I the iP5 is a great device.. but I didn't feel the urge to dump my perfect 4S for it..just yet!! Sure, the new iPhone is faster than the 4S, as it should be!, but not compelling enough to warrant a device change!

The 3GS to iP4 upgrade was, to me and to date, the biggest leap in tech. in the iPhone line up!

I use the 4S on Sprint, so I'm used to stone age data speeds... the iPhone 5 wouldn't do much for me anyway!

The one reason to upgrade over all others for me... LTE. That is the difference between the two. I'd never want to go back to 3G speeds ever again.

If the 5 wasn't LTE, I'd have bought a Samsung to get it.

4S is just fine and I have no regrets or feelings of wanting the 5. Looking forward to the 5S, but if the features aren't too awesome, I might wait even longer. But I think being on an S cycle is a good thing. Works out the bugs.

To each his own but personally I'd rather be eligible for an upgrade for the 6 than the 5s. Couldn't be happier with the 5. Better in every way imaginable. :D And yes the maps will get ironed out. Plus there's tons of 3rd party map apps if it is that big of an issue.

I upgraded from a 32gb iphone 4 and the difference in speeds is night and day. Perhaps it was because my iphone 4 was jailbroken but it had gotten to the point where just opening any kind of app had a noticeable amount of lag. On the iphone 5, everything just happens instantly. The 2-3 sec difference in launching apps may sound not that much but having everything open and react instantly just makes the user experience so much better.

Loading up websites is lightening fast compared to the iphone 4 and that is probably due to the faster cpu, more ram, and LTE connection.

So far I haven't experienced any of the iphone 5 issues that were reported *knock on wood* I haven't used the iphone 4s yet but I am definitely happy that I finally upgraded to the iphone 5 and not to mention that sleek black slate look...

I can't wait to see the posts next year about upgrading.. How everyone that bought the iphone 5 on launch day should be able to upgrade.

I currently have a 4s and i'm waiting for the next one.
Same with me. I actually wanted to get an iPhone 5, but flaws made me not to buy it. Instead yesterday I bought 4S 32GB unlocked and brand new for 100$ less than iPhone 5 16GB. Those scuffs, scratches, dents, camera rattling more than on previous iPhones, freaked me out. Besides, iPhone 4S is still a great phone. So no envy at all that I didn't get iPhone 5. I actually feel sorry for those who spent their hard earned money on product defective out of box... Now they have to deal with replacements, and prey next units won't be flawed...

The speed difference really is the biggest thing to happen to iPhone. It's 30x faster in many cases.

I'm very satisfied with my iPhone 5. Out of the box I wasn't blown away, but the LTE is a huge improvement. You have to watch out with the LTE though, I went through 1.4GB of data on my 1GB plan in a few hours :(

Still love my 4S but slightly jelly at the fact that my whole area is saturated with LTE and that I can't use it  Don't really need it as my HSPA+ speeds are 5-6 Mb/s but still...

i love all apple products but if money wasnt a issue i would buy one every year but in this case i have other things to pay for i will be keeping my 4s

Well done, you are one of the few people being honest about why they are not getting a 5 (and there is nothing wrong with finances preventing an upgrade, we are after all in a recession).

The people who make me laugh are the ones throwing up lists of reasons, like
Nicks/Scuffs
WiFi issues
Screen issues
Maps
NO SIM issues
distortion on keyboard

Most are just BS, other than the odd person with QC scuffs (which Apple would swap out anyway).

I still stand by my assumption that at least 95% of 4 and 4s users rubbishing or belittling the 5 would stampede to Apple if offered a straight swap of a 5 for their 4 or 4s. It's all about the cost...

To be fair, all of these issues would probably be fixed by the time they're due for an upgrade.

You must be joking - 5 is not more expensive than 4 or 4s were, so cost is not important. What is important - is the reasons why people pay this cost. If they paid same price for 4s and not ready to pay for 5, it means that it is not worth for them to do that, but was worth in case of 4/4s.
In my opinion 5 feels too light & cheap in my hand, compared to 4s. Almost as cheap feeling as samsung galaxy s3, and is less durable than 4s- easily scratches.
I will wait until apple will come up with something better- or at least as good as 4/4s. I could pay higher price if they would make use of better materials than aluminium. Hope that Apple will do that eventually, because Alu is good for frying pans, but not for quality piece that I use everyday. But that is my opinion - others may be happy with plastic, alu or other cheap crap.
Apple likes soft metal? Copper is fine for me, would buy copper 5 just for color.

I'm actually glad that I sat out the first wave. I probably won't get my iPhone 5 until Google releases the next Nexus phone.

I WAS happy I did not get one...

I thought that was not such a big deal really, my 4S had all the bells and whistles of iOS 6anyway. The pictures and movies looked good, but nothing to become crazy about, I could well hold back until my finances would allow the upgrade.
Then I got to hold an iPhone 5 in my hand, played 3 minutes with it - then I joined the iPhone 5 hipster crowd. Ordered.

Honestly, I really am glad I did not buy a 5. It's not because I don't like apple, I have had every iphone before, I've had 2 iPads, I am typing on a mac, I love apple :D

I just really didnt think the price for me, which would have been $800 was worth the issues that I could have had with it. If it was from a certain factory, then the paint might be bad. Now the halo purple thing with the camera. It's just kinda crazy. I really think when i can buy one with an upgrade, it will be the first thing I do. BUT until it's worth $800 will I actually pay almost a grand for a phone, that I could break the next day. :(

but If i would have had an upgrade, I would have pre ordered the 5 just the same as everyone else.

Was ready to jump on the iPhone bandwagon this time, but after reading about ScratchGate and the WiFi problems, decided to stay with my Nokia N9. Maybe next time with the iPhone5S.

Sorry but I bought an iphone 5 and I see no flaws with it. I bought the black and everything works great, no rattle, no scuffs or marks, my wifi works great haven't seen any lag what so ever....am I saying that all phones are perfect, of course not, that is what you get with mass production, it happens. If you don't want to buy an iphone 5 that is your prerogative, no one is forcing you to buy it, but I don't sit here and read all these issues people are having and assume all iphones are defective just because a couple people in a forum have had issues. Yes I spent my hard earned money on an iphone but it is perfect, sorry but I have to disagree with you! If it wasn't perfect yes apple would definitely hear from me. There is no reason to spend your hard earned money on something that is broken I completely agree with that but Apple is a multi-billion dollar company and there is a reason for that. They hold their standards pretty high and so should you. If you have issues with your iphone, take it to apple and they will fix it or give you a new one. If you are still unsatisfied, return it. You can't please everyone.

Had the phone two days. Nicks on my phone, SIM Error message. The rest I read about. Went back. Look over the forum to see what many are now seeing as well...

That's beauty of being human. I'm not a robot and not having to settle for sloppy work or none functioning parts of the phone. Others may wish to accept this, but I don't. I can send a clear voice to Apple. Whether they care to listen is another story ;)

I didn't even know there were THAT many problems wow.
