I own an iPhone 4, my first. I fell in love with the iPhone while waiting in line for 10 hours with my daughter on release day. We got to know the people in line with us so well, that they promised to name their first born after us!;)

They also did a very good sales job on the phone, and it got me to thinking, and a month later I bought one for myself.

In retrospect I wish I would have upgraded in the fall to the 5, and then sold my 4. I probably would have made a little money. But I'm almost certain I will upgrade to the 5s this fall, still sell my 4, but of course the price will have dropped by then, and then renew every two years. I think if I do that I will essentially have a free phone.

I currently have the 5 and it's getting very worn out. 260+ charge cycles, scratches everywhere, 82% battery health (I've lost a good 1-2 hours of use), and the screen is beginning to come loose at the bottom. I'm seriously considering buying the HTC One. I'll probably go look at one tonight at the AT&T store as the local Best Buy didn't have a working display model. If I do end up buying it, it will be my first non-Apple phone since 2009. Does anyone have any experience with the One? Is it a reasonable upgrade, or should I wait for the 5S?

I'm confused by your question. Since the 5s will most likely be out in a few months, why wouldn't you just wait for it? Is there something about the HTC One that you think trumps the iPhone? Just curious.

IPhone 5 user here. I'll be sitting this one out unless there is a compelling enough reason to use my early upgrade with AT&T.

Sent from my iPhone 5 using Tapatalk 2.

AT&T is currently offering 50% off of all smart phones, and I am eligible for an upgrade. I really like the One, as do many reviewers. If the 5S is going to retain the same form factor and just add a performance bump and a fingerprint sensor, I'd rather go buy a One now. I like my iPhone 5, I'm just not captivated with the device like I was with my iPhone 4 3 years ago. My 5 is also starting to feel its age and use.

I have a 4S that I recently traded with someone for my 4 32GB (the speed was definitely worth the reduction in storage)

The 5 isn't compelling enough... the 5S probably won't be either.

I've been playing around with the Nexus 4 for awhile... and I really appreciate the screen size, both height and width.

I have smaller than average sized hands, so the whole "one handed operation with Nexus 4 is harder" is baloney.

We'll see what happens with the next Nexus 4 iteration, and go from there. As invested as I am with iOS, I think the switch for me will be easy.

I'll get it at launch. Currently have Droid Razr and want to go back to Apple.

Will have to see when it is released. Currently have the 4S on Sprint.. my first move is to ditch Sprint immediately!

Then I'll see how the 5S compares to the Note3 :)

There's your answer. If you do go that route, please let me know how it works out.

I have a crappy Samsung Android Gingerbread Smartphone. It is slow, all the applications crash, and now texting is a pain in the butt. So I can't wait to switch to iOS when it comes to phones... Been waiting for a year now and should have the funds this fall!

Gingerbread (2010 OS) is your main problem.

Oh yes... I know. My grandmother has a Nexus 4.... And that thing is a beast.. I love the screen size and the speed of it. Not sure if it's as fast as a iPhone 5, but anything beats my phone right now...

Processor is faster on the Nexus 4... and also half the price of the iPhone 5.

I got the iPhone 3G when it first came out, and kept it for about 3+ years, before upgrading to the iPhone 4S.

My biggest issue with the 4S, is that I cheaped out and got the 16GB model. I have 117MB of free space, and can't find anything else on it I can offload to the MBP.

I am hoping there will be a 128GB iPhone 5S, if not, then I will definitely get the 64GB model without any questions.

The other thing I hope for is colors. I would love a blue iphone.

I have been looking at the Samsung S4 Active, but after 5 years of using iPhones, I am thinking it would be a massive headache to switch being that I have an Apple TV and a Macbook Pro, iTunes with 5 years of music, apps, photos, and data.

I had a feeling it was faster than the iPhone 5.. But my Ecosystem is with iOS [since I have an iPod Touch]. So that's why I'm getting an iPhone 5S [or whatever it shall be called.] ^ ^

To be honest I am really annoyed that Apple aren't doing something with the screen size, I hate the 5 screen ratio, considering when the 5S will be released, the 5 will be a year old, all they are doing is adding the 'S' status and bumping the power which is not really important.

How many people would love to see an iPhone 5 with the SGS4's amazing screen? - That's what I want, and if Apple don't deliver later this year, I will be jumping ship!

I bought my S4 last Friday and yesterday I found out about this 50% off deal. They told me (the rep on the phone) that it was only for NEW customers, not EXISTING customers, that want to upgrade their lines. It didn't sound right because I'm out of contract (I'm on a 14 day trial to see if I really like this S4) and I think I should be able to get the 50%.

If I can get the 50% off, I'll take this S4 back to the store and purchase it online. Did the rep lie to me?

Here’s why I won’t be upgrading to a newer iPhone any time soon. When I was on Android, they released so many new, better spec’d phones constantly. Different manufacturers releasing at different times. It was a pain to keep looking for the next best thing, it seemed like every month there it was. I hated that. I’ve had a contract plan for 10 years, and I’ve never made it to my upgrade point! I always sold and bought and even paid full price. I wanted a great phone that would hold its value, at least to me. That was part of my reason for going from the S3 to the IP5.
IP5 works well, it’s physical design is pretty good, and I don’t feel obsessive about features; it has what I want.
I’m sticking it out until it’s time for my upgrade with VZW. 2/2015. The case is coming off and I’m hunkering down.

I just bought an S4 last Friday. When Apple decides to compete and innovate again, instead of playing catchup, I'll be back. Hopefully the iPhone 6S (2015) will have a bigger (not just narrower) screen, default apps, and more integrated social networks, I'll be back.

So a bigger screen is innovating ?

Not sure at the moment. Currently have a Samsung S2 Lte. I'd like to see some impressive battery life improvements. If that doesn't happen I can surely wait another year I think. I'm still on the fence as to go back to the iPhone or not. My reasons to would be that all my devices and my Apple TV would be in harmony.
