"John,

All of us love launch days in our stores and look forward to the next one.

We’re working hard to get as many units out as possible.

Tim"

Might be a coined response, but doesn't look like it after a quick Google search.

Thanks for posting the reply. I've been in line for all but two of the iPhone launches and the original iPad. Generally in the first 20, with several first in line. The only times I have had them delivered was iPhone 5 which arrived at 8:30 pm. Was at the store at launch and they had stock through 10:00. This was the second home delivery and silly me tried to get the app to do in-store pickup for 6 minutes. Trusting what Apple says about launches - will cross that bridge later. At this point it's all spin.

Ok can anyone explain why the time stamp on my email says 07:04:22 when I ordered at 12:03 and received confirmation at 12:04? Customer service reps even confirmed after midnight order and I wouldn't have received the earliest window if it was actually 07:04.

Ordered 42mm SS BSB 4/10 3:02AM. Email confirmation came at 3:03AM.
No movement since. No charge at bank. Just checked before posting this.
I used Apple Pay. I am located in NJ.

Thanks for posting that reply.

It really makes a lot of sense - since they didn't have any way to know how orders would split between models by country, region, state, city, etc., they decided to work out of one single 'pool' of watches for the initial orders.

If they'd made a best-guess breakdown and sent that to each individual store, they would almost certainly have ended up hideous shortages of some models, and unsold stock of others, or people feeling like they had to buy whatever the store had, instead of what they actually wanted.

By shipping all the pre-orders, they get a TON of info about what people are buying where, and give everyone the highest chance to get the watch they actually wanted - the one they'll presumably be happiest with in the long run, even if it takes them a couple weeks to get it.

Now, if someone at Apple had only said this clearly:

"Due to the expected demand and wide variety of models, we're working hard to make sure that everyone gets their preferred model as soon as possible. There won't be a traditional Launch Day, instead we're rolling out batches of Watches over the first week or two. We really want you to have the Watch that will make you happiest in the long run, and we'll get it to you as soon as possible, but for most people that won't be the first day of the rollout."

My confirmation came at 12:05:34 and I am in the 4/24-5/8 window. No charge yet!

Item has now finally updated in UPS system, ordered at 12:03AM PST billed and prepped for ship yesterday night at 9:45PM CST

12:09:03 Pacific. I'm in the 5/13-27 group, though it said 4/24-5/8 when I hit 'buy'.

Worst part is that I didn't even really want the BSB - I wanted Milanese, but it was showing 5/13 availability, so I went for the one that was going to deliver first.

So insanely frustrated.

If it makes you feel any better, I did the same. When I couldn't get in-store to work I had the loop qued up on my iPad and hesitated again since I assumed there would be plenty if BSB's. Oooops.

Interesting. I was like a minute ahead of you, but I'm in the 4/24-5/8 group. I also wanted the Milanese, but opted for the BSB thinking it would be here the fastest.

Here are my details:
Confirmation email: 00:08:11
Location: Los Angeles
Payment: Gift card + MasterCard via Apple Store website

Still hoping to get it next week!

Congrats!

When did you see a charge if I may ask? I had it my AMEX this morning around 4AM EDT but I'm still processing. I'm thinking because it is Saturday and I'm hoping for Tuesday...

I had an early morning Amex charge as well that hit on Thursday morning. But it was only an auth charge - my order did not switch from processing and the charge disappeared this afternoon.

42 SS BSB - 3:03:25 am EDT confirmation on 4/10 - Georgia - Processing - Received EOD - No UPS tracking

My first order was confirmed at 12:03.45. No charge, no tracking, no movement. Eod.

I have two other orders both under +5mins for 42ssbsb.

Coincidentally ordered a charge cable late last night and it shipped this am

Sigh at this point i want to cry cuz it is the second day that i can just order a watch again and preorder isnt a privilege anymore. Still no charge!

1. This makes me glad I got SS
2. Not that jealous of those with the sport early
3. Mad at this idiot for doing this to his watch on purpose
