What do you guys think would be the real world difference between cameras on the pro & Pro Max?

OP like you I’ve made a reservation for the 12 Pro on iUP but I’m thinking about getting the Max. I guess I’d also like to know if I would see a noticeable difference in photos.

The other thing I’m mindful of is starting the iUP in November for a Max means that I would potentially have to 2 months worth of payments to get to 11 monthly payments in order to upgrade to next years iPhone. That’s assuming they go back to a September release schedule.
I wish I had eyes like you all

I can't tell the difference in iPhone photos from my 4s to my 8 or any of the ones from the 11 on websites

Or just return it. Start the return on the 14th day and you will have another 14 days or so to ship it back. By then you should have both for a few days to compare.
So I’ve not heard of this. Read it three times in the thread now, but seriously, if you start a return on the 14th day, that gives you another 14 days to return? If so, do you know where on Apple it says this? I would love to know this for sure so I could feel less pressure to decide in less time.

Yeah, I am in this boat. Can’t decide yet on Pro vs Pro Max or Pacific Blue vs Silver.

It’s really hard to make this decision when there’s ZERO hands-on videos or actual photographs (i.e. Not renders) of all four Pro finishes available. It’s all just renders... And same goes for the differences in UI size, camera quality, etc.

If I miss the Max size on the regular Pro, or if the battery life isn’t very good then I will return it and order a Max when available.

I ruled out Pro max.

I dont want a phone marginally bigger than 11 Pro Max. I want a phone marginally smaller than 11 non-pro

coupled with $700 off instead of $800, 3 weeks later preorder (not the end of the world but impatient but impatient coupled with thinking its a better route to go) and $100 extra list price, its double what I'd be paying for my 12 Pro over 30 months.

Still a bit apprehensive vs a 12 mini, I found 6.1" a bit much at times but it will be a nice switch up from my Se 2020 and should be sleeker than my XR was... but I want the brighter screen, 6gb ram, 3rd camera, and I really like the Pacific Blue personally. And I have an SE 2020 and I want a phone with really good battery life, the mini seems up in the air in that regard. I'd be afraid of getting fatigue from the 12 non-pro blue.

You need iphone 12 pro pacific blue. ;)

Struggling here too. A couple of days ago, I said I was getting the regular 12. Close enough specs wise and I like the bold color options.

This morning I was set on getting the Pro Max. I have the XS Max now and like the screen size. Plus the Pro Max is the top of the line.

However, I just placed an order for the Pro. I like going down in weight and maybe the size is more manageable for one handed use. It has most of the features of the Pro Max, but is a step up from the regular. Price difference isn’t as much because I need the 128 GB storage.

Honestly still on the fence though and may change my mind.

I have the 11PM and while the battery life is amazing and the screen size is good for YouTube and other media, the weight bothers me. My hand feels stained using the phone one handed and I can’t take photos without moving around if I don’t use both hands.

So I’ve opted for the 12 Pro this year. Really want to see if the reduction in screen size is significant.

I doubt I’ll notice any difference in camera quality between the 12PM. I mostly just use the phone to take pics of my dogs lol

If the smaller size doesn’t suit, I’ll just return it and order the 12PM. Pretty confident I’ll be happy with the lighter and manageable 12P.

Can’t find anywhere that states you have 14 days ”after” you request a return either. Not saying it can’t be done but I sure would hate to own two iPhones when I could have just waited a few weeks to see them in person.

The part that states “within” would make me think otherwise. https://www.apple.com/shop/help/returns_refund

For any undamaged product, simply return it with its included accessories and packaging along with the original receipt (or gift receipt) within 14 days of the date you receive the product, and we’ll exchange it or offer a refund based upon the original payment method. In addition, please note the following:

As someone else mentioned I would have really liked to have had some hands on reviews of the iPhones to see the camera differences, size, etc of the 12P VS 12PM

Yeah, it’s not officially documented anywhere because they probably don’t want you to know, but it’s true. If you bought an item online you have to initiate the return within 14 days of receiving the item. They give you a generous number of days after it’s initiated to actually complete the process of the return by sending it in or bringing it into a store. I don’t remember the exact number but if it was an additional 14 it wouldn’t surprise me.

I was debating between the two. I think I'd enjoyed the smaller form factor of the Pro, but was wondering if I'd miss the better camera of the max. When I reviewed all the photos I've taken in the past year I didn't see many that I would have liked to have better night mode or higher zoom for, so decided to stick with the Pro.

What I realised is 12Pro is getting smaller body compared to last year pro and still have all the features or may be more. Yeah 12 P max will be with bells and whistles but I love the feeling of holding compact device with high functionality. That really seems intuitive.

I'm in the same boat, I would prefer everything about the 12 Pro, but really want the very best camera since we recently sold our DSLR. Hopefully reviews of the Max will be out next week (along with the 12 Pro release) so we can get a good idea of how much of a difference the larger sensor and sensor-shift technology make in the Max.

I just returned an Apple Watch this way. In the Apple Store app, go to the original order and there should be a link to initiate a return. It then allows you to generate a FedEx return label and gives the date it needs to be returned by (I believe it was an additional 14 days).

Bought a 12 Pro 128gb for wifey this morning. Buying the 12 Pro Max for certain...but still unsure of 128gb or 256gb, and which color. Guess I have some time to think.

You have 14 days to start the return process so if you start the return on the last day they usually give you 14 days to send it back but mileage may vary. The length could change any time and it may be different based on product. I did return something non apple in April and they gave me 14 days and I filed it on the 14 th day. Don’t count on this though and miss your return window.

I would return it to the store but if they give u 14 days to return u should be fine then. Because if usually gives u a last date to scan.

Okay, that's how I understood it, too. Hmm. Having extra time is not an option I would like to take -- for the sake of Apple, anyone else ordering, and me -- but knowing that it's a possibility is intriguing.

Thank you for detailing the how--I appreciate that. :)
