A Kenetic that Seiko got right out the box, deadly accurate as in seconds per year, very close to HQ quartz timekeeping.

Another Seiko Sportura here - this one's the GPS / Solar version. Apparently accurate to 1 second every 100,000 years! 🤣 I have no idea why it looks so big in the pic, sits on my wrist just fine.

Solar & GPS being the more sensible solution...LOL

Casio's G-Shock MTG-G1000RG one of few ever produced another driven by solar & GPS....

Looks big as it is big and comes with some serious heft...:)

I can't tell exactly. But, what is the area on the left side for?

Battery charge status; hours, days, weeks & month. Seiko poured a ton of money into the development of Kinetic. While it made sense in the day, Kenetic was rapidly superseded by solar which is obviously the far simpler solution.

Think Seiko put so many resources into Kinetic they had no other option than to bring it to market. Resulting in a solution to a question that no one ever asked or needed. Seiko went on to shoot themselves in the foot by stating Kinetic is a watch that never needs a battery change. Yeah, early Kinetic chronographs can be easily into four figures to replace the capacitor due to the complexity of the movement.

My Kinetic Sportura is a simpler affair and shows little to no sign of battery wear. It's within my own skillset to replace the capacitor, but until I see any degradation I'll leave it be. ironically, Kinetic's now have the WOW factor back as they are very few and far between...

Nothing special, but my Diesel watch…

PS: I have a few Invicta watches that I haven’t worn in ages; batteries dead on each one 😳.
I need to look into having batteries replaced in a few watches of mine. Then again, maybe I simply choose the main one that I know I’ll wear regularly, and get the battery for that one replaced…

This is one of my favorite watches. I remember buying a similar model as a child from Mervyn’s with my saved up allowance money from cutting grass in the neighborhood. It was this style of calculator watch and a Swatch watch with the double twisted up guards that were my favorites as a kid
