They'll get it at a later date though. You swiped a preorder from someone and the opportunity to get it at launch.

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple copy the airlines' practice of deliberately overbooking in anticipation of no-shows.

It seems a lot of iDevice ordering is driven by a trigger-happy 'rush' followed by second-thoughts. That, and I remember a lot of posts last year about folks double-ordering with the intent of canceling whichever one was last to deliver.

I'm paying $300 for another row of icons. This is just crazy.
But you're not just paying for an extra row. You're getting LTE, and of course a faster processor.

For me, I've held off on the 4s, so I'll get all the features in the 4S, LTE, longer screen and the other features. That's enough to take the plunge.

Just about to go on holiday so no money for the moment but as soon as pay day hits I shall be ordering

LTE don't work yet in the USA only spoty maybe when iPhone 8 will be out.
and the ATT LTE don't work over sea
so really 4"? it not they add one more row
botom line for me stay with my unlocked 4S

I'm perfectly happy with my 64GB 4S and won't be upgrading to the 5 (which will be the first time I haven't bought the latest iPhone). There's nothing wrong with the 5, but by the same token, I'm 100% happy with my 4S and just don't see the need to change it at the moment.

I was tempted at midnight, but decided I'd wait a couple of months. The 4s already does more than I need anyways.

really with music searches or changing playlist the 4S can get glicky..

LTE certainly does work in the USA. Pull 40mbps on the iPad around town anywhere I would normally be during the week, running errands, brunch, etc.

Road trip, no, but that's so rare, meh.

I'm on a used iPhone 4 myself and could justify moving up to the 5, but I'm still on the fence and will wait (maybe for a jailbreak). The wife said she wants my 4 if I upgrade, so that may play a part too...

All this ragging on Apple for coasting is fine, but we now know where they're going (or not going) with the iPhone, so we can either like it or lump it. Apple's ways are set.

We at least have clarity now. They're not going to drastically change the look of the phone, they're not going 'big' with the screen and they're not going to change the look of the OS.

No sense wasting any more time obsessing about it.

Meh.. nothing special about this IP5... More than likely the IP5S will be the same design with boosted specs... I think I'll wait for IP6 for a totally new design, not an updated or refreshed design change. At a glance most people won't be able to tell much difference between the two phones..

I'm happy with my 4S. It'll get 95% of the features of the iPhone 5 with iOS 6 (except for the hardware improvements) and it's still a very fast phone. It does what I need it to do and it does it well.

My AT&T contract also doesn't end until July 20, 2013.

I will seriously consider upgrading when the 7th generation iPhone comes out next year.

I'll be waiting till October when I can get up to an Apple store and check it out in person. I'm also hoping by that time we will have heard something official about the rumored ipad mini since a small tablet is more of what I'm interested in right now.

I am still on the fence. I have until October 7, when upgrade is available, to get the iPhone. It seems like every hour I go back and forth from the SIII to the iPhone 5. We will see in about a month what I feel like.
Good luck to all those that pre-ordered.

I don't have any choice but to hold out since my eligible upgrade date is 10-07-12. I can wait the 2 weeks my only concern is if iphone 5 sells out i'll be on back order with everyone else that has the iphone 4. It's to bad Verizon didn't do early upgrades for iphone 5.

I am for a month or so. Also, the adapter is NOT included with the iPhone 5. Apple made a mistake. It is not included.

I will never pre order a device that I haven't tried out. When it comes out I will try it in the store and then I might buy it. To be honest though, the average user will not notice a difference going from a iPhone 4/4s compared to the 5. The screen is bigger yes, but IOS is so smooth that the speed increase cannot be that noticeable.

If you think the 5 is just another row of icons, clearly you don't have LTE in your area. LTE wipes 3G's butt. If the phone DIDN'T have a larger screen, but it had LTE, I'd still be ordering.

I have no idea what some people think should have been in the phone.

NFC? For real? How many places can you actually use NFC? How dramatic a difference in user experience would it be? You know what's dramatic? LTE. In case you haven't noticed, Apple doesn't add cutting edge features for the sake of having cutting edge features, until the kinks are worked out. They opted out of Flash. Guess who else eventually opted out of mobile Flash? Adobe. NFC may mature and become ubiquitous, and no doubt Apple will take it seriously if that happens. But it's still a young technology and it could go either way. You think you have to have it because you read about it on a blog. But if you stop and consider the reality (low implementation in the real world, security concerns, etc), it's like giving a teenager a Ferrari. Of course they want it. But they're not ready for it.

A faster chip? Is the 4S so deathly slow now? No. Early user reports show that the chip in the 5 is noticeably, but not dramatically, faster. But it's spec'd as twice as fast as the 4S. Were you hoping for a chip that is 5x as fast as last year? When's the last time you saw ANY chip make that kind of speed jump in one generation of a product? If you were hoping for a 5X chip, your expectations are ridiculous.

A wider screen? Well, maybe it would have been nice, but it would mean reduced usability for many, especially for one handed use by those with normal to smaller sized hands, and reduced pocketability. Apple weighed it out and decided to hold off on a wider screen, perhaps indefinitely, to avoid the ergonomic sacrifice that even some Galaxy owners will admit to.
