I have to agree with the OP, i got my case in the mail today for my 6+. i was surprised how big it actually is. it doesn't fit in my board shorts!

Which is why I'm getting the 6. When Apple reduces the huge bezels on the Plus either next year or the year after and it's more manageable, I'll consider it. But as of right now the Plus is just way to big and especially too long IMO.

The 4.7" seems like the perfect size and seems like it will be much more comfortable in my hands. Coming from an iPhone 5 the 4.7" screen will be plenty big enough for me. If I need anything bigger I have my iPad Air. :)

Haha I remember those from when I was a kid. Actually the trend, when I was around middle school, was SUPER TINY. Remember that one Nokia phone? That was my dream phone! But back then all you did was call, text, or play Snake. Now things have swung the other way.

I have a Nokia somewhere in my office that is about that size. It had a metallic sheen that was green in some light and eggplant purple (I think) in others. I remember thinking that made it so cool and state of the art!

I do remember the trend toward tiny. There were some incredibly tiny clamshell phones I envied but with my husband working in the tech industry I was pushed early on to try out Pocket PC and Palm devices and very quickly came to want a device that merged those functions with cell phone functions. So I went to Windows and Palm and never got to try one of the mini clamshell phones I used to covet. I know those little clamshell phones are still around with some services.

If IPhones would have stayed at the size of IPhone 4 I'd have stayed with that size and continued relying on IPad for most of my device work. But once we got to the size of IPhone 5 and it started stabbing me in the hip when I bend or sit down with it in my front jeans pocket, that was it, I decided I may as well go for the biggest iPhone they've got.

I should add -- It seems a bit silly to me that Apple has such a drive to make these phones thinner (one dimension of a phone) yet from another dimension, it's being INCREASED. I understand why, obviously, but when you think about it a certain way, it does seem a bit silly that there is such a drive for thinness yet these things are actually GROWING from another dimension.

That doesn't seem silly at all. Tech gets bigger when it makes sense and smaller when it makes sense.

Imagine if TVs were still a foot thick and no more than 30 inches or so in screen size.

Current Note 3 owner, the only thing that i can't get passed is the giant bezels Apple put into the device, it makes the phone look a little dated. Samsung was able to fit a larger screen size into a shorter phone by shrinking the bezels.

I pre ordered a 6+, and I am looking forward to getting to know the apple eco-system a little bit more, but I think this (bezels) is one area where apple missed the mark and could have really impressed. Just search for the Sharp aquos crystal, beautiful almost bezel-less phone. That might be a little extreme but I think it just goes to show that it can be done.

Apple needs to give you a reason to upgrade. Which is why I pre ordered the 6. When Apple decides to do the 6 Plus right and reduces the huge bezels I'll be all over it. As it is now the 6 Plus looks absolutely ridiculous IMO.

The 6+ is too tall. If Apple had made the top/bottom bezels smaller I probably would have bought it instead. I really wanted the bigger screen but for now I'll stick with the 6.

LOL, it is really ridiculous I agree 100%, I've just been so spoiled by my Note 3 that I can't be without a gigantic screen. Remoting into my various servers isn't a dream on the Note 3, but it's finally workable. Also watching streaming shows through my plex server on the Note 3 on a 1080p screen is great.

So yeah it's definitely ridiculous looking, but also in many ways, practical for certain use cases.

Yeah I agree the bezels have got to go on the iPhone. I'm not sure what they can do though to keep the symmetry otherwise, since the home button is taking up all that space.

Way I see it, I'll not need an external battery with the 6+, so I'm just trading thickness for height and width, which is acceptable, given I'm 6'4".

I think that apple might be a little too concerned with symmetry, yeah it's nice to have a symmetrical look, but at some point the bezels have to stop growing. Like I said before the sharp aquos may be a look apple could try to implement, but in a sharper fashion.

Pretty much this. I was initially keen on buying the 6+ until I realized that it's bigger than the Note 3 AND with a smaller screen.

I had a Oneplus One which was pretty big but manageable. That is the grey in this pic. 6 Plus is the black. iPhone is slightly taller and wider. I believe the OPO is larger than the note by a bit for comparison.

How did you like your One + One?

I'm 6'1" and I feel like these phablets were made for me and my giant hands. #tinyhatersgonnahate

Ive got you 100% man! I held a 5.5 LG G3 in the store the other day because I was so sure that the 6 plus was gonna be huge and was so worried about not being able to use it with one hand....etc. Its not bad at all. I'm 6'1" as well and have large hands so i think the larger phone will be just fine for me.

I'm with you guys. A 5.5 in my hand is probably pretty similar to a 4 or 4.7 in a normal persons hand. I'm a big guy. I have big shoes, big clothes, might as well have a big phone.

I don't have huge basketball hands since I can't palm a basketball but that doesn't mean I can't use a large phone. I remember when touchscreen typing first came out. Everyone said can't be done. But we all managed. I've seen little petite girls have a note and they are just fine. Once I receive the plus, if I think it's to much of a hassle, I'll just exchange it for the 4.7. Problem solved. But right now I'm looking forward to the larger screen. After all I have 2 weeks to make that assessment.

For the last few days I've pondered it, 50/50, on which iPhone 6 to get. For the few days prior to pre-order, I was paying extra attention to how many times I texted with one hand. I wasn't trying to intentionally do it. Just how I would normally text. That's when I knew which phone to get. I use my 4" all the time with one hand. I'm not willing to give up the one handed texting. Holding it is what everyone seems to be talking about. But it will be very difficult to text one hand. 4.7" it is for me.
