1st mac...

Im loving mine. Absolutely flawless, I have none of the problems I've seen listed on this forum. Guess we just got lucky, I knew I was taking a risk getting a RevA product but I was sold on the UniBody...which people still dont give the props it deserves, the thing doesnt feel like any computer I have ever picked up! Solid!

Anyway glad to see there are some flawless machines and some content customers like myself.

Mine's SO good, that the screen is even matte, and there's an additional USB port on the RHS and another FW port on the LHS.

Just kidding, although so far, everything appears to be working well. I haven't tested the ExpressCard slot, burning, and audio input yet, and I have no way to test the DisplayPort currently. The magnetic latch is working flawlessly, however. :)

Yesterday (25/11/08) I took delivery of my second MacBook Pro 2.53 MHz (Late 2008).

My first one (bought minutes after the October 14th Keynote Speech) was sent back immediately due to having a few problems, including a flickering screen, a slight dink on the edge of the aluminium Unibody, and the ExpressCard flap was bent outwards.

The replacement one (I waited a month as I hoped the quality control would improve) is 100% perfect. Perfect 9C84 screen with no dead pixels, no dents or dinks on the Unibody, perfectly flat keyboard keys, firmly fixed battery cover and the ExpressCard flap fits perfectly, so I’m happy :).

From the lack of recent reports about problems with MacBook Pros, it would seem that the quality control at the Shanghai factory has indeed been improved, now that the initial demand has receded. :apple:

*puts hand up

...though... one of the screws holding in the base plate juts out about half a millimeter

I'd call that perfect, and it's going to get used and abused (gently).

Hand held up

Mine is perfect in every detail (and I am used to working to high tolerances) - Shes perfect in build and screen and runs so nice....

:)

mine was perfect until last night after a software update. I think I did an update for safari and after a restart, couldn't connect to the internet. After trying everything that I could think of, I gave up and already plan a trip to the Apple store this weekend. Shut down my MBP. Woke up this morning then turn it back on and try again, and it work ! So, I had no idea what happened last night after the update. It's fine right now, but gave me a big scare last night.

Perfect.

Like you, I was all over the forums reading all the imperfections and unhappy Mac users. However, they really are in the minority, all of the machines I've inspected and my own are perfect. I've now had it for four days and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it (touch wood). It really is a stunning machine. I thought I'd hate the gloss and the black keys etc..., but I've become a fan.

One post in another thread proved to be a good guideline for inspecting your new purchase.

Literally couldn't be happier with it.

okay, I just found out what happened. Time Warner internet was down last night. No wonder I couldn't get on my internet, my cousin's internet, my neighbor's internet.

Yep mines perfect too. There really is nothing wrong with this computer and i am very picky, especially when i spent that much on it so i had them open it in the store just to make sure everything looked right. Everything is so far so good and its been a couple weeks now. :)

are those with perfect machines even free of glitches like the screenshot with the 9600 on battery power issue? i just tested that one on my machine and it futzed it up so badly i had to do a hard reset. that said, its a specific and avoidable glitch (i'm generally on the 9400 when on battery anyway).

i can also get my system confused if i am plugging in and unplugging external monitors while the lid is closed... but under general usage conditions, this thing performs like a champ!

oh! one thing though... i'm pretty sure my machine had a perfect trackpad to start with, but i applied the firmware update as nobody seemed to be indicating that it CAUSED problems... but i swear i've now started getting the very occassional missed tap (i don't click) where i didn't before. boo!

Mine's perf, too. In fact you could say it's too perfect. Maybe I should exchange it. I'm sick of everyone complaining but me; and I do so enjoy a good whinge.

LOL I was just getting ready to suggest that myself, but you beat me to it. :D

mines perdy. The only imperfection i can spot is that the edge of the battery cover isnt flush with the side of the macbook. Oh well, not worth making a fit over.
I need to build my rep at the apple store

purrfect!

Having had problems in the previous three generations of MBP, I'm yet to see a single defect on my Unibody. The highest quality MBP I ever had! :D

Note: mine is a base model

Perfect

Another perfect MBP here. Not a single thing wrong with it. I updated from a white MacBook (which was also perfect) and I'm really happy that I did. The screen on the 15" MBP is absolutely beautiful. Also great for gaming.

Cheers.:D

While there's no such thing as a "perfect" computer, my early-2008 MBP is flawless! Absolutely no body defects, scratches, warping, hinge problems, dead pixels or problems with heat or battery life. Hard drive is very fast and makes no sound. Everything works as expected. I've never been this satisfied with a computer purchase before! I have no motivation to replace it at this time. In fact, I'll probably be getting a 2nd one soon, a refurb identical model.

Mine is pretty good, overall I am thrilled with it compared to my late 2007 MBP which had some BT issues and a few dead pixels.
I buy a new Pro laptop every 12-18 months (and usually some other stuff) so I might not be as picky as some.
My experience with Apple over nearly 20 years is that when you buy a rev A machine you might have some niggles to work through, that is the price for wanting to have the latest and greatest.

I have only had one bad Apple product over the years, an iMac G5 that I ordered on release day.
Had two logic board failures, but Apple still fixed it, even OUT of warranty.
Everything else from a Plus to this unibody have been basically fine. :)

Computers are tools, a means to an end.

Nearly perfect (possibly perfect). The screen fades in and out depending on the circumstances. I'm fairly sure it's a power problem and not limited to my book. For instance, when I was burning a DVD, the screen was fading in and out (very slightly, but noticeably if you stared at it). When the disc finished, it stopped.

Mine is perfect.

When I first got it I examined it closely to see if there were any scratches, crooked keys etc. I thought I saw a small dent/scratch at one side, but it's now there anymore. Must have been a thumb print or something.

I haven't actually met anyone with a new MBP or MB that have had any problems.
