I'm hoping for about a 20% gain. I doesn't matter, though, Im sure even the base model would work. I just want the best in a small package.
Hopefully the fully loaded version will be a beast

Yeah, that's the only thing I am worried about. If it will be visualy smaller then my last 13inc rMBP
So your worried if 12 is 13?
Go to the Apple website and print the cut out templates for each and hold them at arms length relative to your lap. There is also a formula but its a little long:
2015 rMBPUIstutterlag - LGScreen(4XYellowRetention) / 1PortMCoreNoWay * OverPricediPadAir2 = (Result)
The divide the result by the price of the AWatch in Stainless with Stainless band.
One last thing, try super gluing a Kensington slim Keyboard to your iPad Air 2 set it down by your knees and see if you can identify at least 35 of the complaints or inexcusable issues with the new 2015 rMBP and the 15 pages of painfully obvious yet continuously repeated reasons why Macrumors "experts" think the new Macbook is a total ripoff.
All of this should give you some idea if 12 is indeed the new 13 along with a crap ton of cynical replies (like this particular post)

We are doing the same. My wife think the "gold" is a Rosie PinkWe are both getting the maxed out versions. Space gray (I think) for me. Gold for her.

Don't be an idiot. What you can fit on the screen in terms of windows and size of text matters which is where resolution and changing the resolutions on both MBA and MB matters to me. I can't do that with a paper cut out, though I could probably make a working replica of the inside of your head with a paper cut out.

If you consider 2013 MacBook Air performance beastly then yes.

Have you ever considers being a stand up comedian? I couldn't stiop chuckling from your reply. We need to laugh at this whole thing a little bit more. It is almost too serious sometimes.
I do!!! I am used to my 2010 11" MBA.
Give me 2013 MBA performance and I will be one happy camper!

Never happen on this site but I do agree! Hey are you buying a 12"? If so, can we just walk in and buy on the 10th? Or order with ship to store? I will be at a Vegas convention the entire week following.Have you ever considers being a stand up comedian? I couldn't stiop chuckling from your reply. I'm a big rMB optimist, but "beast" might be a stretch???![]()
Ya, I'm a fan of the new rMB... but it's no "beast". It's a good machine for people who don't need a beast. For those who do, the pro line is probably a better choice. Even then - can a MacBook Pro really be called a "beast"? The MacPro maybe. But not a notebook. Apple Notebooks are more than adequate for most tasks. But not beasts.
Originally I was going to order the 1.3GHz version without trying it. Now that I know the prices, I'm going to just order the 1.2GHz unless the reviews show the 1.3GHz is worth the price.
I'm sticking with 1.3, nothing changing my mind about that.
I need more evidence that there is something special about the 1.3GHz chips. If they are more efficient (producing less heat per GHz) than the others then I will still buy the 1.3GHz, otherwise I'll get the 1.2Ghz.
I'm definitely going to get the larger SSD. That is a no-brained to me. Whoever uses the computer in the future, whether it be me or the person I sell it to, will one day appreciate the extra storage space.
Eh, just the fact that I use my Mac so much and it's my only computer makes it worth it for me to max it out...whether or not I actually use the performance increase. Just peace of mind, really.
But I'm not convinced that it will have a performance increase. If an application generates the same amount of heat you'll just reach the throttling temperature faster.

In PDF's case, I think the peace of mind issue he cited is all the reason that's needed. If I were coming at this from where he is, that would probably be my call, too. (FWIW...)
I've never tested out any Apple laptop before buying it. I'm just going to order the 1.3GHz without seeing it in person.
Anybody else trust Apple enough to order it before seeing it in person??
I may be convinced to get it anyways.
Money is not a problem (although I think it might be better to save for the inevitable Skylake upgrade).
That's kinda what I'm thinking. I'll probably go 1.2 and 512GB, and then I'll give that to my wife when the Skylake version comes.

I think we are hitting a plateau with storage. 256 and 512 seem the sweet spot with all the cloud options available. Not to mention $40 128GB Flash Drives. In 2 or 3 years, 512 may be excessive. *This does not apply to everyone of course.
