Back the train up!!

Now just wait, "cheesepuff." First, I have been to South Beach Miami and have also been higher than Jeracho and I know that these phones do not come with two power cords. Why do you fail to mention that these "phone" still can not offer us unlimited battery life?

I upgraded from the 4 to 4s and love it!!! I even made a profit selling my 4 so why do people get their panties in a bunch when others upgrade?? I miss my jail brake, but the SPEED and Siri make up for it. And the camera is spectacular. Just because it looks the same, doesn't mean it is! I am very happy that I upgraded. And if the next phone comes out before I am eligible for the full upgrade, oh well - I actually made a profit selling my 4 that will cover the extra costs for my next upgrade :D Plus, I can sell the 4s. People who are concerned about losing upgrades don't think about the resale value.

^^This. I havent actually paid for an iPhone since I first bought my 3G almost 3 years ago. Free upgrades, every since.

I can't agree more with the OP. I am very satisfied with my move from the 4 to 4S. The data speeds are great and Everythig in iOS is buttery smooth. Where I notice the speeds the most is doing Tango video chats with my wife. She is always on wifi and I am on 3G. With the 4 it would always stutter and I would always get network quality warnings. Since getting the 4S and doing the video chats in the same exact location the video is always smooth and I have not gotten one network quality warning. I am very happy. I have AT&T so I benefit from the increased 3G speeds.

ONE BIG REASON I won't upgrade to 4S:

JAILBREAK.

Jailbreak is not available on the 4S and probably never will due to the A5 chip, which makes it real hard to jailbreak (just look at the iPad 2).

Besides, they are just so similar it would be stupid to spend 400 euros on changing. I can perfectly wait for iPhone 5 since the 4S is just the same.

IPHONE 4 with jailbreak is BETTER than IPHONE 4S with stock IOS.

You're fooling yourself.

I miss the Jailbreak from my iPhone 4. But it in no way is enough to consider it a better phone than the 4S.

Jailbreak functions and perks are nice to have, for when they're occasionally used, but the 4S speed and physical feel are superior, and that is appreciated ALL of the time.

What do you mean physical feel, physically their the same arent they?

I upgraded from the 4 to the 4S, but I really could have waited for the 5 next year. Why?

1. The 4S is faster, but uses 30% more battery compared to the 4 for the functions I use. I now need a Mophie Juice Pack to get me through the day.

2. Siri is still too "beta" to use reliably. Voice dialing while driving is particularly annoying. "Sorry, I can't do that right now" Really? I still try to use Siri, but switch it off when driving so I have reliable voice phone control.

3. Higher speed data -- Nice, or will be when AT$T upgrades the network in my area (Albany NY). We get about 1MB down in these parts. Hopefully our local network will be upgraded by the time IP5 arrives.

4. 8 MP camera - This is the only usable sweet 4S feature of the phone I do enjoy.

Overall, everything will be better next year - If you have the iPhone 4 WAIT!

Hopefully the update resolves battery issues, but more broadly, five generations into the iPhone, I think the pattern is now well established that there hasn't been much of a net improvement in battery life (that is, when usage of new features is taken into account, the battery drains as fast or faster than ever). It's too bad -- I'm not asking to be able to charge it every 2-3 days instead of daily, but I'd like it so that if I forget to charge it, it more reliably is still usable at least briefly the next morning.

It's really too bad that the system isn't designed to try to pipe calls through basic voice command when Siri can't make a connection. You shouldn't have to be turning it on and off, or in general futzing with this stuff while you're driving.

I have the 4 and my wife has the 4s. Aside from the Camera, Siri and loading web pages .5 seconds faster I see no difference. Her battery dies much faster than my phone too. She upgraded from a 3gs so it was worth it for her. I don't think upgrading from the 4 to 4s is worth it to me. I don't care for a better camera and Siri doesn't locate stuff in Canada so its useless to me. I am sure the 4s will be worth it when certain apps that need the duel core processor start getting published. But as of right now, for myself, there is no need to upgrade.

I haven't upgraded to a 4S from a 4, and I don't think I will. I think that a lot of users are in the same position that I am in. I don't get an upgrade until Feb of next year (Feb 29 to be precise), so by the time I'm eligible for an upgrade we'll be almost halfway through the predicted upgrade cycle (or even more than that if we go back to summer product refreshes). At that point, I might as well just wait for something better.

I get an upgrade every 12 months, luckily. If I had to wait until Feb I probably would wait. My wife can upgrade in a couple weeks and we plan on upgrading her as well.

I don't use the phone for internet directly. I use it as a hot-spot and I doubt that there would be much of an increase in speed of this. Definitely a huge increase on the phone itself, but as a Hot-spot (correct me if i'm wrong please)

Siri would be nice, but not enough to make an upgrade.

note: Just because there IS and upgrade doesn't always mean it's wise to do it. I almost always will upgrade, but this time i'm hesitant.

Now if I was doing Internet on the phone itself it would be essential to upgrade; I mean of the 'wait-in-line' type

I sold my 4 and paid the xtra for the 4s so glad i did. As op states plenty of advantages. Another point "haters will hate but everyone knows that its because there mad theY cant get the newest and best toys" and iff iphone 5 comes out nxt yr ill sell up an pay xtra again because thats why i work so hard so i can have the latest and greatest.

ATT already did away with the 12 month upgrades so you should probably double check your upgrade date just to make sure

My wife and I have overlapping accounts, so each year (well 3GS, 4 and now 4S) we extend a contract I get the new phone and she gets the prior one. Works well so far, though I'm trying to break myself of the habit of upgrading (maybe after we're on the 5 and 5s *grin*).

Of the upgrade, I agree with the OP's reason for the upgrade. Particularly the camera is impressive and it doesn't seem suffer from the green halo/splodge that the iPhone 4 got under certain light conditions. That is particularly important for me as I stopped trust the iPhone's camera.

I like Siri but he (I'd rather use the female voice but UK English gives me the man and I'm presuming that the choice of voice partly affects understanding of my voice - I haven't seen it noted either way yet) does struggle with my (quite mild) Northern Irish accent.

Things like "cold" become "call" or "called",
"Change the lightbulbs" became "Chintzy lightbulbs"
"Seems to" became "Svenja"
"Why not" became "Why no", "Wino", "lying no"

Other times it is spot on.

I agree with the OP on all counts.

Has anyone noticed how fast the 4S connects to Bluetooth devices? With the 4, when I would jump into my car and turn on my bluetooth, it would take several seconds to connect. With the iPhone 4S, the connection is made almost instantly.

I'm also getting between 4 to 6 Mbps download speeds. Amost double what I had the iPhone 4.

All around a nice boost in functionality with the iPhone 4S. Worth every penny.

The decision to upgrade all comes down to the features that you personally benefit from the most. I don't think you can make a blanket statement that all iPhone 4 users should make the upgrade.

I upgraded to a 4S from a 4 on launch day and I have since gone back to the 4. The main reason was battery. The 5.0.1 update actually made mine worse and I doubt any software update can fully resolve the problem. There must be a hardware aspect to this battery issue that a lot of people are experiencing.

The processor is not a big enough leap for it to be the main reason to upgrade from a 4. The difference is very slight for most apps.

If you are a heavy camera user, then the upgrade might be more attractive to you. There is a huge difference in picture quality between the two phones.

Siri is without question a revolutionary feature, but in its early stages, it may not be that great for most people. I used it the first few days, mostly for fun, but it's still too limited for me. I think people who spend a lot of time on the road will benefit the most from using Siri.

Also, I have a hard time living without a jailbreak and it could be a while before it comes to the 4S.

My advise is to think twice before upgrading. At least you have 30 days to decide for sure if the 4S is worth keeping, so don't get rid of your 4 immediately.

I went from 3GS to 4S, and for me, definitely worth the upgrade!
It feels really good, the buttons on the phone are perfect, they feel like high quality, all buttons.. And the overall feel of the phone gives the same feeling too, the weight is just perfect, it's not too light and it's not too heavy, it's just perfect, i like it with a little weight in it, feels more sturdier.

However, the biggest difference i noticed is the apps and games loading and being playable to the max! WOW!
And the camera, WOW! For a phone camera, it's great! I'm even more impressed by the video quality this thing shoots at!
I just wish there was an option to choose 720p or even 480p for those times you don't need the biggest quality, just to save space..

Like many have stated, I sold my iPhone 4 (AT&T) for nearly $200 which paid for my iPhone 4S (AT&T)...I couldn't be happier with the upgrade to the 4S:
MUCH better phone reception
Camera is outstanding for a phone (both still and video)
LOVE the speed increase of the A5
Siri is great for texting/emailing in the car
Definitely louder audio
Better bluetooth connections
Safari is MUCH faster to load
I got the white which I really like (had a black iPhone 4)
I have had absolutely NO DIFFERENCE in battery life from the iPhone 4 to the 4S. Exactly the same which is excellent.
