I ended up ordering the Tcoior L32660 through Alibaba today. Should be interesting the see how it plays out. I know a refresh is coming for the Apple Monitors but for the price of the L32660 I thought I'd give it a go.

I plan on ordering as soon as I got back from vacation in the middle of next month. Would love an update on this.

It shipped out yesterday via HUALIANGANG ... when viewing tracking info there isn't really much for information other than that it's 操作中 ... Google translates that to 'In Operation'. Hopefully it arrives in the next week. I'll give an update once I've tested it out.

If it is, that’s about as bright as I can stand it anyway on my 24” 1440p HDR panel. In the morning it’s too bright and I have to turn it down.

Not sure how the XDR works, but on many monitors the brightness scale is non-linear.

Furthermore, the brightness is not the same across the screen. If you're running at say 500 nits, that's only for the brightest parts of the screen. The darker parts of the screen may be well under 100 nits. For example, for typical screen content on a 1000 nit TV, the average brightness on screen might only be 200 nits. Most people would not want to run even a 400 nit screen at maximum brightness, because in most office environments, it would be very uncomfortable on the eyes unless you're right in front of a window during the day or something like that.

For my home office I calibrated my monitor to around 120 nits, but will vary the brightness up and down depending on the time of day and other factors.

A few things "confirmed" to me by the representative; It is glossy, uses the AUO panel and a MediaTek controller board. @kjj9 If you look at the video on the website (linked earlier) there is definitely a wider black border at the bottom, which the LG 6K panel in the Kuycon G32P doesn't have.
It seems to be a real image, because there appears to be a slight sign of vignetting at the sides.
Probably a good thing, because it means more space to get the backlight LEDs giving an even distribution...

I wonder if it's because of the panel itself? The Asus PA32QCV and Acer PE320QXT both use the same panel (I think), and both have the litttle thicker bottom border

I live in Finland and ordered a Tcolor SC-MZT-L32660 monitor from Alibaba for €733 (the price included all costs) two weeks ago, and the package was delivered to my door yesterday. I have now used the monitor for one day with a MacBook Pro M1 and a Mac mini M4, and I haven’t noticed any major issues so far. It’s worth noting that the monitor’s menus are in Chinese, so you’ll need to use something like the Google Translate camera view on your phone if you don’t understand Chinese🙂

The monitor stand is sturdy aluminum and the height is adjustable. The monitor’s resolution is 6016 × 3384, 60 Hz, 10-bit (according to BetterDisplay). Adjusting the screen brightness may cause a high-pitched whining noise at certain brightness levels, which, as far as I understand, is a known phenomenon with some monitors and is related to the backlight control (Pulse Width Modulation). If needed, it’s better to adjust the perceived brightness by lowering contrast or using other settings instead.

The monitor also has a very basic speaker and is really only suitable for simple notification sounds. The monitor works as a USB hub as well, but the ports are somewhat outdated (2 × USB-A and 1 × USB-B).

The monitor has a glossy screen and physical buttons on the right side (power on/off and menu navigation). The power supply is external, and you can request a power cable suitable for your country via Alibaba chat if needed.

I’m happy with the image quality. I used to have an LG 27MD5KL-B 27” 5K, and I think this one actually looks better. It’s suitable at least for regular office work and general hobby/leisure use🙂

I pulled the trigger too. Price is unbeateable and i think it will be jump anyways from ultrawide 3440x1440.

Any issues with enabling HDR? My previous Kuycon G32P had issues but I returned it due to a bad panel before a firmware release was available that solved HDR not working with TB4.

I don’t think it’s worth using HDR with this monitor😕, since its brightness is only 400 nits, while proper HDR usually requires around 600–1000 nits. I tested HDR, but the image quality looked worse compared to having it turned off.

I haven’t tried switching the input, since I have the monitor connected to the computer via USB-C. The monitor also has a built-in hub (2 × USB-A and 1 × USB-B). I’ve connected my peripherals there, such as a keyboard and an audio amplifier, and I switch between MacBook Pro (work) and a Mac mini (leisure) simply by moving the USB-C cable from one computer to another.

If the default setting is in Chinese it can be hard to switch to English, but you can use Google Translate with an iPhone camera for instant translation to navigate to the language setting.

I only adjusted the contrast and raised the black level by lowering its value in the monitor settings. My brightness is at maximum, and it looks sufficient.

Display image settings are largely subjective (even when measurements are used) and they’re also strongly affected by ambient lighting and personal preference.
