iPhone 12 Pro Who ordered the 12 Pro and still might get the 12 Pro Max?

So I’ve not heard of this. Read it three times in the thread now, but seriously, if you start a return on the 14th day, that gives you another 14 days to return? If so, do you know where on Apple it says this? I would love to know this for sure so I could feel less pressure to decide in less time.
If you order something on apple.com, and you go to the order status of your order, you will be given the option to start the return process as there is a link. YOu hit that it it will tell you when you have till to click on that button. Once you click on that return button then it tells you have you have 14 days to return it.

So example, say you purchased the 12 Pro. You have 14 days from the day you receive it. So if you receive it on 10/23/2020, then you have till 11/6/2020 to hit that return button. Once you hit the return button, it will give you the new date that the apple store needs to receive it by. So really You would have till 11/20/2020 for the apple warehouse to receive your item and process. I would be more safe to do it on 11/5/2020 just to be safe and you will have till 11/19/2020.

I did this with my watch on Day 14. Started the return process and got the label , and just sent it back. However, it took longer than expected for them to actually process my return so I would play it safe and just ship it as soon as you are able. I'm sure they will get high volumes. Mine took the entire week after it has been delivered for them to process the returns.

Thank you for sharing your experience: it's reassuring. Happy it worked well for you.

I was thinking about downsizing from XS Max but couldn't make up my mind so I ordered a 12 Pro to play with until the Max is available. I'm so indecisive lol

I did the same thing too. I got to preorder this morning and ill use it for a couple of weeks, I'll be getting the Max too

I’m annoyed the cameras aren't the same, but I absolutely don't want a pro max size. I always thought my 11 pro was a tad small, so the 6.1 might be the perfect size. It annoyed me that it was smaller than the 11 last year.

Yeah, it’s not officially documented anywhere because they probably don’t want you to know, but it’s true. If you bought an item online you have to initiate the return within 14 days of receiving the item. They give you a generous number of days after it’s initiated to actually complete the process of the return by sending it in or bringing it into a store. I don’t remember the exact number but if it was an additional 14 it wouldn’t surprise me.

I recently had 10 days to actually mail back my old AirPods, after receiving the new ones. This was a warranty repair though.

For me the issue has never been the size of the screen, but the weight of the phone. The 12 Pro Max weighs 226 grams without a case — that's a lot! I'm currently using a OnePlus 5T which weighs 162 grams, so I went for the 12 Pro. My biggest concern is battery life. If I can get 7 hours of screen on time in a full 24-hour day, I'll be more than happy.

What about the restocking fee is anyone not concerned about that?

I have never been hit with a restocking fee. I think that stopped back in 2011.

Same here. But when I look at the camera differences, I'm not sure I'd even notice in practice. Sensor-shift shmensor-shmift.

I've had the Max since the XS and had been debating going smaller this time around. When they made the Max bigger and heavier this year, and delayed the launch, I decided it was as good a time as ever to try the smaller one.

I personally don't think the differences in the cameras are going to make a big difference for most people. Honestly, my iPhone 11 Pro Max takes spectacular photos, and I can't imagine needing anything better. My only reason for possibly still going with the Max would be if the screen just ends up being too small to get used to. But I'm pretty confident I'm going to stay with the iPhone 12 Pro. Personally I thought the XR was the perfect size phone, and now that the screen on the Pro is the same at 6.1", I think it will be perfect for me.
Agree that the difference will likely not be that big a deal in practice. Apple was all about quoting “87% more light”, but that’s less than a stop faster. Nice but not groundbreaking. It’s still not a DSLR, so...🤷‍♂️

and the sensor based OIS is nice, but again, lens based or sensor based - it’s still a phone camera with a sensor smaller than your pinky nail.

I don’t doubt the max will be better. But it’s not going to be light years ahead of the regular pro.
