I think you missing the point.. It's the experience that matters. I'm sure an ASUS Transformer can do plenty compared to an iOS device. But a fluid experience across the board is what makes the iPad a great tablet.
MS put forth a huge effort in marketing the heck out of their mobile OS while recruiting devs, but still couldn't pull it off. I like Windows platform, but devs is not lining up to support their platform. They made a huge mistake w/ Windows RT. And now they are attempting to find a solution for a lack of app support... Only time will tell if it will help.
Apple hit a home run w/ the iPad.. And it's hard to sustain such a level. But, at this point I'd bet they wouldn't want to trade their position with any other company.
I agree about RT. THAT is the example of half-baked.
Now the Surfaces (Non RTs) are very fluid to me. The give you ALL the options. I think OSX will touch support on top of what it has now would be very fluid as well, with already good cross-platform support for iOS.
Hell, they have 90% of what I am talking about in the Macbook. Just drop the attached KB for a fully wireless BT one, add touch and make sure there is a good range of power. I even think the 1 port idea may be OK. Just put it on the bottom for docks.
Maybe YOU need that. I've done that (Windows on a tablet)... it's not good. OSX on a tablet would not fare any better.
How is that possible? It is a full computer with touch capability. Maybe the touch is less than stellar, but you can still use a mouse or stylus. A full laptop with touch added. How the hell can that NOT work? Now, it may not be worth the money, but.....
Plus, if Apple wants part of the "Pro" segment, THEY need it. Then again, sheep will be sheep.
Apple adding a couple inches and calling this a pro is insulting to customers. What is next, an iMac Pro? Apple watch Pro with a 4 inch screen?
