Mines on the way estimated 24-25th November.

I ordered same spec as OP.

Also hade to order a monitor :p but that won’t be from Apple but an Asus ProArt PA27AC.

Soon my late 2013 27” iMac will be retired.

Have an LG Monitor, but I ordered the mini. estimate 11/24-11/27.

Left the RAM at 8GB because this isn't my primary machine but got the 1TB SSD.

This won't be my primary machine either, well, depends it could be, we will see what it is capable of once it arrives. I don't need high-end performance for what I do but it will be a companion to my PC.

Right. I sold my MacBook Pro because I didn't need it. I use my iPad Pro extensively at this point in place of a laptop

I ordered the high end model, but with 16 GB of memory and 512 GB of SSD storage, which will go in my home office so I don't have to unplug my Macbook Pro when I work in my office and also do telework. Also, need the 16 GB of memory so I can do iOS/macOS App Development with the ability to remote into it from my Macbook Pro when I am not at home. But I plan to add 10 Gigabit Ethernet via Thunderbolt 3 in the future.

Virtualization is not a big deal since I moved all my virtualization needs to my two VMWare ESXi servers with VCenter installed and VMWare Horizon to access my virtualized gaming PC, which has a Geforce GTX 980 Ti passthrough. So, the Mac mini is basically being used for productivity and app development. I used my Federal Government Employee discount since I work for the Feds, which help bring down the price. But essentially, this was the money I am using for not buying a Mac Pro after they announced their transition. Still, I am quite curious how it performs once I receive it.

I will be interested to see how long it takes 3rd party software to re program for the new ARM architecture. As soon as Bricsys or Greibert (CAD software) offer an ARM compatible software update I will certainly be happy to give one a try.

Ordered the "old" 2018/2020 model with 64GB RAM and 2TB 2 weeks ago, fully anticipating the new ARM model coming soon. Glad I did. Still 32-bit compatible with Mojave, do not need to buy all my apps new again, can run VM and any developer environments as I wish. RAM galore. 4 TB 3 ports. And it remains to be seen how fast Rosetta 2 effectively will be when running Intel apps. But for the average home user this will be a nice machine if software compatibility is no concern!

I was waiting for the ARM mini to replace my iMac for music production but I’m not convinced to do the jump. I think that I will wait to see some benchmarks next week to decide. It will be way better than my 12yo mac anyways... but if the performance is not good I will wait for them to add the M2 option, I want this machine to last.

I am excited to see your guys bench marks and experience. With 4X GPU on Shadow of the Tombraider you wont need a eGPU. I’d expect it to Geekbench Compute close to 25,000 to 30,000. This would be great. My Vega 56 on my i7 32GB Ram just breaks 50,000. But I would not of gotten one if stock performance is what you guys will get.

I still have a good few years out of my 2018, I will probably change over when M3 hits 😂

Awaiting reviews, benchmarks. Really interested in the power consumption numbers, especially with the MacBook Air going fanless (from fans with a 9-10W Intel CPU)..

Well, I need to replace my late 2011 13" MBP and was planning on going for a Mac Mini. Very excited that they chose to to put a new M1 chip in the Mini... but now i'm wondering if I want to go for 'base performance' when they'll bring out higher spec M chips in 2021. Curious to see what the Benchmarks are like, but I don't think I can hold off for another 5-6 months minimum before they'll probably release a higher spec Mini. I don't normally buy 1st generation models of devices, but after 9 years I need a new computer! Maybe i'll go for 16GB um and 1TB SSD which will tie me over for 4-5 years and then i'll be looking at 2nd or 3rd gen M chips with new enclosure designs (although i'm happy with the current looks).

Think i'm just kidding myself to wait and i'll just buy! Just second guessing myself...

To be fair though, it will be easier to sell a Mac Mini with an M1 in a couple of years should you need to upgrade than it will be for all the people with intel Mac Minis. Once AS is embedded the market will be awash with Apple devices with intel chips nobody but the minority wants.

Also, consider there will be a market in years to come for the 'vintage' devices with the 1st ever ARM chip Apple offered :)

I am on the verge of ordering one to replace my late 2013 27” iMac. I don’t need anything fancy as I mostly just do basic tasks. But my main concerns are...

-will it support dual 32” 4K monitors one via the HDMI port and the other using a usb-c to hdmi adapter?

-will it run Final Cut Pro x? Occasionally I’ll edit a short 1080p video.

  • One display with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz connected via Thunderbolt and one display with up to 4K resolution at 60Hz connected via HDMI 2.0
Will be fine for your setup.

will it run Final Cut Pro x? Occasionally I’ll edit a short 1080p video.

Well, that is Apple software, it will work very well, they showcased it on the event stating it runs better than ever. I believe that claim as they will have optimized their own software to run great.

Thanks LeeW! Good points you've raised there. I too would prefer a Space Grey (maybe they will reserve that for a higher spec model in the future), but c'est la vie - i'm probably going to hide it behind a monitor anyways! I'll probably want to get Final Cut Pro X, but won't be doing anything super-strenuous in it, so i'd imagine it will run superbly for my requirements!
