I've been using Siri and it works well for most questions, but if I ask it for something about a local business, for example, where is the nearest pizza restaurant, it always replies that Siri is not able to give information for businesses outside the US and also something about using only the UK voice.
It works very well for other sorts of questions.
Is anyone else in the UK having this problem?
Is there a solution?

The solution is to wait until 2012 my friend.

:(

When I first bought the phone, I though SIRI was more of a gimmick than anything else.

It's actually incredibly useful. I can speak much faster than I can type, so texts, google searches, setting reminders, etc. are actually done faster with SIRI.

No, Siri doesn't support location based services outside the US. I believe it's supposed to be added for the UK in 2012.

I've been using Siri a bit here and there. I'm curious to see how it will integrate with my car's bluetooth system, but I haven't been in my car yet. I'll test that out tomorrow.

I'm using it all the time. In fact I'm using the voice integration to type this post.

Siri is extremely useful to me. I have used it in real world experiences everyday since I got it. Just yesterday I was walking around Walnut Creek with my girlfriend and she wanted a panini for lunch. Siri found me a place that made panini sandwiches and gave us awesome walking directions.

That's just one of the many real-world uses I have used it for so far.

I'm using it to text, write e-mails, make phone calls, set reminders, alarms, notes. Mostly while driving. I've used it for directions, and finding things. I have actually used it a lot.

A friend invited me to a play on Facebook.

Old Way: Roundtrip between Facebook and Calendar to input the appointment.

New Way: Speak to Siri to schedule into my calendar.

I even made a change in the date, and Siri re-scheduled.

Example 2

I wanted to catch the news at 11pm, but often I get distracted and forget.

Old Way - Manually start the timer on the iPhone.

New Way - Tell Siri to set an alarm for 10 minutes. Done.

I also used it to write on Facebook!!

It's too soon to ask this question. Siri was out for just two days. We'll see in a month if anybody will still be talking to her.

I don't really think it works to well. It was fun at first but just takes to long to answer back, It might be because my internet is slow or too many people around me are on it but. I tell Siri something and it takes longer than actually doing it, that and it doesn't understand uncommon names. I tried to get it to call my girlfriend called Hitomi and it just couldn't understand it.

I will wait till it's updated, still feels like its a beta version of the program

I thought it was a silly gimmick too, at first. However, I've used it to set alarms, timers, put in calendar stuff, make notes, write emails/texts/facebook posts, call people and play music. The only real problems have been launch day when everyone and their brother was fiddling with it, and the fact that Siri doesn't understand a lot of ethnic names. I'm not sure how to fix that. I'm sure it will improve a great deal when they add in more languages.

I am just curious how people are using it in the car.

We have the 4S hooked up to the car's bluetooth and I was curious if the only way to activate Siri was by picking up the phone. If so, that makes it kind of useless because I'd rather not be fiddling with my phone while driving.

keep trying is my only suggestion. i am indian and all of my friends have weird indian names. literally picks them up on the first go around now

To be honest, its fairly worthless. Its good for parlor tricks and not much more.

I guess it's okay to simply disregard the rest of the thread's posts stating otherwise

Is there currently a way for a car's BT system to activate Siri? I'd expect that to arrive eventually if not, it would definitely be a welcome addition

I have been using and find it works great for setting up appointments, reminders and timers.

Siri for me is useful.

I find it quicker to make calls, set a reminder or an alarm than manually having to unlock the phone then opening the app and typing.

I buy a lot of stuff online and Siri is useful for converting the currencies, much quicker than having to go to xe and doing it manually.

My main use for it though is when I'm in the car, eg send a text to the other half and tell her "I will be there in 15 mins so BE ready!!!":D

When I use Siri to create an alarm, it always creates a new one. Even if I name the alarm "morning" and ask Siri: set my morning alarm for 8:00 AM... it wont set the one called "morning" but it just creates a new one.

Anyway to make it set a specific alarm? Or just to turn on an alarm that already has the correct time?

Edit: if I say "turn my 7:00AM alarm on/off" it will toggle the existing alarm... wish it would do this based on alarm name so I could have one morning alarm and change it as needed.

I use it for searching the web when I'm too lazy to type or if I want to set an alarm, timer, calendar reminders, etc. I'm limited though since Apple conveniently neglected to tell us that a bunch of Siri's useful features won't work anywhere but the US.

That really bugged me too

I use Siri mostly for reminders and alarms, still getting used to it and it doesn't always understand me. Think I really just need to sit down and play with it properly at some point - it will learn the way I speak then and hopefully improve over time.

I'm not really using siri for anything, but i AM using the dictation for text messaging. finally!

and its freakin accurate!
