Got my 42SSBSB today. Picked it up at UPS, opened it in my car in the parking lot to find a few small scratches on the side. Drove directly to the Apple Store in Manchester, NH to be told "Stainless steel isn't scratch proof and is prone to scratching. I recommend you go buy a stainless cleaning cloth and try and buff it out. We're being told that small scratches may happen during packing and shipping" To which I replied "that would be excellent advice had I scratched it on my own, however this just came out of the box 10 minutes ago and hasn't even been set up." After hearing him spew the same BS lines and telling me there was nothing they could do about 5 more times I left quite flustered and my wife (who's much more calm and collected) called support and spoke with a senior costomer care employee named Jeremy who said that was ridiculous and he'd see what he could do.

Latest update is that they will replace it, but can't confirm when yet as they are in such demand.

So, if anyone gets one with scratches. My advice is to call them, not go to a store as I was rudely told many times they have nothing and can do nothing in the store. I think he was pissed I had one and he's prob waiting for his...

Anyway, picture attached.

Hope you all get ones in good condition!

Sorry to hear that. I'll buy it from you so you can just order a new one.:)

I feel for you man thats tough, but there really is a simple 5 minute fix thats going to be needed throughout the life of the watch. You could just take care of it that way instead of replacing the whole watch.

Not trying to take away from the fact that it was scratched, just trying to help you out down the road. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqb8LFt4MI0

good eyes and very high definition photo! shot by iphone6? :)
that reminds me that my Sapphire Camera lens got cracked like i didnt even have any idea when did it happen and my whole phone had no single scratch.
Did the same thing went to store and they said cannot fix it and told me to buy a brand new phone.
I said how can that be sapphire camera lens got broken that easily.
I immediately called the support and get it replaced as well.

Thanks and we will all super careful on our watches ;)

I'm aware of this. And if "I" scratch it myself in the future I'll take care of it. But for $600 out of the box, it's on them to correct it. I've gone through this before with the iPhone 5... Luck of the Irish...

My order has been "preparing to ship" since early this morning, any idea on how long before it switches to "shipped" usually?

But typically don't they charge when they land in Alaska?

It's really hard to say. At first, it seemed like they were getting charged in Anchorage. But today and yesterday it seemed like they were in Louisville. It's hard to tell, unless they changed when they process them.

iPhone 6 Plus camera. Tough to focus close enough to really show the scratches. Hoped it was dust when I first saw it.

Oh well, first world problems...

Seriously though, if you wanna sell it and take mine when it arrives, let me know. I'm guessing an exchange will take awhile...

That'll buff out. I'd try that first. You'll be buffing that watch throughout it's lifetime anyway.

Los Angeles here. Still processing for me and no cc charges yet.

SS BSB
Order confirmation 12:04:58 AM PDT

I am not losing my mind. I am not losing my mind. I am not losing my mind.

If they plan to charge in Anchorage it'll happen in the next half hour. That seems to be about the time it happened.

If not til Louisville, then probably not until midnight tonight, with people waking up to charges like they did today.

For what it's worth.. i raised hell at apple support for 4 phone calls over the weekend.. fri-sun. haha maybe that got them thinking. sheesh sometimes people need motivation.

ITS HAPPENING!!!!! I got charged!!!!!
