The 4. I'm assuming most people aren't crazy enough to buy an unsubsidized cell phone.
Color me crazy but I have bought an unsubsidized phone before because the savings over time off contract was greater.

I don't know. Are calls better with the 5? That's all I use it for.

And occasionally hot spot. But that's not really important these days.

If calls aren't improved, the answer is yes.

Why am I posting this nonsense?

Happy with my 4S. I may even bypass 5S and wait for 6.
I'm really feeling the next model will be the 6.

If you look at the iPhone design evolution then the Original, 3G and 3GS all look similar, and the 4, 4S and 5 look similar. Releasing a 5S would be continuing an aging design into its 4th generation and in a market that's getting so competitive then I cant see Apple releasin just a spec upgrade. (Plus it can quickly distance themselves from the "scuff gate" negativity)

I've heard reports that call quality is better but I haven't noticed anything. Plus for tethering, you have 4G versus 3G.

I'll be honest with anyone who asks and say that if my 4s would have been larger capacity, I would have just kept it. Since I DID have an upgrade and DID want a larger capacity phone, I went for the 5. I do like:

-- The screen. Not sure how to describe it cause that's not my area but the colors seem "brighter" or something.
-- Screen size.
-- the 4g speed (when I get a good signal)
-- the reversible plug in. I always plug it in when it's dark and like that I don't have to worry about it now.

...but that's really about it. Everything else I like is just an OS thing which could be had on my old 4s.

I gave my wife my 4s and I tell her all the time that although I got the new one ;) the 4s is still a really really good device.

I can think of 5 million reasons that it will be called a 5s and will look very similar if not the same.

Maybe it's just me but I couldn't be any happier with my iPhone 5. I think it's the best designed, highest performing mobile device Apple has created. Along with iOS 6, it has totally changed my iPhone experience.

Plus I got the white one (and don't take keys to the back of an $800 mobile computer) so I haven't had any issues with "scuff gate".

I got an unsubsidized iPhone 5, but returned. Mainly because I needed more storage and think I'm leaving AT&T.

When I think about it though unless you absolutely need an unsubsidized phone, I don't really see how you can save. At least not with AT&T.

I still have a 4 so while I love the hardware of my 4 the 5 LOOKS amazing but I'm not in the mood for exchange headaches. I have seen WAY too many images of jacked 5s out if the box. I do want the camera upgrade and LTE badly. I am considering just doing the S schedule thing and possibly grabbing a 4S. If the smoke clears on this scuffgate thing I will get the 5 no question. Just sitting back and being patient.

Don't buy into all the hype on the internet. I have a black 5 and can't scratch it.

People don't come to the web to talk about how perfect things are -- they come to complain. Also, people who stick around here are usually enthusiasts and we are more likely to notice every little tiny detail.

Personally, I think they had a bad batch... workers had a bad day... etc. I don't think all iPhone 5s are like the worst-case-scenarios you see on here. Don't let it scare you away.

Calls from a cellphone are usually compressed and that HD voice doesn't even work in the US (from what I've read).

You need something like vonage or ooma for better call quality.

I may go back to the 4 (gave my son my 4S- can't take it back).

Issues with Wifi, Data chunks being DL out of nowhere while on WIFI, disconnecting from internet, and LTE switching to 4G constantly- rendering a safari page to hang.

I am finding it a downgrade while using it; and I am becoming frustrated.
Restored it twice, (set up as new- don't know why that's necessary as we have iCloud backup ).

Last resort is a Genius appt.

Want to keep it, but I have no time for fixing what worked before seamlessly.

I'm definitely passing. I want to see what they'll do with iOS 7. More importantly, I'm hoping Apple is listening:

"iOS 6 Leads to First-Ever Drop in Satisfaction"
http://www.phonearena.com/news/iOS-6-leads-to-first-ever-drop-in-device-satisfaction_id34888

Small ripple only, no doubt.

And this, from a prominent pro-Apple website:
"The iPhone 5 Is Incredible, But iOS 6 Is Holding It Back"
http://www.cultofmac.com/192496/the-iphone-5-is-incredible-but-ios-6-is-holding-it-back-opinion/

And for the first time ever, Josh Topolsky in his Verge review of the iPhone 5 goes at length to point out the shortcomings of iOS 6 in the software section.

I think a shift is happening. We might see some major improvements come iOS 7.

If they think iOS7 a year out is going to satisfy users that's a egotistical and embellishing way to think (apple). I'll look at other options- others will too.

I may be in the ecosystem deeply; but I can and will switch- Function over form.

Returned my 5 because the earpiece was making the most annoying hiss and didn't feel like playing the Genius Bar swap game.

Plus I missed 4S for jailbreak, and I actually appreciate all its power in a compressed package (though not thinner) after using the 5 for an extended weekend.

Everything is amazing to me though after selling my 4S in the middle of the summer, trying a Nexus, and then staying on a backup jailbroken 3GS for two months.

Might get one again, but man oh man do I miss jailbreak.

I hope the wait isn't months like the 4S (that's why I stuck with the 4 for a good while happily, stock 4S wasn't advantageous to me)

i'm glad you said this. I thought the same, but didn't want to post it and deal with the negative responses. I have to admit, I thought the 5 would be redesigned (but, it still does look like a 4/4S). From my vantage, there seems to be a lot more negative feedback from the media, bloggers, and owners (if the 5 is worth the upgrade) than when the 4 and 4S were released. I'm sure Apple is aware of this, but the big question is if they will do anything to wow us all next year.

Not to mention it is the case with iPod touch and iPad as well.

I think we might finally see the liquid metal in the iPhone 6! Here's hoping..
