LSU will score 31 unanswered points after Ohio goes up 10-0 to win big time. They'll really make OS look like chumps.

Man, I wish I had this catalogue gizmo like that dude in back to the future ;)

what should have happened was UGA vs USC, at least.

I hope you mean in the Rose Bowl, but if you do mean the National Championship, then if you do not win your conference you should not be in the title game over the winner of your conference.

I wonder what an LSU v. OSU matchup would have been like in Pasadena?

Wasn't that clear from yesterday? It would have been just as lopsided because LSU is on another level than Ohio State. Everyone knew it before, it was pure delusion that OSU fans actually thought they had a chance. And that's not to say OSU is trash, but skill-wise it is apparent they shouldn't have been in the top 10. Their powder-puff early schedule and then the Big-10 conference play doesn't give them any really good teams to hone their competitiveness under.

I would have loved to see a USC vs. Georgia matchup in the Rose Bowl. Playing Illinois, the one team in the regular season that beat Ohio State, was like 'SC playing a Pop Warner team.

I think the frustrating thing is, at least for USC and Georgia fans, is that it was so obvious that there were three teams in the majors (LSU, USC, Georgia) and the rest were just a notch down. But because the BCS wasn't interested in who the actual best team in the country was, they had to put in OSU because of record, not because of skill. I guarantee you that a USC vs. LSU National Championship game would not only have been vastly more entertaining, but whoever won would actually be the best team in the nation. What did LSU really win? Yes, the national championship, but it was over Ohio State. I'm sure it would have meant more if it was over USC. And what did the Trojans really win? The Rose Bowl, the granddaddy of them all, but it certainly would have meant more if we had played Georgia in it or LSU in the national championship...

yes, i meant in the Rose bowl, at the least.

if only Georgia would have played LSU in the SEC title game.

again, you keep saying that UGA didn't win their conference, but Ohio state doesn't even have a conference championship game

I know, neither does the Pac-10. But I think if you prove you aren't the best in your conference, you shouldn't be in the national title game. If anything, this strengthens my argument. A playoff for conference at the end of the season showcases talent at that moment, pretty much regardless of any early to mid season inconsistent play in your team.

And don't think we Trojans would have under-estimated Georgia. You guys are a great team, and it would have been a lot of fun to have a Rose Bowl between our two teams. It would have been a great game, undoubtedly.

Here are a few articles and I'll put some quotes in it.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22466923/

"The Trojan defense is without peer, possessing frightening speed. Rey Maualuga continues to validate himself as the second coming of Junior Seau, leading a front seven that swarmed and stuffed Illinois’ spread/read option.

And Joe McKnight let us know he’s primed to be the best running back in America next fall."

"Has any team dominated its sport more the last six years than USC? Maybe the New England Patriots, but that’s debatable.

"Want more? USC has produced three Heisman winners, seven first-round draft picks and two national titles. "

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22468385/

"The USC Trojans are scary good."

"That’s what’s so much better about a playoff system like the one we see in college hoops. Teams have the opportunity to overcome midseason injuries. Teams have the opportunity to yell at the right time in order to make strong late-season runs. A loss at the start of the season does not eliminate you from title conversations."

"It's that USC can make a compelling case for being the best team in the country when it counts, at the end of the year. But USC isn't in the BCS title game.

"You'd love to see them in a playoff, wouldn't you?" noted USC alum and Trojan honk Will Ferrell in the tunnel underneath the Rose Bowl just moments after the game drew to a merciful close."

"But since Booty (our QB) has been back, USC not only hasn't lost –- USC has been outrageously good."

but Georgia wasn't given the opportunity to play in the SEC championship game. and the reason they didn't is b/c of 1 loss to Tennessee, where they just didn't show up in the first half, costing them the game.

i agree that a UGA v USC rose bowl would have been probably the best bowl game this year

Did anyone think that the officials favored LSU? I mean for example, when LSU's QB grounded the ball intentally and they were not going to call it at all until Tressel came out yelling and you do not see him that way very often. Somehow the game felt set up for Ohio State to lose.

I see that you are from Ohio, and you are doing a good job of being a loyal OSU fan, but give me a break! The momentum of the game changed completely on the roughing the passer call that allowed LSU to go up by three touchdowns and basically put the game out of reach. That was a fair call and the back breaker for OSU, IMHO.

Of course, I must admit that my wife teaches at LSU so I'm a bit biased. Geaux Tigers!

I'm not biased besides the fact that I hate both of the schools that were in the National Championship.

Yes, you are from Ohio, and yes, Tressel did start screaming at a bad call, but that game was NOT the officiating. Ohio state got the living s**t beat out of them, the 12 point disparity wasn't indicative at all of the beat down.

EDIT:

And not to jump the gun, but the VERY early pre-season predictions are out for the 2008-2009 season.

ESPN.com #1: Georgia
Rivals.com #1: USC

I like that OSU is starting #6, that is enough time to make it back to #1 and that USC game should be good and I know we will win  yeah, 3rd time is the charm ;)

As if the last two years of bowl games didn't prove the inadequacy of the Big 10's best, you get to play us at our home opener. I will be there, and it is a huge game, even if you guys are always overrated...:D

so Georgia ended at number 2 in the AP poll. and georgia wants a playoff system

here

And USC wasn't number 2, why???? I mean, you beat Hawaii, who everyone knew you would slaughter. And we beat Illinois, who everyone knew we would slaughter, but at least our victim had beaten Ohio State...

grrr, whatever. I guess 2 and 3 are the same, considering they are both NOT the national champion...

well, you were #2 in the other poll. but like you said, 2 is not a winner and 3 no one remembers....

Many of the big schools, the ones that are in the top 30 or so every year, will threaten to break off and start their own super league and play-off system. They would take all the money with them, of course.

The other schools are going to want their share, because football funds all the other sports, mens and womens, that they are good at and they won't want to be cut off.

They will agree to a playoff system where all the schools share in the money.

In the end, money will drive this change. Too bad it is taking so long.
