I bought myself a MacBook Pro with 8/256. I have decided I want to use it as my primary machine but my current 2012 MacBook Pro has 500 GB of data and I want to move it all over. I have until 1/2/2021 to return it so I am going to try to see if I can fit my critical apps/files on the MBP and the rest on an external. If not then it goes back as an exchange for the 16/512 model.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. May God give us a better 2021 then this year.

Just got back from Best Buy pick up. :D

Our son has been using a Mac Mini we literally picked up off the side of the road for school so far this year. It only can stably run up to High Sierra. He like it and since he saw how well the new M1 Macs reviewed, he’s been saving money for a base model M1 Mac Mini. He has $110 saved!

He’ll have a 512GB/16GB M1 Mini tomorrow morning :)

we don’t normally do big gifts like this but this is a crap year and they’re likely to be on distance learning the rest of the school year. His older brother is hoping for money to build a gaming PC down the line when he has enough saved and parts come in stock. He’ll be opening a Ryzen 5 3600XT and 1660 Super tomorrow as well! Shhhh!!!

Oh, I was contemplating trading in my 2020 Intel MacBook Pro & get an M1 Air based on the trade in value through Apple. However, then I saw the reviews for the 3rd party Apple uses for trade ins and I opted against it. I did break down though and bought a Magic Keyboard for my iPad Pro

Jealous😜 Happy early XMas to you.
It is berry nice thus far. It is going to take a little bit to get used to the keyboard. Not used to a completely cool and silent Mac lol I really like Touch ID integration.

Just installed 1Blocker to keep ads and tracker etc. out of the picture.

Hopefully, you can get yours sooner than expected.

Merry Christmas to you, Beach. :)

I was very interested in purchasing a M1 MacBook Air until I found out that it can only support one external display. For my needs, I need to connect two 1080p monitors for work so unfortunately looks like this won't work for me.

I imagine he it will take a week for the grin to leave his face after tomorrow. :D

I’m up for adoption😂. It sounds like your sons will have a very happy Christmas. Happy Holidays.

I have a 2019 16” MBP and couldn’t justify an M1 MacBook to my husband (although i convinced myself with no trouble). I have also settled for the Magic Keyboard for my iPad Pro.

Would have got one except the ridiculous cost to upgrade the M1 mini’s memory to 16GB and to a 1TB drive put me off. I refuse to pay their absurd markup on memory and storage whenever possible. I will delay my purchase until the absolute minute my 2009 iMac (i7, 16GB and 1TB SSD) kicks the bucket.

It was a legit deal and some people who jumped on it got them for $799.

The only catch was that you had to work for an education institution (Tk-12, College, University) and had to have a school email address which I have...
All orders with the extra $100 off were canceled (including mine — I work for a university so definitely have a legitimate edu email).

its a hard pill to swallow for sure. We can only hope they offer some upgrade ability in upcoimg iMacs and Mac Pro's.

The M1 Macs look really promising, but I’ll be holding on to my 2016 MBP a little longer. After getting the first retina MBP in 2012 and the first butterfly keyboard MBP in 2016 (though I never had any problems with the keyboard) I’ve decided this time around I won’t be getting the first iteration of new tech/design.

I’ll wait another year or two after which I imagine the Apple silicon Macs will be even better. My 2016 MBP also recently got a new top case (battery, keyboard, trackpad, etc.) and display installed so it still has some life in it.

Ordered a Mini with 16gb/1tb in November from Expercom at a decent discount (as well as no tax) but it still hasn’t shipped! Sold my 2018 MBP first week of December for $2k to make sure it sold before depreciation hits hard for that model. But now I’ve been without for almost a month besides my work-issued 2019 13” MBP.
Just excited to get my hands on my new Mini!
