It arrived today..it’s not expensive but it fits my personality

The "Murph"! Truly such a beautiful watch. Glad it got its due in the spotlight with Interstellar.

Does yours have the morse code engraving on the seconds hand?

It does but you have to catch it at the right angle. What I like about is it’s big enough to be legible and and it’s simple, it’s a watch that does one thing.

Finally saved up enough to purchase one of my dream watches, a Smiths PRS-25. It, along with the Rolex explorer, were the two timepieces to accompany the people who first climbed Mount Everest.

This was a gift to myself for graduating college / getting my first full time job. I wear it on Sundays and days off when I don't have to wear my AW. This specific model is called the "silver jubilee" because of it's limited edition gilt dial, and silver jubilee bracelet. Unknown to me when I got it, there will only be 500 of them made.

Just FYI, but the Silver Jubilee model isn't a gilt dial (Smiths does make a Gilt dial version, though). It's actually an aventurine dial - which is way cooler than as standard gilt dial (a gilt dial is just a black dial with gold hands/markers).

They did a great job on this. Gorgeous.

That thought has crossed my mind a few times...
Actually, when it was gone I noticed how all the notifications and activity rings had stressed me out unconsciously. I noticed how I tried to „wake“ my Omega and check notifications and stuff 😬 only real downside is that my seamaster does not have a date.. enough reason to be in the market for another Classic Watch 😎

I need to earn the type of money that many of you watch owners are owning because some of those watches are in the thousands of $$$ price range.

This is my Junghans Mega Solar Titanium… I consider it the ultimate watch because it’s solar powered and synchronised to atomic clocks via radio. It’s titanium with sapphire quartz in front, so it’s pretty near indestructible and keeps going forever, keeping accurate time. I also like the minimalist aesthetic, which is typical of Junghans timepieces. It was a steal at £400.

Got rid of my Apple Watch ;)
How long ago? Sometimes I have to go a few month down the road before I notice I miss something.

Been thinking about it myself, I'm mostly using my AW as a regular watch these days. I still like the breathe-, stand up reminders and the weather for the day, but that's about it.

I've used no watch at all a long, long time before going with a AW. And as much as I like the fancy stuff like Rolex, especially the iced outs, I think they're more a financial investment than for wearing. So I have been thinking about something like the Movado Heritage, I'm just not convinced yet.

With your multiple mechanical watches, how often do you switch from one to another?
Currently, I try to wear a different one every day. Thus making sure to use the life of the battery of each watch, as best I can.

Lately, I just feel that the Apple Watch doesn't 'fit in', with my mechanical watches. Probably should have thought about that much, much earlier...

Well it depends. At the moment I own two mechanical watches apart from the Apple Watch. Ich have no real „routine“, simply switch according to what fits my outfit. At the moment the omega gets the most wrist time. Will wait out the Christmas surge an then start looking for another Watch

Just because, or no need for notifications anymore?
I only ever used it for notifications while I was at work (and to see the time!), so I didn't need it so much after retirement. And then shortly after I retired it quit working for some reason, so I tossed it in a desk drawer. I actually don't wear my mechanical watches all that often either.

You really don't! I have 4 watches (2 Mechanical + 2 Digital) that collectively cost under ~$250 and they are all quality timepieces.

If you are actually interested in getting into watches, let me know what your budget is and what kind of watches you like. I'm sure that me and some others in this thread would be happy to help you out with quality recommendations that are worth your time, money & attention ?

Yep, you don’t have to spend big money to get a quality mechanical watch. There are huge communities online for Seiko dive watches and SARBS that are mostly under £500. I own a few mechanical watches and my favourites are Seiko’s. I don’t wear them as often as I should these days but no Apple Watch will ever compete with them in terms of style.

Curious, for those that wear both mechanical watches and other smartwatches, how often do you switch between the two?

I wear my S7 SS 41mm AW when at work, except for Sundays. I work a retail job so I'm typically working Sunday, and I try to dress nice on that day of the week, so I wear my mechanical then. That way, my AW can absorb some of the wear and tear of daily life, and most of my mech watches stay in good condition. Also wear the mechanicals on my days off and holidays (again with the stipulation of unless I'm doing something I know I could damage them doing).

I am leaning towards Seiko lately. Just ordered SPB143 and sailcloth grey strap with omega deployant clasp to get similar setting as attached image (image from Google search).

It is so hard to follow one watch rule as currently on Nomos Metro datum. Both can be suitable for different setting, I hope.
Seiko will be surely for daily tool watch with anti-scratch coating.
