I am growing jaded by the hour from seeing people criticise anything and everything to do with the new MBPs with TB. Can people please share their positive experiences too in order to provide a more balanced view for the people awaiting the delivery of orders (some of whom got cold feet and cancelled) or the undecided? If someone came into this forum they'd think Apple had sold us a chocolate teapot!

Don't give into the negativity, there are plenty of people who are happy, they just aren't as vocal as the crowd of unsatisfied folks. You can always make a purchase and return it if you're not satisfied.

I love my new MBP, I'm coming from a 2008 model so it's been a huge improvement.

Link to thread of people sharing mostly positive opinions about the new MBP.

Thanks but I'm certainly not giving in at all. I know there are positive experiences dotted around the forum, but this thread is for those willing to share why they are thrilled with their purchase. Let's hear it!

I have the non-TB base model and I love it. I am able to type very quickly on the new keyboard and love the tactile response. The screen is beautiful and the new trackpad works great for gestures. The processor is perfect for the tasks that I typically do and the speakers sound great. I also have a 12" rMB for travel and I am replacing an old MBA with this new MBP...it is a great computer.

I love the 13 in TB version I have. The battery life is still in question, but I think I got that ironed out. Overall I love this little machine and the touchbar is growing on me as I get more familiar with how it works.

I tend to really research things very well, and I am very discerning, so coming from me this is a big endorsement. This is a great laptop overall. Granted I've only been using it for about a week, so take it for FWIW.

13" TB MBP. I love it and for me a true upgrade to my 2012 rMBP. I have/had the rMB since that launched and while it is/was a great machine it was never a true replacement to my old MBP.

This thing on the other hand matches or surpasses all my expectations for a $2k laptop.

I do, but I upgraded from 2010 hardware so that may be part of the reason I'm so ecstatic about it. I'm coming from a 2010 13" MacBook and 2010 custom build desktop.

I have a 13" touchbar version. Apologies for any unclear thoughts/sentences I'm trying to capture my opinions quickly here:

- Touchbar is more useful than I thought and works great. Love using it to quickly lock my computer, adjust volume and unlock with touch Id, etc.

- This thing runs extremely cold. I haven't checked the temperature but I don't even feel any heat at all on the aluminum frame during 95% of my day doing software development work with a second external display connected. My 2010 MacBook pro was ALWAYS hot to the touch and when I ran an external monitor it was scary hot.

- Damn this thing is fast, probably the SSD responsible here. Boots in about 10 seconds, installing software leaves me confused as to if the install actually succeeded or not because it is too fast to believe.

- Screen is simply amazing but we all know this.

- Happy with battery life, 8 hours of software development work on battery for me at 70% brightness

- Keyboard: I was scared because I couldn't type on the 12" MacBook keyboard when I tried it in store. This is much improved though, I could tell the moment I got it that once I used it for a couple days I was gonna love it. Couple days in and this is the fastest keyboard I've used.

- Trackpad: Loving the size and I've realized the force trackpad is a huge improvement over the old one, especially when it comes to drag operations. You can even reduce the pressure as you drag and it still registers a drag event. The old trackpads I had to press them hard and often I would accidentaly release too soon as I dragged around, just felt a bit awkward.

- Built quality and finish: super happy.

Well I first had purchased a base 13 with TB. When I opened up Lightroom and about 3 tabs in Chrome, my memory (7gb of RAM out of 8gb was in use) was under pressure. Activity manager showed periods of Yellow, and the swaps were quickly in the GBs. It just wasn't enough computer for me, and I can't justify the price tag.

Now, I am using the 15" base 2016 MPB, and am in love. I have the same chrome tabs open, and Lightroom. 11GB is being used, memory pressure is all green, and swaps are in the MBs as we speak. This is a much better setup for my needs.

Bottom line, do whats best for you, and don't listen to people's feedback until you try it out. Ask yourself what you will be using your computer for, and spec it out as you need.

These new MBPs are amazing. Love mine. They took all the aspects of the human interaction to new highs. The Display is Beautiful and bright. The new sound system is loud and defined. It really jams. The Touchbar adds a unique new way to interact that would benefit even a touchscreen computer. I really like it. The bar is very customizable and changes in dynamic and useful ways all on its own.

Feels beamed back from the future IMO

I have a 2015 retina MacBook pro and the 2016 is amazing..love the track pad..love the new color..love the touch bar..the display is soo bright..for me it was a perfect modernezation of a perfect laptop

13" non touchbar, very happy. The USB-C ports and lack of legacy ports are minor annoyances. The battery, fast SSD, great tactile feel for the keyboard, slimness, and screen made it for me, and I'm coming from a 2015 13" MBP.

So your finding performance on the nontouchbar to be significantly better than your old 2015 MBP?

I have a 13" touchbar and I love it. I just discovered how awesome the speakers sound! It's a really nice machine. Nothing with Windoze comes close to this level of hardware quality.

They rock on the 15" as well. Loud as hell and sound great

Yeah, don't get into the negativity. The new MacBooks are literally, one of the best they have made. Aside from battery issues, which I'm sure we'll overcome, everything else is spot on, the touch bar, is a gimmick, but if battery life can save itself with updates, SMC resets, then it's a neat gimmick to have. The track pad is huge, I like it, and the new Iris Pro 550 is the bomb on the 13's, it's a solid chip. all of that coupled with the actual footprint of the device, and you have a serious ultra portable competitive machine here, the fact is runs OS X is just icing on the cake imo.

I do. It's a wonderful machine and the best computer I've ever owned (my first laptop was the iBook G3—I've been using these things for a little while now).

Thank you for starting this thread! It's great reading positive posts for a change. Admittedly, I got jaded by all of the constant negativity that took place and I eventually cancelled my order. Then after reading some positive reviews earlier this week, I placed a new order. I would have been a Day 1 delivery, now I get to wait until the end of December instead. Big lesson learned there.

It's fun reading thoughts from those that are enjoying their new MBPs. Keep em' coming!

This MBP is outstanding you will love it. TB is a lot of fun and ultra modern, very cutting edge. Everything that matters is very much improved. Haters can hate they are the ones missing out.

BTW if you are buying a default config low, high or max. Just buy it in-store and have it tomorrow.
