Never seen one before but that piqued my curiosity. Just been on their website and could see only two Speidel watches listed, which strikes me as being rather strange. They claim to be in existance for over 100 years.
The same site heavily promotes Seiko. Amazon however show many different Speidel watches. Go figure.
Yours appears to be particularly sturdy in steel and is in remarkeble condition for a 1970's timepiece. So many early digital LED watches have long lost their displays, either due to natural ageing of the LED or LCD boards or accelerated death by leaking batteries.
Speidel was big in the 50's-70's for their watch bands - especially the "twist-o-flex". (I hated that band because it ripped hairs and kept going loose)

In the 70's they made bands for Seiko and Casio, then tried digital watches themselves. When digital watches got far cheaper in the late 70's, there wasn't enough money to be made from them, so they went back to bands.

I think that one style of LED and LCD watch they made in 1976 was their peak watch - very well made. (of couse they cost $225 US in 1976 dollars)

I got these watches "New Old Stock" a few years ago, which is why they're in such good condition.

Picked up a cheap parachute style nylon band off of Aliexpress. I think it goes great with my Seiko Speedtimer.

Torn on whether the same strap with a white stripe would have been better, or tackier?

Totally agree, some of my favorites, among those I own, are the simple designs from the 80s and 90s, nowadays it has to be flashy and big.

I tried on a Mark XX IWC and it looks amazing and very very discrete, a pity the price tag makes no sense for such a watch...

Here’s my everyday wear. It’s a Polo Association men’s watch. Nothing fancy - made in PRC, Japanese movement, stainless steel etc. I’ve had it for oh probably 15 years now and all the movements just keeps ticking along assuming I change the battery every couple of years :) IMG_2081.jpeg

I have a nice Swiss Army watch too that is in pieces as it broke. I really liked that watch (was a gift from my wife) and hope to get it restored at some point with a new SA movement.

I got the call for one of those and I just wasn't ready to do it financially. sucks
I truly appreciate the craftsmanship and quality that goes into a watch like this but cannot justify the $$. I would rather put that money into the market, like Blue chips or fixed annuity etc. If I ever get rich enough to where my wealth generation grossly outweighed my expenditures, I could see myself maybe dropping 7-10k for something similar but that means I’d have to buy three of them as heirloom pieces for my three boys so I’d be in it 30k lol.
