This thread is so full of apple fanboys it's quite sad.

iPhone 4S is such a minor improvement and unless you get a good upgrade you must have money to burn to upgrade. It is a very minor upgrade. The camera is an improvement yes, but it's a smartphone, it's not as good as a standard camera. The voice assistant is good, but will people use it? I'm not convinced if this will take off yet or not. Not a big upgrade, as i won't want to be talking to my iphone in public etc etc. Also it's faster? Yes my iPhone 4 is fast enough for now. It's not a 3G which was horribly slow and made me think iPhone 4 was a essential upgrade just for that. Seriously people need to grow a brain if they think iPhone 4 S is that much of a upgrade. If you have the money go for it though by all means. If you're upgrading form a 3G or 3GS or other smartphone then it's a good purchase, but i am confident the iPhone 5 will be the real deal just as what the iPhone 4's upgrade was compared to the 3GS, so i will wait for that as the iPhone 4 does everyone i need to for now

of ordering the 4s to upgrade from their regular iphone 4 and didnt tell anyone out of embarassment. talk about a bittersweet arrival. Are you going to ogle in your mind about how you are holding a new processor? I would rather ogle the extra cash in my pocket that im going to party with this weekend.

I know what you mean actually. Especially in this current economic evironment. I may be lucky enough to be able to afford the latest gadget, but I know some of my friends are living on the breadline currently and i'd feel a bit guilty sporting the latest gadget with no issue to cost, especially when my current phone is working perfectly well.

Would it stop me getting one, no of course not. But I know what you mean buddy and I think it's unfair so many people have disliked your original post.

Exactly, for the amount of people who want the new phone on day one (me, you and many others) there are a similar amount of people who want 'an iPhone' and are happy to pay that price for the last model.

I'm not telling anyone I know that I upgraded from the 4 to the 4S because after the Keynote I erupted with anger over not getting my LTE and bigger screen and posted on FB how pissed I was and how much I disliked the 4S. And then I decided since I have an upgrade to blow and I can sell my 4 to pay for it, why not? So instead of looking like a hypocritical ******, I'm goin to just order another black one and keep it on the DL. Shhhh.....nobody has to knooooooow.

great thread I like hearing both sides - friend of mine brought up a really interesting point last night:

What is iOS 5 slows up the iPhone 4 a bit? that would be a really good tactic to get even people like me to upgrade. I guess we will find out today arrrrr

that said, that would be the ONLY reason I would see to really upgrade from a perfectly good ip4. thanks for all the responses.

1. im not really getting worked up its just such a ridiculous upgrade. a slightly better camera on my cell phone and a faster processor with a better benchmark so it can open my apps half a second faster? and some more storage space so I can store 20000 songs instead of 10,000. <---thats what is so great? I just fail to see why anyone with a ip4 would even think about upgrading.

2 The phone looks like it was upgraded in the cheapest, easiest manner possible. no creativity, no innovation, just standard speed/storage update. I don't call that creative when you already have a fast/mass storage device. problem I'm having is that its not like the 3g to 3gs upgrade where the 3g was SO SLOW. The current iPhone 4 is fast to the point where I couldn't see it being so much faster.

again, this argument is not to bash the 4s, I think its great and if you don't have an iPhone 4 you should run to get it, but if you DO have an iPhone 4, I think it looks pretty stupid and fan boyish to 'upgrade' to this.

Kind of strange how iPhone users all of a sudden are praising this type of upgrade. Spec upgrades and no real new functionality? Android users get this type of upgrade every other week and I don't even use an android phone.

I am going to sell my IP4 for $300, that more than covers the price of the IP4S. the Processor is faster which means the 23452356234 times during the day i use/check my phone, things will get done quicker. The graphics are 7x as good. I use my iphone as a gaming station.

Let's see, 3d games i play: Chaos & Order Online (minutre WoW clone), Doom, N.O.V.A. 2, Anomaly, Zombie Highway, Cordy, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, Monster Hunter Dynamic, NBA Jam, Real Racing 2, Aralon HD, Pocket RPG, Pocket Legends, Infinity Blade, IB2 (once it's released).

You're right, the 7X better gpu is USELESS to all people!

A better camera is ALWAYS appreciated by anyone who is social and likes to post things to facebook or just save to their pc.

The antenna has been UPGRADED. So for a GRUMPY PERSON like the OP who ONLY uses their iphone for TALK/EMAIL (get a blackberry dude!) it would benefit them to have the latest antenna technology of any phone.

Siri is amazing! When I remember i want to call the library on my way home to ask if they have my audio book in but i'm literally 60 seconds from passing them I don't have to:

open up google maps
click in search bar
click x to erase last search
type in library name while driving (ILLEGAL TO DO!!!)
click search
wait for search
click on arrow in library popup
click on phone number for library

instead i can:

hold home button
speak: call "xxxxxxxx" library

The 4S also has 64gb. Remember all those games i mentioned? 20gb themselves. Want music? Want to take 8mp pictures? Want to make 1080p videos? Want to download my entire Logos Bible collection? (1400 books or about 3gigs)

Yeah, no one would EVER use that much space!!!

The iphone 4S is also a world phone now so if you are on Verizon it's not completely useless over seas!!!

To the OP: Don't be mad bro!! Be happy with your phone! I love my iphone 4. I'm selling it and paying little money to get the iphone 4s. I'll use it for a solid 12 months and then use a family members upgrade (who doesn't care about new phones) and get the next iphone.

I know it's a waste to educate people that don't take the time to do any research on a topic and/or are just bitter/argumentative in day-to-day life but I hope someone reading this can understand the iphone 4s is a significant and purchase worthy upgrade from an iphone 4.

If the ip4 sucked right now I'd consider getting the S otherwise if I'm going to commit to having a "new" phone for another 2 years I'd like it feel completely brand new.

Hi cdm, where are you from? I've obviously been on your side in this thread previously but now that I've learned a little more, I'd have to say I'm siding with the upgraders (USA only), and here's why.

The mobile phone market works differently in the US. If you walk into a store and ask for a phone free call plan, monthly it'll cost you the same as getting an iPhone 4S call plan (apart from the upfront cost), it's not like the rest of the world.

As appears to be the case, the second hand sale price of the 4 pretty much matches the upfront cost of the 4S on one of these call plans.

Therefore, if you're American, it would be stupid not to upgrade.

However, I agree that if you live anywhere else, it's a complete waste of money.

Having learnt this, I'd love to see a breakdown of Sales figures for the 4 and 4S for Europe alone to see how it went down where there isn't a cartel.

Alright, so me selling my iPhone 4 entirely covered my 4S purchase, taxes and all. Why shouldn't I be stoked? Are you upset you can't get yearly upgrades? There's no way I'll be cancelling my account and my employer pays half my bill. Why shouldn't I be happy that I can purchase the latest and greatest iPhone with no additional cost to me? I have a 3gs and I have waited for this 5th gen iPhone. I was able to control my self to upgrade for an iPhone 4 because I know that this new one is something better, something special. I live a hardworking frugal life and to reward myself with an amazing iPhone 4s is worth all the wait.

I'm proud that I was able to buy myself an unbelievably nice shiny brand spankin' new iPhone 4s without asking or receiving money from the government, from anybody here in this forum, from anyone but my hardworking self.

Why are you limiting yourself to video games on Iphone?

I travel a lot from all across America and Asia and I need a phone that can do well for my business, in browsing the internet to be updated with the news around the world and to be connected with my mom, dad & younger sister who lives 10,000 miles away from me. My iPhone's personal hotspot capabilities are one of the most amazing things that I love about it. And now that 4s comes with DUAL CORE A5 CHIP, It's going to be better.

Talk about necessity, not just a child's play.
