I like the Pro Max but I only really have it for the battery. I’d be totally happy with a Pro if I could get the same battery life as a Max. I can’t, so the Max it is for me.

I’d also take a mini if they could pack insane battery life into it. But of course they don’t make them anymore anyways, so it’s moot.

Have you ever considered the possibility that the reason you're seeing less people with a 16 Pro Max is not because of size but price? The size difference between a 16 Plus and 16 Pro Max isn't much, but the price is.
yes! for sure!

why not just charge once a day at a desk or car? :)

I’ve said this many times, but the Xs was the perfect size for me. I’ve had the 14 Pro for over two years and I still don’t like the size, but there is no alternative… (unless I go older)

I started with a deliberately small iPhone. I got the 5s after the iPhone 6 was launched because I thought I’d prefer a small iPhone. About a year and a half later I upgraded to the 6s, shortly afterwards I upgraded to the 7 Plus. The small iPhone spell was gone, in favour of specs and battery life mainly. I can’t give up the absurdly good battery life of larger iPhones.

Now I have the 16 Plus after upgrading from the Xʀ, and sure, it is more uncomfortable for one-handed use, but I practically never use it one-handed, so I don’t really care. The difference isn’t enough so as to impair its carrying inside my pocket, or usage in general.

I recall my initial battery life impressions with my 7 Plus. Heavy days with the 6s were few and far in between. I don’t update iOS and I’m a light user in terms of apps, so even outdoors LTE (which includes higher brightness) wasn’t enough for battery life to be insufficient. But heavy days and it was pushing it, even on iOS 9. The 7 Plus on iOS 10, with its 10 hours of outdoors cellular SOT, remedied that. And the large iPhone spell caught me. Even heavy camera days weren’t enough to kill the 7 Plus in one day. The issue was solved.

Afterwards, I favoured battery life and specs over pocketability (or size if you like), getting the Xʀ (best battery life of that generation), and the 16 Plus now.

Do I need the battery life? No, but I like to have it. Sure, perhaps if I could use the 1st-gen SE on iOS 10 (or an iPhone as good as that one) and it had the 27-30 hours of SOT I’m getting on the 16 Plus, with a modern design and camera… maybe I’d go back to a smaller iPhone. But it’s always been an either/or decision. Even the 12/13 Mini paled in terms of battery life in comparison with regular, Plus, and Pro Max iPhones. For me, I think the small iPhone ship has sailed, even if Apple were to make one again. Had I upgraded from the Xʀ to the 12 or 13, I wouldn’t have chosen the Mini, not a chance.

Well, I'd prefer an iPhone that is somewhere between the size of the Pro Max and the iPad Mini. Unfortunately, Apple does not consult me for the size of their iDevices.

I prefer large. Typically whatever model has the largest size I will get. I work from home, or in an office where I can set my phone down. My job involves computers with connected keyboards, mice and large monitors. My own preference at home is for large TVs, desktop Macs and lots of large monitors. So my devices are not used as substitute computers, media devices, game consoles or anything else you can typically use a computer for.

I use my phone primarily when out. Which isn't a lot. Calls, texts, light email and light web browsing. Consequently, I want a large device. My life does not exist on my devices, it exists on my computers. Why reach for my device when my hands are already on a keyboard?

So, no. No small devices for me.
This dude knows what they want…nice ha. However, I feel like if you don’t use your phone a replacement for anything cause you have bigger devices then why have the big phone? Wouldn’t you want it to be smaller since you don’t use it anywhere but in the rare occasions you’re out?

I used to have the smaller phones. That works for day to day but it doesn’t work when I go on a trip or whatever else. Overall I’d rather just have the good battery available all the time, and the large phone is not really a problem.

I have a 16e and for me this is the sweet spot in device size with 6.1” screen.

Whilst it’s not a small device like the Mini iPhones, it doesn’t feel like a brick in your pocket & you can just about use it one handed if you’re careful.

Battery life for the device size is excellent.

I like small. Not sure what I'm going to do when my 12 mini is no longer supported.
I recently upgraded from my SE2 to a 15. I *very nearly* got an Apple refurb 13 mini instead - and would have preferred plenty of things about it to the 15, I think - but was worried the battery would either not be brilliant from the outset, or quickly lose health (or both!) And I guess with the 15 I'll have a little more time with it before it becomes unusable...

But I do feel a little buyer's remorse at willingly missing out on the small form factor.

Wonder if they had new battery tech which could fit the 13 mini but boost battery life would it or another mini be reintroduced again ? Or is it gone forever

Just bought 16e white 512 Gb today and finished setting it up. Looks and feels great coming from a 16Plus which was a fantastic phone except it was just physically too big and gave me hand pain and bulky for pockets. So I reluctantly changed and so far pleased with what ingot
I have a MagSafe Torras ultra slim case which holds my old Apple battery pack - hoping it’s not needed ! and also my FW Apple wallet
Issue is the wallet does not show up in Find My - could be that 26e does not do MagSafe ? Or something else ?
Yup, 16e doesn’t have MagSafe, „only“ wireless charging.

I wanted a 16 Pro, but my carrier was short of inventory when I went to upgrade, so I went Pro Max. I thought it would be too big, but it has actually worked out fine for me. Still, I might consider going back down in size in a couple years when I consider upgrading again.

I recently heard that the mini phones have the same (screen/UI) compatibility issues as the old SE had, which is sad because I would really have liked to have one. My 15 Pro is nice but too big, give me an SE 1 or 2 with full screen, please!

The 16e is super interesting really! Battery life should be equal or barely below the 16 Plus, and it is far more comfortable. I used an iPhone Xʀ for 5.5 years, and I never really thought of it as uncomfortable, even if iPhones ballooned in size vs the 5s or other 4-inch iPhones.

After having a barebones camera for so long though (I kinda felt I was burned with the Xʀ, considering the iPhone 11 with its fully-featured camera was released a month after I bought the Xʀ), I don’t think I can abandon the Ultra Wide, full Portrait and the like.

But the 16e is the best iPhone ever in terms of size vs battery life, definitely. And it relatively comfortable (for true comfort, the best iteration is definitely the 1st-gen SE).

I never used one, but I tested a 1st-gen SE on iOS 10 and it was absolutely wonderful. Like the 16e (though not as good), battery life was incredible on iOS 9/10 relative to its size.

I used to use big android phones, and also a 6s Plus, and liked the bigger display. I went smaller with the iphone 11 and 13 and after them I thought I wanted a big phone again so I go a 15 Plus. I quickly realized it was just too big for me. It felt huge in my hand and was too big to comfortably fit in my jeans pockets. I recently switched to a 16 Pro and for me it seems to be a really good size. It fits comfortably in my hand and pockets. I can't see myself ever going with a phone bigger than this ever again, and could definitely see myself going with a future phone that is a little smaller and lighter though. I like the size of the 16 Pro but there is a part of me thinking I should have gotten the regular 16 for its much less weight as I find the 16 Pro to be a little heavy.

I like small. Not sure what I'm going to do when my 12 mini is no longer supported.

I was really hoping next year we might get a bone thrown with a small model getting reintroduced but given there haven't been any supply chain murmurs I think the small phone might be well and truly dead. Next year I'll just get a new battery for my 13 mini and ride it a bit longer. I don't want or need larger phones wearing through my pants.

I have/want a larger phone due to a combination of things. First, is my lack of attention. If I'm worried or thinking about something else, I tend to stop focusing on things. I forget stuff, which when I was younger led to a lot of problems until I started enforcing a number of rules on myself. Even now, it doesn't always work. Just yesterday, I forgot my wallet because I was thinking about something else. A smaller phone means I'm more likely to forget it, lose it, or misplace it.

Second, I prefer large screens for viewing things. And third, holding larger stuff is easier for me.

I plan on getting the iphone air/slim. I want a big but light device. I cant do small because I am 6'6" and my hands are giant. I dont need the pro/max features especially the camera I barely take any photos and I suck at making them nice anyways.

Also battery life is a minimal issue for me. I work from home and as a senior engineer I always have my charger nearby or my device plugged in for testing
