Finally, since I agree the last few pages haven't had enough pictures, I'll attach one of my Christmas gifts this year. As I mentioned a few pages ago I've had my eye on a Seiko 5 as banger watch (doing some home repair, or working on the car and so on).

That's a nasty Rolex but a great Seiko (I'm wearing one now).

I will add that even given what I just said about Rolex, the blue/black GMT II has caught my eye. Can't really justify the price tag though.

There would be no shame I buying a Rolex. I couldn't morally afford one because I have better things to do with that cash, but it will remain a dream watch all the same. I would probably one day buy the Tudor Blackbay with rose gold snowflake hands as that would tick all the right boxes and I'd still be able to treat my family with the change.

The real shame about that Rolex that you have posted is that it is a GMT Master II. It is a watch which has an additional GMT hand which, when coupled with the standard numbered bezel allows the time in two additional timezones to be read. By replacing the numbers on the bezel with diamonds, the functionality of the watch is completely ruined.

The BLNR GMT II is a beautiful watch. I bought one last year and for travelling it is a joy to use. Being able to adjust the hour hand when you arrive at a different time zone while the second hand keeps moving is very satisfying. Will post a photo of it soon.

The Rolex GMT is another watch with a great history being, as it was, designed and made by Rolex at the request of Pan Am in the 1950s. They wanted a watch for their pilots who were travelling ever increasing distances in the glamorous new jet age of air travel which could tell time in multiple time zones. Fascinated as I am with air travel and in particular the golden era of the early jet age that is what lead me to ultimately buy my Rolex GMT, not because it was a Rolex but because of its history.

Terrible lighting, but here's a #womw pic I took last week for Twitter. Bernhardt Sea Shark on green nato. The best $250 I've ever spent. It's made by a small company based in NC. Awesome customer service too. The owner personally responds to email!

Yeah, that's part of the reason I thought the one I posted was so hideous. To be clear, the one I'm eyeing is the standard BLNR you mentioned, not the blinged out disaster I posted.

I really like the Panerai design but I wish they made them smaller as I'm not a fan of big watches and 40mm is about my limit.

Having said that, I can't afford one anyway so it's a moot point. Carry on Panerai :)

Criminy.....can't Citizen fit a few more letters, number, and tick marks on that face? Everyone has their own taste, but I can't stand the recent trend to make watchfaces as "busy" as possible....I want something that I can look at my wrist and see what time it is in less than 30 seconds :)

Agree. If you can't read the time off it in somewhere between one and two seconds it's not fit for purpose imho. Ironically a lot of these upper end watches are branded as being for extreme use, pilots, divers, people who need to know the time quickly when they look.

Picked up a Submariner "Hulk" this week, loving it so far!

Magnificent. An understated timeless classic. Enjoy!

I'm with you on that preference, way to busy. I'm not saying they aren't nice or don't work well for some but I can appreciate a simple design and don't think that will ever change. Heck I don't even care for digital faces, I'm not sure what it is about those but It's out for me.

I looked at the picture of the Citizen... and my head exploded.

Erlich Bachman from the show Silicon Valley has a green Rolex Sub! Probably got it after he sold Aviato. lol

I thought this pic was fitting for MacRumors...

I like that shirt!

Pam 422, my favorite watch, on some old ammo leather.

On the topic of busy dials; I used to love watches that had a lot on the face. I gradually realized, I didn't use anything additional on the watch aside from the time and date. That, and the fact that you can't tell the time at a quick glance on some of them. I've moved more towards the plain faces as I've gotten older. Of course, aging eyes may have something to do with this as well. :D

Wow, that is a beauty!
