I was browsing around the app store and the used to have a sub genre in games for example. card, puzzle etc. am I just not seeing it? or is it just no longer there.

I love the new interface...it reminds me of the feeling of Aqua when it first debuted.

I hope 10.7 shares the same GUI.

Having just downloaded and installed it on my three macs, I don't see why people are getting so upset. Yeah, it looks different. But I use Spaces and once I launch iTunes and start a playlist in one Space, I'm off to another Space to do my work and don't look at the interface that much.

It still does everything I need it to do plus a nice new touch with the home sharing thing. My only gripe is that the other two macs show up as "James's Library" and I'm not sure which is which. I wish there was a way to change the name of the shared library (to iMac, MacBook Pro, and Mac Pro) without changing my user name on the mac (I think that's where it pulls the name of the shared library from).

All in all, not that big deal for me cosmetically.

James,

you can easily rename your shared libraries. Open preferences and the first box under the general tab is where you can change your Library name. Just type in whatever you want.

Hover over the “App Store” thing at the top, and click the little arrow that appears

LOL, iTunes 9......should be called iMedia 9.

How much RAM does this bloated piece of software eat up anyway?
Whoa, since you mentioned it, I checked on my machine & found iTunes 8 is taking up more RAM than any other running app on my system. It's using 204MB RAM whether idle or playing music. It's also using the most CPU & threads. I also have Safari, Mail, Terminal & Activity Monitor open.

PS: I wonder if iTunes has memory leaks. After a relaunch, it's using 40 MB RAM. When I mentioned 204MB, iTunes had already been open (but mostly idle) for several hours.

iTunes 9: 250mb of ram and climbing(idle mind you)
iTunes 8: 100mb(playing music)

kthx Apple

Why the design change? Aren't you guys normally about "unified" look for apps/windows? WTF is with this gloss crap?

Apple is making some big blunders lately, and this is coming from someone who liked Snow Leopard. Quicktime X....now this?:(

My iTunes 9 is cruisin’ at under 60 MB of RAM.

Apple really needs to release a simple application for playing back mp3s ONLY. The fact that we have to load up and run, or even have installed, all the other unnecessary crap that some of us dont use (ipods, iphones, itv, apps, itunes music store, etc) is ridiculous.

Snow Leopard was supposed to give us tweaks. It did, sort of...but it could be better.

QuickTime X plays all the files iTunes will, and then some. It doesn't do much else, besides some limited trimming and transcoding abilities.

Changed the display to grey, but I can withstand it. Besides, I only use it to play music, sometimes I close the window entirely.

I find this REALLY annoying!

I often switch between full and mini, and used to be able to toggle with the green button. Now, I gotta hit shift-command-M to get back to the small player.

Stupid.

Option+click on the green button also switches it to mini player mode.

Ugh. What's the point of HIG if Apple never follows it.

Custom gradients, custom toolbar buttons, custom everything. It doesn't match Snow Leopard's UI at ALL!

What I'm wondering is why doesn't Snow Leopard have this UI? I looks fantastic! It, mixed with the new black menus from the dock, and we'd have a hot new UI on our hands. So why Apple? Why not bring this to Snow Leopard?

And to everyone who hates it, you'll get over it. You hated the unified look too when switching from brushed metal, just like you hated brushed metal when switching from aqua. But I'm sure you think I'm wrong and "it's different this time".

I love the white look of it as well. It just looks fresh and clean and clear to me. Infact i like it so much i changed my iPhoto settings to show a white background too :D

The visual style of 9 is far superior to 8. I always liked the dark gray of 8, but after seeing the white background, it just looks so much cleaner. The faint shadows on the play control buttons make them pop out more. Finally, iTMS looks much better. So much so that I might actually use it now.

Who Love the new iTunes Interface?

I wouldn't say I am in love with it…
But I am certainly not as horrified and outraged by its appearance as some folk here on MacRumors appear to be.

It's a fairly neutral bland "face" to my music and I even *gasp* like the new white background…

Each to his/her own I guess.

I still beachballing simply by switching tracks from time to time. Ridiculous.
