an even bigger screen, making it a REALLY worthwhile upgrade over the 5.

I don't see anything groundbreaking predicted for the 7 yet. In fact, I see the LOSS of a good feature (headphone jack). The camera may be a lot better, but that's what my Canon G7x is for.

So yeah, I may wait until I have problems with my 6 before getting a 7.

I am personally waiting for the next years model. It just seems like its going to be much more of an upgrade!

This years iPhone still sounds good, even with the rumours of next years iPhone being a BIG upgrade!

Today is the 25th, if Apple really are holding their event on 6th or 7th of September, I wonder if the invites will go out today?
