I'm skipping this generation. The iPhone 5 is an all-around disappointment for myself and others who were expecting something other than "more of the same". I'm suffering from iBoredom with my iPhone. Nothing has really changed in the last six years with regard to how we humans interface with the phone. The app grid gets very old after a few generations and notifications still suck.

My contract is up in May 2013, at which time I will be taking a serious look at Android and Windows 8 products. I need a change, and I also need a phone that is more useful from a business standpoint. Lighter-thinner-faster is the track that Apple is on, which is great for those who want to upgrade, but I'm looking for a deeper change. The iPhone experience for me is fun and simple, but I'm longing for a platform that is more flexible, extensible, and that will better support my real estate business.

Did you actually have a phone with these issues or are you just listening to everyone else complain. I have a black 5 and I don't have any of these issues. Even the Maps seem good to me. I used the turn by turn yesterday and it got me right to where I was going. It even told me what turns to make after I got into the parking lot.

Had the phone two days. Nicks on my phone, SIM Error message. The rest I read about. Went back. Look over the forum to see what many are now seeing as well...

Map issues. Well documented

That's beauty of being human. I'm not a robot and not having to settle for sloppy work or none functioning parts of the phone. Others may wish to accept this, but I don't. I can send a clear voice to Apple. Whether they care to listen is another story ;)

fifteen links.

Let's assume that 100 phones are experiencing each one of the issues described above. That is... let's pretend that 100 phones have scuffing, 100 have speaker issues, 100 have sim card issues, etc... so

15 x 100 = 1500

Now, just for kicks, let's double that number... 3,000

so using one of my favorite elementary school concepts of cross multiplying to solve for X and find a percent...

3,000
------
5,000,000

equals

X
--------
100

3000 X 100 = 300,000

300,000/5,000,000 = 0.06%

So 0.06% of iphone 5's sold in the first 3 days

I know I know, the math is horrible, lots of assumptions, they haven't all been shipped, etc. But it DOES kinda help put things into perspective doesn't it? I mean... even if you DOUBLED the percent calculated above, you're still under 1.5% of iphones with these defects.

it may be called the "world wide web" but the world is much wider than the web. In fact, the web is quite a small window to look through when judging things.

just received my 5 today, i think its not a huge deal if you have 4s or even the 4. only upgrade im glad it included is LTE, which it should have had it in the 4s.

i wouldnt say im "happy" not to have gotten an iphone 5, but im also not gagging to get one. i got my 4S 6 months ago its in excellent shape and i cannot find anything in the IP 5 that would make me want to upgrade; aside from the "new" factor but i can live with that.

Was underwhelmed with the 5 at first but now can't bear to be parted from it. A day's use and you can understand the love...

I sort of am, Just usually wait until the "S" generations anyway due to contract timing.
but overall not to much envy.

I don't know who all is happy they didn't get one but I can tell you who's trying to fool themselves into believing they're happy they didn't get one or justify their decision to not get one... ;)

hey tbayrgs, a little off topic here, but I'm from Tampa as well, have you been able to get an iphone 5? I checked the apple store, att stores, best buys, radio shacks all within like a 20-30 mile radius and they are all sold out...if you got one, how did you get yours if you don't mind me asking...

Preorder.

My iPhone 4 randomly restarts when swapping applications, takes 2-3 secs to process HDR pictures, and has noticable lag when scrolling up and down.

If these aren't present in the iPhone 5, then I'll be a happy camper. :D

I didn't...because I couldn't...Wife said "NO--a freakin' waste of money". So here I will sit watching (reading) others rant and rave (good and bad) and count the days until my contract comes due...then I will be primed for the New iPhone...or iPhone 5S...or iPhone 6. ~ The Life of a Middle-Aged Fanboy

That is sad. Who wears the pants in your house? Tell her to shut up and go get what you want....geezzz.

I'm not even married and I know that there are compromises that need to be made in order to stay married. You can't just tell your wife/hubby that you are going to buy something regardless of what they think you should do.

I dont understand, this CLEARLY asked "Who is glad they DIDNT get a 5" and there are multiple 5 owners in here saying "Im so glad I upgraded" Are you guys blind or..there are several topics where you can discuss your happiness, this one isn't it.

Anyways, I dont have a upgrade until next fall, so I opted not to upgrade because it didnt seem worthy of the process. Im not happy that I dont have one, but I am more than happy with my 4S for the next year. And when I get the 5S I'm definitely keeping the 4S. Last iPhone with 30 pin connector and 3.5" screen.

And I'll say it again and again to those that keep saying that the 5 is 10X better than the 4S. Simply put, its not. Of course it's an upgrade, it's a newer phone, it has a bigger screen and LTE, it better be an upgrade. But honestly the 4S is enough of a beast for me to keep her for 2 years. I'm starting to see iPhone 5's everywhere, and I'm honestly not envious. They look nice, but I'm not the sort of person that needs the newest iPhone to keep up with everyone, I sort of feel bad for anyone who feels that way.

Plus in cases from a few feet away, the 5 looks like a 4/4S anyway :p

The difference between my 4 and the 5 isn't a $300 difference. (cost of a 32gig)
