I plan on buying one.

I see the author of this thread is going to order the 1.3 ghz version. Do you have any idea what the price might be? If the 1.2 with the bigger ssd is $1599 US, what might the 1.3 be?

BTW for those who don't like to read the fine print the battery life was tested using the faster CPU and bigger ssd with some pretty tough testing. Unlike many other brands who publish optimistic battery life the rMB should hold pretty true to what is advertised.

I'd guess $1699 for the 1.3MHz version. I don't think I'd pay much more (unless they offered a 1TB version but it would be silly to expect such an option).

I've never tested out any Apple laptop before buying it. I'm just going to order the 1.3GHz without seeing it in person.

Anybody else trust Apple enough to order it before seeing it in person??

Do you buy a car without a test drive? How about ordering chinese food without a sample? Marry your wife without ever "testing driving" her first?

I'm going to molest the hell outta that new rMP before apple will ever see $1299 from me. You bet it's gonna get an investigation more thorough than Tim Cook booting out Scott Forstall for all his inside anti-gay jokes.

I can't remember ever being at a Chinese restaurant where I or anyone else requested a sample before ordering. Do you eat at Chinese buffets? Cuz if so, you should stop. Stank.

Ha ha ha! I'm not sure if you are serious or just trying to add a little humor to the thread but your comments are simply hilarious.

1) My last two brand new cars (Prius) were ordered/paid for without a test drive. I love both of them!
2) Do you really get samples in restaurants???
3) Are you saying I needed to sleep with my wife before marrying her? She was worth the wait.
4) Anyone who makes an anti-gay joke should be fired (as that should be sexual harassment).

I love this new little computer and I can't wait until mine arrives at my door.

There is so much that's new here that I am very skeptical that anyone can really figure out whether this machine will work well for them with just an in-store check. That would get you past the "I simply cannot deal with this" stuff, but think about all the new hardware here. Will you hate the trackpad? Will you be able to type happily on the keyboard? Does the CPU work well for the tasks you need to do? Apple has a 14 day return period for a reason - don't feel bad about using it. It's actually a very important sales metric for them and you can bet they will be watching that like a hawk to gauge market acceptance.

I suspect it may be difficult to adjust to the new keuboard.

Heck yeah, the current one is bad enough! :D

Well, I probably will wait until B&H Photo offers some discount, which should be about a month after release. But I am willing to buy it without seeing it otherwise.

It's not like MacBook represents an uncharted territory for Apple. It's a next logical evolution of what Apple has learned from MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. If you can live in 1 USB-C port limitation and slower CPU/GPU processing power, I honestly don't see much downside.

I love B&H but make sure you understand their computer return policy before you order.

Ha ha ha, you actually waited until you were married?? For real? Rare breed, my friend, rare breed...

Ordered my last two cars as well without driving those particular models, but had extensive experience with the brands (Audi & Mini) and have loved both to death. Same with this one - never owned the new MacBook, but I have owned a lot of Macs and other Apple products. Plus, as has been said, that return policy is second to none, can't really go wrong, even if you were to order one of each color just to see which one you really wanted.

Samples at restaurants?? Seriously..this guy is probably a lot of fun to hang out with...:p

I'm not getting the MB for a number of reasons, but in general I won't buy laptops without trying the keyboard myself. I don't care about the screen or performance, but a bad keyboard is a total dealbreaker. From the photos, this one looks way too thin to be any good, and I'd definitely want to try it first if I was interested in the MB.

I will go to the Apple store to try out the keyboard and see how it looks IRL in space grey. And I'll probably wait for reviews before I choose a CPU.

I find it hard to really judge a keyboard until I've done quite a bit of real world typing on it...YMMV. I have a hard time judging based on trying it in the store.

I hope that the people who are demanding samples at restaurants are also demanding that the server bring them little cups of lime sherbet between samples so that they can cleanse their refined palates? ;)

ROTFL!!! That was brilliant!

Showing off that Harvard education I see. :D

It's almost impossible to tell if you like it overall or not in such a short period of time as two weeks. If it's a really bad experience then i'll take it back. Otherwise I'm probably just going to use it for a year and then i'll learn more about what I like and done like and the next time I am ready for a new machine that experience will effect the decision I make.

No, showing off near certainty about what would happen if I tried the "bring me a sample" thing at a restaurant in Chinatown. I'd probably wind up in a wok as the meat portion of General Gao's chicken.

I hear you on the keyboard. I think that by making myself do several good-sized Word projects during the two weeks I can probably get to 90%+ certainty on the keyboard. Actually, part of my confidence about that is (ironically) the result of touch-typing on the standard size iPad virtual keyboard. It works well enough for me, with ZERO tactile feedback, that I can't imagine that the rMB won't work just fine. I could be wrong, and that's also totally personal. I might be the only person on the planet who winds up feeling that way.

Yeah, that's my train of thought. I'm a writer, so a good keyboard is a must. But I'm sure it'll be just be fine. I view it the same way as my going from my ideal screen size of 13" to 12": it's just a small difference. And as newellj said, the iPad keyboard works just fine for me.

I have to say that when I first started using the iPad's virtual keyboard that way I was almost shocked at how easy and accurate it was, partly because of the total lack of tactile feedback and partly because of the smaller size. Given that experience, I figure the rMB is a no-brainer, but I can't speak for anyone else - other than you, now, I guess. Thumbs up!

I just think that on a physical keyboard, people are using to having that tactile feedback that lets them know that yes they have pressed that key. Who knows, some of us may actually be able to type faster than normal on the new keyboard. I'm actually not a huge fan of iPads (although I do own one), but I do see how one types on an iPad could easily transfer to the new MacBook.

I can type pretty damn fast on my iPhone 6+. I have no worries about my new rMB after all.

I'm purchasing it first thing on April 10th, without hesitation. I know I have 14 days to return the item, there is no risk involved.

Only the richest of the rich buy something like a $1,300 computer before playing with one first.

This is not true at all. If you can afford it, it doesn't matter if you "play" with it when you know you can simply just return it for a refund. I'm far from rich, a $1,300 computer doesn't scream rich to me.

Funny point of view. So far i have bought pretty much every computer that i didn't built myself without prior testing them. Most of those were of course built to my specification anyway. With apple i decide on those factors that matter to me if i buy one of their offerings or not. In this case it is something i have waited for quite some time, and as it fits my needs much better than anything else they offer, it is incredibly cheap to me and i certainly will order it online the moment i can. Since i'm probably abroad anyway and nowhere near an apple store that isn't an option anyway.
