Who will win the World Cup?

I'm an American living in France, but my vote in this poll went to the Netherlands. I guess I should wait until watching Spain play this afternoon, but I'd say I enjoyed the style of the Dutch the best so far. If only they had the Czech's keeper, they'd be set :)

Cheers

I'm a NZ'er living in the UK and my vote went to Ukraine,I realise only an outside chance but if Brasil mess up the cup is wide open.

Apart from that it wont be wide open to teams like the ukraine :)

England, Argentina, Italy, Dutch..... All have a chance with brazil and a bigger chance without

I stand by my choice I've a feeling the usual suspects are going to get it wrong and a eastern european nation is going to come quietly through.Time will tell I guess.:)

oh sh*t I've just realised Spain are playing Ukraine at 2 pm and I've got to go to acupuncture damn I guess we'll have a better idea in a couple of hours.

Ukraine ain't gonna win anything if they continue to defend like they are at the moment. Two goals in 15 minutes isn't a good sign.

Looking at the results, should'nt this be poll actually be titled, "If you like football, where are you from? If you don't, select a random team from this list."

Yeah...agreed with the posts above. The USA was roughly a million times more hyped up than it should have been. How the hell did they get 5th seed!?

I was getting excited about their prospects from hearing ESPN announcers talking...but man, watching them play the other day was like watching a hunk of molasses try to get organized and kick a ball around.

Let us know if that changes after watching the next 8... :p ;)

After watching the next eight matches, my vote is still with Argentina. I was impressed by the Czech Republic and Spain so I expect them to both do well.

I want England to win, but that wasn't the question. I'm also looking out for Japan, Mexico and Tunisia because my team has a player in each of these squads - one, Jaidi, has already scored for Tunisia.

So much drama!

Has anyone been paying attention to what went on with Togo? Weird.

And now France is blaming the grounds crew for not properly watering the field, to account for their tie with Switzerland. Tsk Tsk.

France didn't lose, they drew , though they blew. :p

That was a brain fart. Seriously. I watched the game. I guess I wasn't thinking while typing. What a novel concept! :p
Even the pro announcers do that from time to time.
“On another night, they'd have won 2-2.” (commenting on a Valencia-Liverpool Match) :D

Brazil: Please no. Reason 1: The shameful behavior of some of the players in the last world cup (prime example, Rivaldo holding his face when the ball hit his leg). Reason 2: Their overbounding arrogance. Excuse me, but if you are oh so dominant and great, why is it that you didn't win more World Cup and Copa America titles?

I have to agree with this.
As much as I like to see top quality football players, I absolutely hate the arrogance that goes with it.
Rivaldo's action really really pissed me off too. If you think you are so great, why do you think you need that kind of unsporting behaviour??

A call for good sportsmanship is fine. To suggest Brazil are in a league of their own when it comes to arrogance in world class football is pretty funny. That's a straw argument that doesn't wash. Like the championship will be won by the most humble of teams? Whom would you suggest?

An interesting if somewhat obfuscatory mixing of metaphors.
Thatch a lot. I thought the argument was a little less than clean. Mixed metaphor was the last straw. :p
