Apple is overcharging... Ic.
You are right.

Samsung Galaxy S costs 600-650 dollars and has 7 inch screen with 16GB memory as well.

You are absolutely right.

Samsung added two cameras, so they just thought they can just charge 600 dollars on their 7 inch tablet device.

You are sooo right.

There are bunch of tablets out there that is priced higher than iPad with smaller screen and worse specs.

But, you are so freaking right because you live in your lala land.

Hey, cool down. If you read my prior post, you'd see that I was responding to theSmoth's post about how he felt cheated by the price Apple charges for the iPad. I asked him to present documentation for that claim.

I already have the money saved and allocated for it. They would have to screw it up pretty bad for me NOT to buy it.

Despite all the BS about USB/Retina/2cameras, I'd expect for them to at least be able to match the Iphone 4 on RAM and processor.

Other than that, it's all icing.

I agree w/ u

I am pretty sure
1)facetime cam
2)more memory
3)slight bump in cpu to like 1.2 or little higher...

everything else is icing(although slightly higher res would be nice but i am not sure what that means for all the HD ipad app already out there(I def want to inherit all the awesome app that's already out there)...

Facetime and retina = sold

All the extras that Apple will put in are bonus in my opinion. I want as many add ons as possible. Heck, I want them to up the starting size from 16gb to 32gb... don't know if that will happen. They have the room inside them.

We're pretty much guaranteed that the new one will get more ram and cpu speed.

I don't currently own an ipad but I have used it plenty and love it. Not to mention I am complete believer in all things IOS.
I'm not a "complete believer" but I do think they've done a pretty good job.

I will order two of ipad 2 blindly no matter what(regardless of spec change) when they make the announcement.
The only Apple product I've ordered "blind" is the iPhone 4... and really got burned on that fiasco. Now, on my fourth, at least I've got one that will get me by (which is not saying much) till the next version which hopefully, they will get right.

iPad 2 (or whatever they call it) is likely to be better than the original, as long as they don't pull the same stunts they did with iP4.

The one truly exciting change they could have made to the iPad, was already killed off by the mouthpiece of mayhem. SJ. Oh well, this is the "New Apple".... heh! All one has to do is collapse their expectations and all is well... :)

Only if there were a 128 GB option and/or 512MB RAM....a camera does not interest me.

Mine is working fine, and it does everything I want it to right now, but in time, I can see two issues---a need for more RAM, because iOS developers are going to keep pushing the envelope until it chokes on 256...and more storage is always a good thing...

Mine will be re-purposed as a movie/song/game device for my daughter, to use in the car, etc.

As for wife's 64GB 3G...same rules apply. As long as she is happy with it, no need to upgrade. But like me, when 256 MB of ram isn't enough to let it operate comfortably, then we will look at getting her another. Might wait until the third revision of the iPad for both of us.

Why would (could?) anyone order it 'blindly'? Apple aren't going to announce order or pre-order of the unit before they announce the specs are they?

"Hey everyone, from today you can pre-order iPad2 from our store. Sorry though, we can't tell you what it does or any of it's features yet but you don't care, right?"

Specs/features and possibly review units will be released in the pre-sale hype as they always are. YouTube and online magazines will be chock full of iPad2. No one will even be able to order it 'blindly' unless they deliberately avoid all Market press.

I really hope iPad 2 ships with iOS 5 that supports "home sharing" on the device itself. Then the 16GB limit won't be as big of a problem. In fact, why this wasn't a priority from the start is beyond me.

There's little reason to sync unless you're leaving your household.

I will be ordering the iPad2 blindly. I think they would have fixed all the shortcomings of iPad1 by this time.

Apple is a cheapskate for only including 16 gb in the base iPad? Money grubbing?

It is amazing how quickly people get used to the status quo, and forget what things were like a few months ago.

When apple released the iPad, $500 was an incredible price. It was hundreds below what some pundits predicted, and definitely cheaper then anything else on the market, while delivering a substantial improvement in build quality.

I was a umpc fan before the iPad came out, and laid out about $1200 for something less capable a few years before.

Now that Apple has established the new price regime, and competitors are managing to barely match that price 10 months behind Apple, all of a sudden Apple is the "money grubber"? Apple had to make some definite concessions in hardware to come up with a price that was close enough to an "impulse buy" price so that "Joe main street" would adopt it. Something umpc's never managed to achieve. I think Apple made the right decision.

Back ot... I would order a 7" version without thought. But my iPads are still working great, and I have so few complaints that I probably would not pay out blindly for the same form factor. Cameras? Meh. Definitely not something I need on a tablet. 512 mb of ram? It would be nice to solve the reload problem associated with safari, but not for another $500. Improved screen? The screen already rocks (even compared to iPhone 4), and I strongly doubt that Apple will change that for iPad2. Better processor? That might seal the deal, except that I haven't seen any apps yet that need more than what iPad has. Maybe I will change my mind once epic releases their unreal based gps.

I'm hoping to skip a generation. I can't think of anything I need beyond what I have in iPad 1. The screen is great, audio and video are fine, I don't find many memory problems.

I expect, however, Apple will make a wonderful new UI with widgets and a better notification system and other delights and then claim it's not really compatible with iPad 1, forcing us to buy iPad 2 if we want the full user experience. That seems to be their business model.

Who else is w/ me?

I'll order in excess of 100 as long as they DON'T run iOS.

great form factor and build let down by dreadful software, like most apple stuff.

There has to be a genuine sounding reason for Steve to backtrack.

He could on Flash.

He could easily say at some stage.

"Well, back when he designed the iPad, we looked at Flash, and it was just a heap of bad news, and no way we could use it. But since then Adobe have been doing a fair amount of work, and together with our expertise at Apple we have now finally come up with a workable version that we can now offer on our tablets."

Or something like that :)

Personally I don't think it will happen though.

he won't say that because the technical limitations weren't the reason flash wasn't in there in the first place. ;)

you can tell when he's lying...his lips move!

If adobe puts some effort in flash for mac/mobile platforms, and it actually runs well, I don't see why apple wouldn't allow it.

People need to realize that apple isn't holding some great format from you, and that adobe is the bad actor in this scenario because they have a **** product.

Just keep in mind that as battery technology improves, processor power increases and becomes more efficient, and adobe continues to optimize their software, there WILL be a point when apple mobile devices can run flash.

It may be that by the time the hardware and software evolutions meet, flash will be obsolete. We'll have to keep waiting and see.

lol, whatever sunshine, you have no idea,....

I would pre-order right now if it was possible. I use my iPad for hours every day and it's getting pretty banged up, but I just tell myself, Well, it's only got to last a few more months. Then I'll pass it along, battle scars and all, to my son.

I will... I want it mainly as a PDF and book reader... almost bought current one, but convinced myself to wait... so, 2 the first day it comes out - pre-order?

I have been told I will be castrated if I buy the new model. I'm just going to give my first gen as a hand me down and all will be well :)

I will wait to see how it is received by people

I will also not be getting it unless the 2gb cap is either removed or raised quite a bit

If that means not upgrading at all or using another tablet, so be it.

The 2gb cap is downright laughable and monthly is almost used by me. I do not watch movies whatsoever but reach the cap through news apps, email, and other activities that are not even CLOSE to being "heavy" activities.

I have Wifi at home too so I use the iPad on 3g only while at work

I'll probably skip the iPad 2 and plonk my money down for my first iPhone in April (or whenever the iPhone5 launches) as I will be living in Europe where I can actually afford a data plan, unlike here in NZ.

So I won't be "blindly" ordering an iPad 2. I will, however, probably blindly order an iPad 3 :D

I will. Don't have Ipad 1. Too small.

I'm waiting to see what the final product is going to look like on RIM's Playbook first before I decide.

So far it is a very cool looking device. There are times, at least for me, when a 7" form factor would be preferred.

Not interested in a 7" here or anything less than a 128GB option.

I will probably order blindly if the form factor is relatively the same (retaining the same size screen) with at least 128GB.

Otherwise, no.

Who else is w/ me?
Probably not me. I bought an iPad a couple months ago and it is working great. Also have e 3 year damage insurance with Squaretrade.
I'd definitely strongly consider buying the 3rd generation iPad blindly though ;-)
