I'm not saying there will be two chips on the board, all I'm saying is that it's possible.
Also, remember, they have a bunch of wiggle room between the manufacture cost of the phone and the selling price of the phone. If they eliminate the old style phones from manufacture and concentrate on the new model at 16/32/64GB models, they will save money and possibly be able to hit the $99/199/299 price points.

I don't see Apple deviating from those price points, but maybe they'll go with $149/249/349 if they do an all 4th gen lineup of 16/32/64GB.

That's how I use my 16 GB iPad. Solely for apps, video, books, etc.

I won't be able to fit my 150+ GB of music on my iPhone any time soon, so I just swap out whatever I'm listening to the most.

I get really tired of having to pick and choose my music. Easier to just load it all. Always pisses me off when I look for a song and realize it's not there.

Also, I have lots of podcasts.

They may decide to drop their profit margin, but that's not like Apple.

And you saying it's possible and it actually being physically possible are 2 different things.

Which is why it would be perfect for Apple to start a service to stream your entire iTunes library. If that was rolled into MobileMe, I'd pay the $99 a year just for that.

Yeah, but what happens when your wireless service drops? (We are talking AT&T here ;))

If they can drop their profit margin slightly to get production streamlined quicker and lower manufacturing costs sooner, they may do it. Apple is not a nearsighted company.

It may be physically possible. Unless you've seen the circuit board sans shielding, you can't say otherwise, just like I can't say that they did do it.

I can't say 100%, but I know enough to confidently bet my paycheck on it.

Really? What you're saying may only be possible if they make the PCB larger.

No. You have no idea how the new board is laid out.
What is moved from the board into the new SoC? There's extra space from that, as well as from the reorganization of the board. You've seen how everything is much closer than on the older models.

It's been said the new board it's 1/3 the size of the old one, but it's actually 2/3 the size since they use both sides, and it appears they only used one side on the 3GS and prior phones. Also, it appears to be a little bigger than 1/3, say 40% size. So it's actually 80% of the size of the older models, overall.

none of it enough to add another NAND chip. You apparently haven't noticed the size of it.

And the 3G and 3Gs also had a SOC.

I know how big they are, just putting out the possibility.
We'll see the sizes on the 7th. Then we'll see how it's laid out an hour or two after release when ifixit rips one apart.
