in my opinion when the pull out ipad 2 it will be such a crazy upgrade people will be kicking themselves because they have to sell their original ipad to buy it

You are ASSuming that that is not the plan us iPad owners had in mind when we bought our iPads. I'm not going to be kicking myself. I'm going to enjoy my iPad as I am doing right now, and when the time comes next year I will happily, as planned, sell my iPad in preparation for the iPad 2. No hand wringing required.

honestly, i dont believe the ipad is really up to par yet

im sure it will have a camera for facetime, and a lot of features to make it seem like it is worthy of replacing a laptop or something

still, i dont see myself ever getting one, ive bought ipods and iphones, the ipad seems like a large ipod touch and it seems like a waste to have an ipad and an iphone

I'm with you, for the most part. I'm sure I'll end up buying the iPad 2.

I just got a 32 gig iPad the other day and am preordering an iPhone 4 tomorrow. I think the iPad is great at home to browse the internet on when you're in front of the tv or something and don't feel like getting up to use or lugging around a laptop. The larger screen makes browsing the web better than the iPhone. I really only use the iPhone now when I'm out somewhere. It's so nice to not have to pinch and zoom and drag around a webpage on a 3.5 inch screen. I use my laptop when I have to do some work, but the iPad fits the bill when I'm casually browsing and that is about 95% of the time.

I'm sure the second generation is going to add lots of things, but I'll just sell this one. I think the iPad seems like crap on paper honestly, but once you bring it home and start using it you don't miss the missing features at all at least I don't. Instead you can't stop using it lol.

Me. 32gb iPhone 4 and 32gb iPad 3G

...on a side note, people who seem to be talking down the iPad either:
a) Haven't used one
or
b) Don't have the imagination to see where it fits. It is NOT a laptop replacement, it is NOT a phone replacement. When you understand that, you're on your way to becoming converted :)

Lost count of the number of iPad demonstrations I've had to give... to some serious :apple: haters and skeptics. I've won over almost all of them.

Just wondering who, come June 24th, will be owners of both an iPad and an iPhone 4, representing the best that Apple has to offer!!! :D :)

iPad for consumption while commuting to work: Intnernet, Movies, Books, News reader
iPhone for communication: Phone, Email, Text. Portable internet when out on the town, emergency gps

Please stop making threads. They are all pointless and 75% of them end up in the wasteland.

Why are you reading pointless threads that end up in the wasteland?

I'll have the trifecta. The newest i7 Powerbook, iPad, i4 Phone

I also will have the trifecta:) I have iPad, MacBook (not newest, sadly), and I'll be getting iPhone 4 shortly after launch!
Thanks to iPad, I'm currently looking for one of the older cinema displays, cause with iPad and iPhone all of my mobile needs will be covered:)

Very well said, and I agree. I'll have both as well - still waiting on my delivery for the iPad this week actually. But yea I too will enjoy it and plan on selling it later for the next one. Just as I'm selling my 3GS after I pickup iPhone 4.

I forgot the other great reason for owning both. I'll have a device to use while my daughter (2 years old) is enjoying the other. In fact, she's playing on my 3GS right now while I type this on my iPad.

When we are traveling, the iPad will be her DVD player and I'll still have the iPhone 4. Of course, She will be supervised or the iPad placed out of her reach!

I have two iPads and will have two iPhone 4's. Well one for the wife and myself, to go along with my iMac and macbook :)

No technology is "up to par"

Everything you own is obsolete. Even the i4 Phone we will be pre-ordering tomorrow is obsolete as they are already working on the newest model.

So, by that logic we should never purchase any of it :D

Next year it might get a front-facing camera - MIGHT. I don't really see the need for it, especially not when I will have the Iphone 4 with one. Other than that? New features? Like what? Nothing really to add, and certainly nothing significant that will come a mere year after the first one. Look at least to what comes out in 2012, or maybe even 2013 for significant new features.

I've got a 16gb Ipad. I love it. I use it ALL the time. I still will after I get my Iphone 4. I have a Macbook Pro. I hardly use it at all now. But it's an important part of the equation. The only thing that's likely going to collect dust after June 24 is my 160gb Ipod, as I've simply decided that I need to live my live with only one device in my pocket, and that'll be my 32gb Iphone.

........people will be kicking themselves because they have to sell their original ipad to buy it........

My husband and I will have both of these awesome devices if I don't change my mind about upgrading my 3Gs after I install the new software update - my husband has a 3G so the update won't do as much for his iPhone.

And we won't be kicking our selves when the iPad 2 comes out because we don't have to sell off our personal belongings when we decide to buy something new. I will probably just give my iPad to my 6 year old son because he really enjoys reading and playing games on it.

I think the real question for me is if any of the new features on the iPhone 4 mean as much to me now that I have an iPad. I never expected the iPad to be so easy to carry along with me to work, salon, doctors appointments, parents house, hospital visits, road trips .......

The new screen on the iPhone 4 sounds cool but it's still only 3.5" and that just seems small to me now that I have a iPad, I have stoped doing a lot of the cool things I used to love doing on
my iPhone because I love doing the same things even more on the iPad and having subscribed to the unlimited data plan just makes my iPad indispensable.

It may seem like a large iPod Touch but I will tell you that in this case bigger is better and if you had one you would love it too.
