I've done a 180 on mine (15" 1TB 460) and after doing a week-long project on the road I'm fully in regretsville. My external monitor blinks off and sometimes doesn't come back on, my USB mouse consistently doesn't respond after sleep (despite the lights being on), the built-in display flickers, and if I don't open the lid before I undock the external monitor it sometimes just doesn't come back on. And I've tried for a couple of months but I'm just never going to get used to the keyboard.

Though, I did finally actually use the Touch Bar in Photoshop to do something. I accidentally hit "buttons" on the touch bar more than I've ever used them for anything.

I wish I'd just waited for the new iMac for doing real stuff, though the display on the 2016 is great. But my life is a series of bad decision, next of which will be me selling it and eating $800.

A lot of the problems you mention are external monitor related. How do you connect to the external monitor? Have you tried getting a DisplayPort to USB-C cable and just using that?

I posted this in the news article thread. I'm not sure I agree with taking the average from the 2016 launch. If you look at the 2016 MBP results from near launch and those run recently, there is a significant difference. Newer runs seem to average somewhere in the mid 14,000's. I assume Apple has done some software optimizations for this hardware since launch. Though I may be wrong, the 20% performance gain seems to be greatly overstated.
I agree with this because I can notice this difference. I think your right about Apple optimizing the software on the 2017 with the new processors. Albeit it's minor but I can tell you with certain that both 2016 15" I had for several weeks did not have the pep this 2017 has. For some reason the 2016 could not handle multiple pages open going back and forth between websites caused me many colored pin wheels while I waited for the system to catch up with what was processing. The 2017 doesn't have this problem for me.

My MacBook Pro 2016 is sitting on the desk and my 2011 been abused due to it working better. It's been a great disappointment.

My Late 2011 MBP 15 has been a solid performer as well. However, my 2016 MBP 13" (4 ports) has been a solid performer for me so far as well. It really feels a betrayal when one spends thousands of dollars and gets a dysfunctional gadget and I can understand your frustration with it. Why don't you see if you have someone around with a 2016/17 15" and use that and see if there are deeper demonstrate-able hardware issues so that you can get yours replaced at the Store even if they are saying everything is fine in Diagnostics?

Raise a ruckus with them. This is thousands of dollars in question, not pocket change/ alms handed out to a person in need.

This does not seem to me to be a problem with Skylake or GPU even, prima facie. Surely, for real, an Intel processor in 2016 can handle going back and forth between two pages in a web browser. A lot of issues are related to software optimisations, I feel, than the hardware MBP 2016s shipped with.

It's exactly same processor bar a touch of MHz boost and 10bit on the video part... same board architecture also.....

Out of curiosity, what are you doing on your 2011 MBP that the 2016 can’t do? I only ask because I want to understand your stetment.
Reliably works always.

Same machines bar a slight chip change hell the 560 pro is the exact same video card.

It's 'their' not 'there'. Learn that and you will start to appreciate the 2016. ;)

I hadn't even noticed that in the thread title, now that's all I can see. I can't take this thread seriously anymore, thank you I'm out!

Maybe that's why I see so many 'Grammarly' ads on YouTube these days, I honestly didn't think their was a market for that stuff.

There is. ;)

I have come to understand that it is not that they might not know the difference, often times it is just carelessness. I have also found that the problem gets especially compounded when you are not getting graded for your writing and grammar.

They should go back to teaching the three R's, reading, writing, and arithmetic. Unless that's what caused it?

More gold stars, noted!

I've been going back and forth between 2015/2016/2017! The 2015's just feel too old at this point, and Apple refuses to offer a compelling price in the refurb store. The 2017's, dear god, they're just too expensive! 2016 seem to be entering a decent price range refurbished but people talk so much **** about them!

What do you guys think of this deal at Apple?? https://www.apple.com/shop/product/...core-Intel-Core-i7-with-Retina-display-Silver
