Keeping mine...worth more to me than "buyers"

I'm keeping mine as well. The new one won't be out for awhile yet anyway....

Hmm.... why are a bunch of people selling their ipads out of a sudden? is there a newer model coming soon?

There is a new model coming, but it also took most people a while to find out that the iPad is actually good for nothing except for playing a few games with touch interfaces. It's a device that serves only very few purposes and most people realized that they bought themselves an expensive toy for which they have no justification.

Not true. It's still growing in what it can do though and I'm finding more uses where I can leave my MacBook Pro safe at home.

Everyone who is questioning it. Think of it this way. The people buying second-hand are gaining more than the original owner. It's the original owners loss for just wanting a piece of tech they hardly use. :D

You are on my ignore list, but sometimes a quote shows up where I'm still confronted with your biased nonsense.

Why don't you seem to be able to accept the fact that there are many people that actually get very good (and justified) use out of their iPad? I don't see 14,8 million iPads on ebay being sold due to a lack of usage.

Sure there are people that bought it for the gadget factor and because they thought they needed it, but your usual generalizing comments are getting very old.

I agree with this, except that neither winni nor peterdevries are on my ignore list. ;)

That said, most people aren't selling their iPads. Even if you take all of the users on this site who are speculating and asking about when the best time to sell is, you're certainly not looking at "most" of the population. It may be a surprise to some, but the membership base on MR is barely a drop in the bucket when you consider the entire population; even if you limit it to countries where the iPad was made available.

FWIW, I'm not selling mine. I may get the new one if I don't find something else better to buy and hand this one over to a nephew or something. Or I may sell it and offset the cost of new. Having the best somehow started to feel less important to me one day. Then again I'm an old cow with adult responsibilities.

Yep... ~7 million iPads on eBay and craigslist now...
I know you're joking, but I actually went to eBay to see, and could not find even 1 iPad for sale, but several on craigslist. The going asking price seems to be about $50 or so off new and with a case thrown in. I don't expect many to sell at that price. $50 is not worth the hassle and uncertainty, when you can just buy a new one (even if a new model wasn't coming out).

keep in mind most ppl will inflate the CL price to deal with hagglers, but this is getting close to selling talk so yeah :)

Oh please, while you may hate apple products (why are you even posting here?) you cannot deny the fact that apple is selling millions of these units, not to play some games but for people who want this for other reasons.

My wife doesn't play any games but finds her iPad to be a great device.

+1

The opinions and behaviors of MR posters are literally statistically insignificant when it comes to evaluating general trends. They are as reliable as random noise. They reflect nothing about what most people want, are willing to pay for, or are doing.

To give you a sense of how stupid I am, I still haven't figured out that the iPad is worthless. Maybe another year of use and I'll see the light. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I guess that makes me a down right idiotic because after much mulling, research and posting here. I'll be buying an iPad shortly. My thinking is if i buy one now, I'll get to enjoy it now and if the iPad 2 has specs that I like then I can sell it.

The really incredible thing is i'm buying it not to play games but work. I guess it will take time for me to see how worthless it really will be :p

not selling mine. i actually bought one in january knowing full ware of what was happening in march or april. i wanted the ipad for the winter though. i surf on the 3g network when there is no power in my house. (new england storms)

sure eventually i will get an ipad 2. but i wont be the first in line thats for sure.

New ipad2

I use my ipad for reading articles on the internet reading newspapers reading ebooks so my useage the ipad 1 is good so ill be keeping mine but the average lifespan of a product is 6 months a lot of people buy a product then 6 to 8 months in sell it to prepare for new model coming then repeat the process me i like to use a product for multiple years and get my moneys worth out of it i dont see thE point in needing a new gadget every 6 to 8 months but to those who do no knock on them its just not for me

In my area, hardly anyone is selling iPads. I know because ive been shopping for one for a while now. I just bought a new one.

When the new one comes out I might sell mine and upgrade, might not. Being a college town of a major university, the resale value of apple products is ridiculously high.

I don't see anyone selling iPads. Of course any piece of electronic equipment will eventually find its way in eBay or similar sites. This is pretty normal and I don't see that happening more with the iPad.

Am I misunderstanding your post?

There are over 1,100 iPads for sale on eBay right now... about a third are 3G.
When I searched the other day for "iPad" there were lots of results, but the first several pages were all for accessories, no actual iPads. Went to "electronics" category, and I guess I should've gone to the "Computers" category. Now, in the "all categories" search several iPads do turn up on the 1st page. So, okay, thousands for sale, out of millions out there. Let's estimate 0.1% of "everybody".

I know, responding to a troll is a waste of time (I don't mean you, the original statement).

.1% x 14,800,000 = 148,000.
