Just ordered the 2.5Ghz MBP with 320gb@7200rpm and this will be my first Apple computer since the IIgs back in the 80s. I'm actually switching from an Alienware M15x gaming notebook to the MBP for a variety of reasons. I'm a little nervous about getting to know the Mac OS but am hopeful. I plan on using bootcamp and installing a copy of XP for the mild to moderate amount of gaming that I do and will be obviously using Leopard for everything else. I plan on using my external 24" 1920x1200 Dell LCD with the notebook when I'm not traveling or mobile. I almost pulled the trigger a couple months ago for the "now old" MBP but held off week after week due to the rumors of an incipient refresh. After this morning, I'm really glad I waited.
Don't worry, the Mac will be terrific, switched to a Macbook Pro in April to replace my PC/Notebooks with Linux/Windows. Its by far the best notebook I ever had, and it performs perfectly as desktop, just plug in den Screen and of we go, and Mac OS is so far the moste hassle free OS I used compared to the configuration madness of Linux and Windows XP, which will degrade day by day if one does not constantly defrag and clean the registry
Since I am used to Linux I got along with Mac OS within days, if you know the Windows ways it might take some time.
And Boot Camp + XP makes it a good gaming machine, Crysis runs ok on high/medium. I hope that the new Macbook Pros can do asymmetric SLI under Windows XP or Vista...
And if you are used to the clean cut case, the two finger scrolling, the bigh track pad, the gestures, the back lit keyboard, the light sensors, the mag save adapter, you start wonder why nobody else puts them all into their machines and makes some proper case designs.
Well you could get a wooden laptop case from Asus once I recall
