I’m not upgrading from my series 4 for the simple fact that Apple withheld AOD because the series 5 basically has nothing else going for it.

I finally decided to upgrade my SG aluminum S4 to an S5 for the always on display. Admittedly, I wish there were more new features to justify the purchase, so much so that I briefly considered getting the new watch in SBSS just so it would be more unique, but honestly, the aluminum watches have held up very well for me. Also, I always get Applecare just in case the screen does get scratched. My SO was stainless, and while I did like it, when I got an aluminum S3, I liked it just as much and appreciated the lower cost. I then got an aluminum S4 and was just as pleased. If I was less inclined to upgrade so often, a stainless or titanium body might be appreciated, but as it stands, I’m more intrigued with the new features each year.
Went from an S4 alum gps to S5 alum gps + cellular. It's been worth it so far, especially if you resell your S4. Next year I'll just sell the S5 for the hopefully even bigger improvements but so far I'm satisfied with the battery life with AOD and full brightness.
