So, anyone that updated to UW1 to UW2 noticed the difference in brightness? Happy that you did the upgrade. Think I will upgrade too, since the UW1 trade in value at Apple is decent. Thanks!
Yeah even in general indoor use

Does everyone run the beta on the watch? Thinking about so can get the double tap quicker.

Yeah, I also feel like it’s brighter indoors even though it’s not necessarily supposed to be. Especially if you’re sitting by a window in the daytime or just a bright light.

Because of this I expected battery life to be worse than the Ultra 1. But the opposite has been my experience thus far.

Ok, so you basically DON’T actively use your Apple Watch while you workout? NO WONDER YOU DON’T SEE ANY DIFFERENCE

That’s like buying a Corvette Stingray and never taking it to the track and saying “It doesn’t seem any faster to me”.
The idea that not using Siri means you're basically not using your watch is unhinged.

You miss the point. Saying “there’s no difference” when you ignore advanced features is unhinged.
If they choose not to use Siri and don't notice any difference in responsiveness in the things they do, it's a completely fair response. There's no rule saying you have to use at least X% of the features of your device before you're allowed to comment on how it feels to you.

There are also completely practical reasons to not use Siri. For example, I have a stutter and Siri today is worse at following my speech than Google Assistant was back in 2016. And even when it does understand me, I sometimes get responses like "Sorry, you don't have the Timer app installed" when trying to set a simple timer.

Why would I bother to keep running up against this wall when I could just do the thing myself and be done in a fraction of the time? Advanced features are not always good features.

And there’s no rule that car magazines have to take a new Corvette or BMW M3 to the track. Yeah, they can use it to take kids to daycare or buy groceries. BUT THEN THEY HAVE NO BUSINESS COMMENTING ON THE PERFORMANCE.

No, you don’t have to use any of the advanced features of the new Apple Watch. But then you have limited experience to comment.

MacRumors is always full of people who didn’t upgrade and who love nothing better than to shout from the rooftops how the new devices don’t appeal to them. Fine, start your own threads

The new watches only just came out, everyone has limited experience.

This YouTuber says I WAS FOOLED because everyone said the S9 chip was no big deal. Then he found out that it is significantly faster in certain situations, especially Siri.

He still didn’t do a very good comparison. It was a rudimentary comparison. I should make a YouTube video myself.

Besides the S9 SiP, the neural processor is also much much faster which may play a part. Some functions are now bypassing the SiP and getting triggered by the neural processor.

Oh get real. Lots of people can multi-task. Saying that you shouldn’t sounds like a weak cop out argumen

You should make a YouTube video. Call it Siri

Okay? I didn't tell you to go listen to a mixed bag of random Youtubers. Find sources you trust and listen to what they say. Or don't, I don't really care. My point was simply that saying that someone isn't really using their watch just because they don't use Siri is a bad take.

For the record, I'm not even saying the new chips aren't a big improvement. I think they clearly are, even if we don't have things to take advantage of all that power just yet. But whether someone uses Siri or not shouldn't be the measure of whether their opinion is valid or relevant.

I woke up this morning and had to input my pass code. All my complications were gone. I tried to re add them but wouldn't work. Had to restart the watch. Not sure what that was about.

Ok, so tell me what how you use your watch. I’ve already listed what I do. Lets see if you’re another person who basically does nothing with their watch and doesn’t notice any speed improvements.

But if you have both the Series 8 and 9 do this one test. Open maps in each when away from your iPhone and click your current location. The Series 9 will find it about 90% faster.

It’s only been a day since the new watches were launched. There will be a lot more observations coming.

I run ballistic calculators, topo maps and some other GPS related stuff, plus use it as a standalone phone/email/driving nav device, never noticed a speed issue with my ultra 1

All the issue have been software crippling from Apple, they seem to really not want people to be able to use it instead of a iPhone

That cat just wants to bully people into arguments and justification for the purchase. Pay no mind to him. That being said. I did not upgrade from the 1 to 2.

Who would use an $800 watch to work out? I buy Apple products because they are Apple products been doing so since powerbook g4. I use my watch to tell time and my phone to make calls!

I upgrade every year. Love the new SiP on the AWU2 and the brighter up to 3,000 nits display is gorgeous. It’s a bit of an incremental update, but for me it’s definitely noticeable and totally worth it.
My thought is, if you can financially afford it, why not? I agree that even an incremental update will be worth it as I think the battery life will be better and I’m really looking forward to the pinch operation. :)

I just sold my AWU 1 for $460 on Craigslist this morning…quick sale. I purchased the AWU2 on Amazon last week for $779 and had a $40 visa credit on Amazon points. The new watch only cost $740 plus tax!

Nice job! I sold my AWU1 for $768 and bought the successor for $951 (tax included). Pretty nice deal eh? ✌️
