I went through having too small a hard drive the phone before the one I currently had and I vowed never again. I'm also kind of a hoarder and my current phone is already around 55 GB usage. I figure apps are just going to get bigger and bigger so better safe than sorry.

Yeah, in my experience with the 64GB 5 it should be $50-$60 more than the 64GB 6 models but probably not the full $100 difference.

It's really not even that...

Current Verizon promotion is all phones, regardless of harddrive or model 4 and up to 5 are all worth 200. So, a iPhone 4 8GB model will fetch you the same as a iPhone 5 64 gb model.

AT&T the difference in trade in value for the iPhone 5 16gb is $10. 150 for 16gb, 160 for 64gb.

Gazelle is $10 difference as well.

So, the most you're seeing now is $10 and that's for going from the low-end to the top end or 16gb to 128gb. Nowhere near the $200 you pay in the end for the difference... So really, this shouldn't factor into your decision. Really should only be based on if you really think you need that space. I always use it, so I always get it. But the trade-in/resell is never a good investment for it anymore.

I'll take what I can get (except 16GB)... 128 would be nice, but I was already happy with my 64GB (would have gone 32 had it been base).

When i delete the games I never play, I use almost no space. My music selection is limited as I mostly just stream random playlists.

The only thing that has me reconsidering the 16gb is with a bigger screen I might actually watch movies more on it.

Oh yeah, those sites it'll be a $50 difference max. I meant on eBay, which is odd because with the 32GB users could recoup the extra. 64GB will probably be popular to resell now.

Not really...

...sure, you can probably find some 64 gb's that sold for more, and some 16gb's that sold for less, it's hard to really find true price points with sites like this because there's always some idiot who will buy a 64gb for $800 BIN. doesn't really mean that's the true value. Just using the last 2 sold... $21 difference. Plus ebay takes a cut of the sale, and you have to pay to ship it or charge the seller for shipping which cuts into your profit...

Show me some comparable iphone 5's sold on ebay where you can recoup the $200 difference from a 16gb to 64gb... not happening.

I think the issue now is that Apple devalued the 64GB. It probably would've went for quite a bit more if the 64GB wasn't $300 now.

Maybe, but that's inevitable, and pretty comparable to history.

3g 8/16 GB with initial price points at 200/300

4s/5 - 16/32/64 with initial price points at 200/300/400.

6 - 16/64/128 with initial price points at 200/300/400.

Apple devalues their price point/storage every couple years it appears, so no reason to think history won't repeat itself with iPhone 7. Now, if you're on 1 yr contract that's not true, and can still extract value before these devaluations happen... but most users are on 2yr contracts, and can't count on this sort of thing not to repeat.

If it's a real issue to anyone they just need to sell before events.

Although now that I think about it I'll just buy 64GB in case the 128GB doesn't resell at enough of a premium. I really don't need the extra 64GB.

I am; Id love to be able to have all of my music library with me plus not have to worry about having room for games/pictures/videos. Unfortunately I would likely need 256gb to be completely comfortable since my music almost fills up my 160 gb ipod classic, so I'm not quite there yet, but a 128gb iphone is still decent progress.

Add me to the club! Made the decision to go 128GB today. I figured, I'm not planning on getting an iPad until next year most likely, so my storage for TV shows and such will be more for a single device, and 64GB may not be enough.

I've been waiting for a 128GB iPhone for years! I prefer to actually store my music on my phone, and even with the 240kbps conversion in iTunes I can't fit all my music on my phone. I'll finally be able to carry my entire music library with me!

I guess, that's not really an option for me... I don't have a back-up phone, so selling my phone before the new phone's price points/storage options are even announced would leave me phoneless for over a week... not an option.

Most likely, you just have to realize that extra money you're spending on the extra storage won't be coming back to you. Personally, I'm okay with that, I use the storage so it's worth it to me.

I got 128GB. My 64GB is almost full. I take a lot of pictures of my dog. I don't want to be forced to delete things, because I'll definitely go above 64GB over the course of a year.

Leaning towards 128 just to be safe. I have a lot of music I can cram in there and some games(which I may play...)

have about 20gb free in my 64 gb 5s

I originally chose 64 but ultimately changed my order to 128. I currently have 32 and am constantly running out of space. With the new camera I figure I'll be shooting a lot more video and also with new Photos on iCloud and the future of syncing everything with the new Photos app on the Mac I figure I'll need the extra space.

I ended up with 128 because that's the only thing I could get to take on the store app on the morning of the pre-order opening. I was trying two browsers, an iPhone and an iPad to place the order and, after nearly an hour and a half, that was the first thing that finally let me proceed with the order. I had intended on buying a 64.
Same exact thing happened to me. I have AT&T and only wanted the space gray. I logged into AT&T at 3:01 NYT and it was available, but said it would ship in 2-3 weeks so I figured I'd try Apple. Well I of course couldn't get into the Apple site and after getting tips from this Forum, I got in through the iPad app. That was around 3:20 am NYT and by then there were no 64 GBs available and so I went with the 128 model. I'm still trying to convince myself that I may need the extra space - lol! I have store pickup and will see if I can swap it for a 64, but I highly doubt it. One good thing - AT&T is running a special and I traded in an old iPhone 4 and got $200.
