Yes, I went for a run this morning and couldn’t believe how nice the screen looks In the sun. It almost looks like a sticker on top of the glass.

And Apple lied about the battery life. It’s significantly better than the Ultra 1. I usually lose about 12 - 15 points for a 1 hour run. This morning I only lost 8 points. I was blown away.

Also, I had to use maps while running. It gets maps WAY faster than my Ultra 1. And onboard Siri is a dream. Big thumbs up for the Ultra 2 from me.

And yes, I’ve been a huge Ultra detractor in the past.

I upgraded and barely notice any difference between the Ultra 1 and 2. The 2 doesn’t feel faster or smoother and I expected it would, the screen seems just as bright too which was a surprise.

The only thing I noticed is that the battery seems better. I have a feeling thats an iOS17 bug though, because on iOS16 I had great battery life on my Ultra 1. It’s been pretty bad since I upgraded to the iOS17 (stsrted in August with the betas.)

I wasn’t planning to but a friend wanted my watch so I transferred my old one to his account and purchased the new one in store last night. I haven’t noticed any huge difference so far. The new Alpine band is nice though. It’s thicker and softer than the one that came with my old Ultra. I’ve weirdly had two people say it looks smaller than the Ultra 1. I’m pretty sure there isn’t any difference in dimensions but now I’m going to have to compare it with an Ultra 1.

I did. I can see a little bit more speed on the system. screen is brighter, battery is way better At least for me. Worth it? Probably not but I’m an Apple Watch fan so it’s all good.

If you use complications a lot the speed improvement are huge. Like when I hit one of my stock price complications it gets the price like 75% faster than my Ultra 1. For some reason the Ultra 1 was real laggy. Same with Crypto Pro. When I hit my BTC complication, the real price comes up so fast. With the Ultra 1 the OLD price would come up and you’d have to wait like 5-10 seconds for it to update.

Show me someone who doesn’t notice the speed improvements of the Ultra 2 and I’ll show you a couch potato who only uses their Ultra as a dumb watch or read notifications.

I don’t notice the speed improvements and typically workout for 90+ minutes a day. I upgraded, but probably one of the worst Apple year over year upgrades ever (except the series 7-9) lol.

When I workout I’m using Siri for:

1. Composing and sending messages
2. Adding reminders
3. Fast forwarding/rewinding podcasts
4. Adding new songs to my playlists
5. Voice memos

What are you using your Ultra for during your 90 minutes workouts?

Ok, so you basically DON’T actively use your Apple Watch while you workout? NO WONDER YOU DON’T SEE ANY DIFFERENCE

That’s like buying a Corvette Stingray and never taking it to the track and saying “It doesn’t seem any faster to me”.
WHY does one have to use the AW during workout? Other than recording the workout?

Looks your trying too hard to justify your purchase man.

75% Better or immediately vs 7-10 seconds. If that’s true something was seriously wrong with your ultra 1, even Apple quoted 30% improvement, not 500%

Even most reviewers and everyone says the difference is negligible

Looks like you’re trying too hard to justify staying with the old watch. And most reviewers aren’t heavy watch users. Plus, they bend over backwards to help people not feel bad about not upgrading.

Different apps respond differently to different improvements. It used to drive me crazy how Apple podcasters would say “I never felt the current watch was slow”. I’m thinking have you EVER pulled up a map and tried to get your current location? Have you ever asked Siri to fast forward through a podcast commercial. These everyday tasks are much faster now.

Want that magical watch with 700% speed improvements. Like I said if you were waiting so long on the ultra, probably that configuration was corrupted or something even my old S5 doesn’t take more of a couple of sessions to do anything.

I had the Ultra 1 and I hated it.

Quit sticking your head in the sand. The sum total of what you’re saying is basically “I don’t believe the speed improvements are significant” . I have both, and the Ultra 2 is more than 30% faster in many areas. There are more bottlenecks than CPU speed which have been fixed.

I traded in my Ultra for a 2 today. Why? Pretty good trade in price for the Ultra.

First big chip change in quite some time, so I think the Ultra 2 will be future proofed a little bit longer.

If I keep the new watch for 2 years, after trade in, it's only costing about .57 cents a day to use. Pretty cheap in my book for something I use every day.

And hey... I was going to buy a new strap. With the trade in and saved strap cost, getting a new one was really only about $300.

Bottom line...I kinda just felt like it. :)
