Called At&t and

ya, I called in again to try (2nd time). I was still polite but this time I did mentioned others are getting $250 credits and again that I've been a customer since the beginning of time. She didn't budge and said she didn't know anything about the credits or any other way to get a subsidized price.

I honestly believe those of us that are getting denied a few times over probably have some kind of mark on our accounts that let the customer service reps know that they cannot be flexible with the credits or any other method to push up our upgrade cycle. I don't know what it would be based on though.

Has anyone here called multiple times and eventually been able to get a full subsidy either through a credit or some other means? If so how many times did it take?

I got a full upgrade even though my phone wasn't eligible until next August. :)

Im glad I got in on the first wave of calls seems they aren't doing it much anymore, didn't get the full $200 credit but they offered up $100 credit so I said I'll take it. I also asked if its possible for them to waive the upgrade fee since im on the same line and been with them since 07 they obliged.

So all in all I got $136 in credit posted to my account...not bad since I was going to buy regardless.:)

I think they have different upgrade dates in the retenention dept. by the way.
They gave me the upgrade and told me they'd call me at 6:05 AM and never did. So I had to order at 4 PM.
I mean, at least I'll get the phone in October instead of April.
Thankful.

This is the message I got when I emailed. I'll call when I get back to the states.

Thank you for contacting AT&T about your wireless service. I will be
more than happy to assist you with your inquiry regarding the early
upgrade pricing.

At the present time we have no policy to substantiate crediting $250.00
as a reimbursement of the price difference between a standard and early
iPhone 5 upgrade.

If you have any additional questions about this issue, please respond to
this email. *Thank you for choosing AT&T; we appreciate your business.

Sincerely,

Edna S.

They called me and offered to waive my 250$ early upgrade fee. How and why? No idea. I called about 15 times asking why i had to pay an upgrade with a phone I got oct 5, 2010.

Talked to them on chat an was able to receive the $250 credit. Basically asked them about any fees I'd need to pay up front before I upgraded and acted surprised when they mentioned the $250 early upgrade charge, then asked if there was any way for them to give me some sort of credit to cover that charge. Supervisor approved and the deal is done.

I didn't preorder with them right away since its already so late in the game, but for those of you who got this credit, do you know if I'd have to purchase it from AT&T directly or can I still purchase it from any of the other retailers? Thanks.

The woman behind me in line today at the Apple store in Raleigh thought she had a full upgrade, but wound up she didn't. She called AT&T and was given an early upgrade, but the catch was she had to buy via AT&T and they would ship it to her... in 2 to 3 weeks :(

Not ideal, but at least she was able to save $250... suck she got up early to get in line tho.

I called AT&T on the way to the apple store to buy a Verizon iPhone 5 today. I told them I had called many times and no one would help me get an early upgrade.

This time I called the retention department to cancel. My wifes phone is eligible dec 8th so I was just asking for a three month early upgrade. I told the gal that I was switching to verizon but would give them one last opportunity to retain the $150 I pay them if they could help me get an early upgrade. I told her I was even willing to add another line and buy two phones today if she could help.

I have the 700 min family plan with unlimited messaging for 30 a month and unlimited data. She said she couldn't give me an early upgrade but could give me free messaging for 6 months or change my my texting plan from $30 to $20 a month.

So I had her do the $20 unlimited texting plan saving 10 month and added a third line for $9.99 a month. I also added a second extra line for me.

I couldn't get them to waive the $250 but this was the next best thing.
